The Duggars are popping up on the Daily Mail website again.

Jim Bob Duggar urges families to remove 'sensuous' materials from their homes a week after son Josh was sued by porn star for $500,000 following 'violent sex'

  • Jim Bob Duggar is telling parents how to be better 'spiritual leaders' in a new message on the family website
  • 'Start protecting your family by removing books, magazines, television, or internet that have worldly or sensual content,' writes Jim Bob
  • He also urges families to surround themselves with things like 'biographies of great Christians, good old-fashioned family fun and games'
  • It was revealed last week that Jim Bob's oldest son Josh was being sued by a porn star for $500,000
  • Danica Dillon accuses Josh of battery in her lawsuit, saying that he manhandled her in a way that 'felt as if she were being raped'

Dear Jim Bob,

I hate to tell you, but the bible has sensual content. Also, if you isolate your children to the extreme, they will not be able to survive in the real world.

Wouldn't you love to be a fly on the wall when Jim Bob reads from the Song of Solomon during family Bible time?  (But who'm I kidding?  He probably only reads it in private to Michelle.)

Can't you just envision the boys trying to stifle giggles, the older girls turning all shades of red, the littles being bored and restless, Anna crying, and Michelle staring adoringly at her headship, hoping against all hope he'll feel too tired to do the mini golf routine when they go to bed?

The other thing that struck me was this talk of the house being their "dream home."  Nonsense.  It was a fixer-upper which they bought because it was cheap.  They moved to it because there was no where else to go after Josh had to leave the DC job, not because they wanted to set roots in Arkansas.

And the line about pornography in Josh's public "confession" was removed for a while but it was put back in before he went to RU.

I agree it was never a dream home, but the house was bought before the news of Scandal 1 hit.    There was speculation at the time that Josh 1) Wanted his own place for visits back to Arkansas and being experienced at rehabbing and considering how isolated the house is, Jim Bob found a good deal for him.  Or 2)  He was planning on returning in a few years and would use his experience at FRC to make a run for political office in Arkansas.

I don't think they knew what a year 2015 would turn out to be....

I am pretty sure that if they ever got to the Song of Solomon he skipped around and left things out.  But if he did read it, do you think Michelle had even a chance that he would be "too tired" after reading it?

Yes, you are right.  My point was that the place was not fixed up or ready for their habitation when they moved to it.  They had bought it while living in DC and probably didn't think they would be moving into it before it was fully rehabbed.  I wasn't trying to suggest they bought it after the scandal, just that it was no dream house.

Funny thing I just remembered--I think it was the same Daily Mail that did a piece about how dreadful the Arkansas house was compared to what they were leaving behind in DC.    Hmmm....

It bothers me that the Duggars are still blaming external factors for this.

Josh made bad choices. Josh sinned. No one was responsible for Josh's behavior except Josh.

It seems like the Duggar strategy continues to be to deflect rather than to accept that their family member is responsible for his own conduct.

Well, I think his upbringing and lack of real therapy after the molestation incident may have had something to do with his choices.

Oh, definitely! No one makes choices in a vacuum, and Josh was almost certainly influenced by some factors that were not of his own making.

I don't think that contradicts anything I said, though. :)

While agree Josh is ultimately responsible for his actions as a teen and as an adult, I think the Duggars played a huge role in helping him become the scumbag that he is.

*They put him on a pedestal as the first born male child and gave him passes he didn't deserve.

*They raised him to believe females weren't just second class citizens, they are on the earth solely to serve and please men.

*He was brought up in a repressive culture, but also one in which all sins are equal.  A glance at an old National Geographic is the same as fondling a 5 year old because one can just confess and make it right with the Lord and all is cool again.  So raising him with strict rules but no sense of an actual moral compass, he has difficulty differentiating between a small transgression - like dancing or looking at a photo of boobs, with serious things like assaulting young children or exposing your ever pregnant wife to STDs.

Josh is a mess who arrived at this state in part because of the culture in which is was raised.  I'm sure not all the Duggar sons will turn out like he did, but it's a safe bet that whether it's wife beating or child abuse, their Gothard training will result in more offspring harming other people.

And this all makes Jim Bob's bullshit blatherings all the more infuriating.  What's needed here is self-reflection and reassessment, but it's never going to happen.

RimJob:  We raised boys who, as far as I know, haven't cheated on their wives, never molested younger children as adolescents, have been self-supporting as adults and have honored their parents.  This is what we recommend for you and your family:

*  Consciously expose your children to books, magazines, movies, internet, and television with worldly and sensual content WHILE teaching them to think critically about the underlying values and messages they receive from these media, with special attention paid to the unethical objectification of women as sex objects

*  Surround your children with biographies of great Christians AND the stories of great leaders, military and sports heroes, great artists and musicians, extraordinary scientists, and ordinary people who overcame adversity

*  Play good old fashioned family games and fun AND turn out with the community to watch your children play team sports like soccer or whatever engages their passion

Can you even image if the girls read the biography of Mary Kay Ash (Mary Kay)? While her husband was in WWII she sold books door-to-door instead of waiting on her husband to send her money from his military check. Her husband came back from the war, left her and he asked for a divorce. She outlived the next 2 husbands. She did sales and exceled all to allow her family to eat and live. Then her son let her borrow money to start a cosmetic business and then she become a millionaire many times over and then she marries again but still remains the top dog in her company. And the company motto is "God First, Family Second and Career Third."

I wonder what the girls would think of a woman like that..

Shirley McLaine portrayed her in a movie called The Battle of Mary Kay

It's a brilliant movie.

Mary Kay Ash was amazing. I read the book and once one of her employees....a manager or director.....just didn't show up for something important. She said....something must be wrong. His wife was in the hospital, something sudden and unexpected and serious. She told the man to take all of the time he needed. Amazing woman, loving, religious and strong. I tried to sell it but couldn't ask people for money, ha ha.

NOJust  no.

You do not get to hand out parenting advice when you did a crappy job of it yourself. I would not take a class on compassion taught by Donald Trump, nor would I look to the Duggers for advice on child rearing, not to even start on the fact that Jana would probably be the one who has the most actual experience in hands on child rearing...

Jim Bob you need to go home, sit your remaining boys down have the NO means NO talk with them and then take your daughters and give them some education, real world skills that will protect them from having to sit quietly in rotten marriages due to having no ability to earn a living on their own.

Then shut up. Try humble on for a while, while there is a PORN STAR that is claiming your sons desires were such that she felt like SHE was being raped you may want to rethink the whole sheltering your kids lifestyle and maybe allow them a glimpse at the real world, even just enough so that they have a basic understanding of social norms.

You have married kids with NO income, you have lawsuits swirling around another and God only knows what private hell the others still at home are living in. Time to RAISE your remaining kids and pull the veil of absurdity back and take a good hard look at the reality of your situation and how laughable your statements are at this time.

Preach on!!!

Jim Bob - you don't even have to do the talking when teaching the kids no means no. You can just show them this video: https://vimeo.com/128105683

I so wish I could post that on all of their IG/twitter/fb pages....

Maybe somebody, or somebodies, should sue Jim Bob and company for fraud.  That they have defrauded the public with their lies about how they live such a wonderful, wholesomeness Christian lifestyle.  Think of all the dirt that would come out in the depositions.

Oh that would be classic. I would definitely get the popcorn out for that one.

I just fries my hide that not one of them, not a single one can take any type of responsibility for what is happening to them. It is all someone else's fault. Really? Just say you screwed up, put on your big girl panties, deal with it and move on. It is what the rest of us in life do. Yeah, it can suck, But, sometimes life does. No one is above it not even you Rim Job. Probably least of all you Rim Job,

All those Alert Academy visits, the school conferences; boys all the same age basically on their own; I'm betting a little late-night convo. in the bunk house probably clued Josh in to all the hot stuff you could see on the computer  if no one is around. I really think that led to his downfall.

A blind item posted today is obviously about josh: http://blindgossip.com/?p=75083 a reality tv star sold his house to his own company, obviously josh. I don't get why they are doing this now other than to solve it in a day or two since everyone already knows :pb_rollseyes:

I came over here to post exactly this. hiya fellow BG reader. ;-) It's so deliciously Duggarific to botch asset transfer just like they botch everything else - press releases, stray pictures of Jessa's exposed shoulders in the hospital, etc.

Something tells me the asset transfer will lead to a greater unraveling that exposes some financial improprieties/scandals on the part of the Duggars. Jim Bob doesn't come across as particularly bright and I know people occasionally luck out, but I find it hard to believe that his rental properties just coincidentally became as lucrative as they did. He seems like such a yuk-yuk circus clown that I find it hard to see him making as many sound investments as he did. Conversely, the dumb patriarch thing could just be an act (if so it's way better than Mechelle's concerned mother schtick) and he really is a brilliant businessman. Either way, I see some sort of financial bad behaviour, whether it was on the part of others to get him started or on his part to make more money, coming to light.

I don't think he'd be a philanderer. He's too stoked that he got to schtupp the cheerleader. I do buy the theory that Mechelle self-medicates, and I would not be surprised if she were depressed or suffering from a pain condition or another health problem following all her pregnancies.

I think that Michelle would have to have some side effects to all those pregnancies and she might be in horrible pain. I do think that she is on something, just the way she looks and speaks but of course I am not a "Licensed Medical Professional!" :P

I could totally buy that she got hooked on pain pills following a difficult delivery and just uses them to numb the pain of her existence now...

This was discussed a page ago, but in regards to Jim Bob's dad, his named was James Lee (and I think he actually went by JL), and his comments about Michelle go back way before Josie or Jubilee. If you're looking to watch his little interview I'm pretty sure it was in the first season or so of the show, around the time Jordyn was being born, but they may have actually done the interview in one of the earlier specials. I know he was at the house when Josh first brought Anna up from Florida to meet his family, that may have been when they interviewed him about his thoughts on the size of the family. I think by the time Josie was born, though, his health had deteriorated so significantly that he couldn't really communicate anymore. They maybe played some of those clips again in the episode that covered his funeral, though.
