Regarding Josh:

Wasn't he also caught looking at porn on an office computer when he was working for a family friend? Sorry, I don't have a source.

And wasn't one of the Duggar family friends convicted because he had child pronography on his office computer? I wonder if this was the same person?

I wonder if Josh saw something that noone ever should see!

At 14 and living such a sheltered life I believe he didn't know 100 % what he was doing but maybe did something he saw somewhere else, maybe on that computer?

I don't know if he seems in awe of her. In their joint talking heads he frequently seems annoyed and uncomfortable when she talks.

Completely true. He has been looking annoyed with her lately. What does that mean in the grand scheme of things? Sweet shag all probably or the honeymoon phase is over and he realizes that he married into this shit show of a family. Now what Ben?

I believe the story is that Josh was working for someone on a campaign (the name slips me completely) and he was also courting his daughter at 14. Name still escapes me, gosh usually I remember. So and so lost the election and blamed it on "a sin in the camp" which has been taken to mean Josh was looking at Porn on this guy's office computer?

If my memory serves correct the "family friend" convicted was the cop JB took Josh to years after his crimes. I think... I'm a little rusty on Duggar facts.

Was it Jim Holt? That's the name that sticks out to me

Hmm. Jinger's wedding and a new courtship makes Jessa's pregnancy rather mundane. Wonder how she's dealing with that.

Probably not very well but she still has more interest than Jill, so she's hanging onto that I would imagine.

Wait, the daughter wasn't Kayleigh Holt? Or am I remembering wrong?

Maybe it was tbh. I kept thinking of Sarah Reith, who was Zack Bates' failed courtship.

Did I see twins for Jessa in that preview that I caught?

I feel confident that's just a tease. I guess we'll see in another few months!

I guess he had some idea it was wrong since he confessed to his parents.  Then repeated the action.  Then confessed again.  While I do place most of the blame for his actions on his parents, I have a hard time seeing him as completely innocent.

He knew it was wrong... but then everything sexual is painted as wrong, I'm not saying that Josh is innocent, his actions are a product of the upbringing imo.  I just don't believe you can hold someone fully accountable when they are still a child themselves and have no concept of what is normal sexual development-this is a teenage boy who has to watch his parents practically mount each other in full view of all the children...yet can't even share a kiss until he is married.

I'm not excusing the behaviour I'm just saying Josh probably didn't have an understanding of how wrong it was.

The thing that I hate about a lot of Fundies is that it seems all sins are pretty much equal, in that if you sincerely repent, you are forgiven, even if you do it again.  This is why there's so much pressure on the victims to forgive the offenders and not make a fuss (see the Doug Wilson scandals, Katie Botkin's writings and any number of stories around the web).

So molesting one's sisters is the same as masturbation is the same as thinking impure thoughts etc etc.  I think that's utter madness, but that how it goes (I was especially struck by a blog from a victim talking about how much it hurt when her courtcase came around, and the Pastor was sitting with the offender, and supporting him, and asking for leniency for him, because he had begged forgiveness etc - and how there was no support for her at all, and tons of pressure for her to forgive and forget).

I don't think it's a coincidence that the Fundies talk about how prevalent sibling-molestation is in their world.  Not talking absolving Josh, but agreeing that it's his upbringing, and the whole "all sexual thoughts and actions are equally wrong" is so dangerous.

BoJack Horseman really does have a quote for everything: "You know, it's funny. When you look at someone through rose-colored glasses, all the red flags just look like flags."

"Suck a Dick, dumbshit"

It reeeeeally has a quote for everything :pb_lol:

Thank for clarifying :-)

But, wow, no one finds it really really weird that they took Josh to a man who was convicted for this terrible crime? Why were they still in contact with that cop? wtf!!!!

I don't find it weird. We've seen time and again that JB and Michelle see their children as props and meal tickets, and care little about their safety and wellbeing. They're pimps, not parents.

I think he was convicted after they took Josh to him. It's been a long time since this was all on the other website years ago.

Yes, he was convicted after he talked to Josh.  Pretty coincidental that that's who they took Josh to to scare him straight or whatever...or maybe they knew he would be more sympathetic than other law enforcement... or their godly community and godly friends are so infested with perverts you can't avoid them.  After seeing some of the Gothard materials I'm guessing it's the latter.

One in three in their holy, better-than-you community?  I wonder if they think it happens in literally every family out in the heathen world.

If Jana gets married, Jessa will never deal with it. I don't know how she will deal with Joy. Everyone but Jessa has managed to get of the compound.

(That being said Jill is probably trying to get back in.)

jessa will  never leave the compound - guarantee it - she couldn't and can't handle the real world - plus she married Boob's braidmare

and who will take care of Jessa's children when she needs to put her feet up

plus she is royalty in her world
