Isn't the lawsuit just an extension of #2?  Its not actually new.

Well, I was looking at it as the 3rd thing to happen--just when you think it is quieting down  But you are correct, so allow me to amend my statement to "round

Could we not demonize JB's dead father? He seemed like a likeable chap and we never saw anything that said he leered at women. He was a loving grandfather who always treated his grown granddaughters with respect. And he was honest to a fault. Remember the little speech he gave about Michelle having another baby? Painfully honest and absolutely true.

I'm not well versed in the Duggar shows, and the one you describe is something I'd like to see.   Do you have an approximate time period when Grandpa Duggar was alive and talking to the cameras? It would help me narrow down the youtube archive.

Probably totally unimportant questions, but I am wondering if anyone can explain this.  I just went to the IMDB site for the Duggar show to see what I could find about Grandpa Duggar.  Several questions.

• Neither Jim Lee Duggar nor Mary Duggar appear on the cast list.  I have never watched the show (though since joining FJ I have watched a variety of clips), but it would make sense to me that Grandpa Duggar maybe never had enough lines to appear as part of the cast.  But MARY????  Doesn't she live in the TTH?  Can anyone tell me what is up with this?
• Oddly, Michelle Duggar is the only cast member credited with any episodes in the year 2015.  In fact, Michelle is credited with 193 episodes while no one else is credited with more than 154.  I guess I am just assuming this is an error.  Anyone know any explanation?
• In terms of the kids, Jackson, Jennifer, Johanna, James, Jessa, Jinger, Justin, Jana, Jason, Jill, Josiah, Joy-Anna, Jedidiah, Jeremiah, Joseph, John-David, all are credited with between 141 and 154 episodes, which makes sense to me.  Jim-Bob is credited with 154 episodes.  Jordyn appears to have arrived at the end of the first season and comes in with 135.  Josie arrives in time for 2010 giving her a total of 93.  All makes sense.  And then there is Josh at 108.  Is this because of the move to DC?  Because he was away for the early episodes?  A bit of both?

Hope no one minds the boring questions.  Never thought IMDB would give me no answers and so many questions!

The first episode where the Bates visit the Duggars in Season One, Grandpa Duggar is talking about family size and says that when JB and Michelle started having so many kids, both he and Michelle's father were against it. He says something like, two kids were enough for us, that's all we could say grace over! I found him to be quite charming.

I've never been able to put my finger on what is up with JB.  Something about him though makes me never want to be left in the same room as him alone.

When TLC announced these special, they specifically indicated that Josh would not be included.  I guess I took that as they wouldn't even mention him or the scandals....  Considering that even people that live under rocks must know about what's been going on, I guess they felt they had to address it.  I'm going to guess that it'll be about a 90 second blurb and then it's off to the oh-so-interesting Seeweeds and Dullards.

Mmm Josh is not going to be included but they will use the "Josh incident" because that will get people watching. Anna has been silent for so long, those of us who are interested in the Duggars want to know what she will say. Likely, it will be that she's depending on God to get her through this or something similar and it's going to be the shortest clip in the world but it will drum up interest! And TLC wants to get the Duggars back on the air full time. Even if it's in a round about way.

I would love this too, as bad as it sounds. I think JB has skeletons in his closet that may put Smugger to shame, if I'm honest. 

My interpretation of this family is that it must be very hard for all of the family members to maintain, honestly and indefinitely, the "pure" "godly" "devout" front that they have presented.

The issues that Smuggar got into totally surprised me, however--the abuse of the five young girls, the membership in Ashley Madison, the hiring--and possible exploitation--of a sex worker: I foresaw none of it, although I should have realized that sexuality is one area where individuals so repressed, ignorant, and heavy-handedly religious would have problems.

And where one individual is in this situation, it seems to me, statistically, that there may be more. Could Smuggar really be the only individual in the family in whom "Satan built a [sexual] fortress"?

I do agree with other posters who have suggested that there may also be financial shenanigans, and possible tax evasions, that still have not come to light. Presumably Jim-Boob and ME-chelle would be the obvious candidates, but I would not be surprised if some of the other adults in the family are also associated with dodgy financial moves.

The other closet skeletons, I suspect, may have to do with substance abuse. The stresses of being a Duggar are such that it is very hard for me to believe some members are not self-medicating excessively--whether with prescription drugs, alcohol, or illegal drugs. I just can't believe that they deal successfully with all their problems only via prayer.

A Message to Fathers from Jim Bob

When Michelle and I first married, we thought we might have one or two children. Four years into to marriage, we had our first child. After that, Michelle went back on the birth control pill. She ended up getting pregnant while on the pill and had a miscarriage.

We were so grieved. We did not know that sometimes the pill allows you to get pregnant but then causes a miscarriage. We thought we could set our own timetable for having children, for example- when we were "financially able," or when we "had all our ducks in a row."

We read in the Bible that God says that children are a blessing and a reward from Him (Psalms 127:1-5). We had been rejecting His gifts. At that point, we prayed and asked God to forgive us and we gave Him this area of our lives. We said, "Lord, help us to love children the way that you love children, and Lord we want to receive each one as a gift from you."

May God bless you as you follow His Spirit and purpose to give Him every area of your life.

A great way to start being the spiritual leader and coach of your home is to ask Jesus to forgive you for the things you have done wrong (1 John 1:9) and ask Him to take over the steering wheel of your life. Purpose to read the chapter of Proverbs that corresponds to the day of the month with your family daily. Also, commit to pray with your wife everyday. Start protecting your family by removing books, magazines, television, or internet that have worldly or sensual content. Replace them with good things like wholesome music, biographies of great Christians, good old-fashioned family fun and games. Love God with your whole heart and look for opportunities to serve others as a family and tell others about our Saviour.

We've seen his ridiculous explanation for why they dont use the pill before.  Thats old hat that they've recycled so they could add the PS - which is clearly pointed directly at Joshy.  "Ask your wife and children for forgiveness?" What is the relation of this to birth control and children as a blessing?  Is boob incapable of writing a whole 250 words on why you shouldnt fuck around? Apparently so, because he's publicly but not so publicly telling Joshy how he's doing it wrong.  Same goes for the "pray with your wife" and "dont keep ebil teevee" around.  When Sm'anna were first married they made a big deal about bible time, I guess that waned and that big tv made its way into the living room.

With Jim Bob's suggestion of the removal of TV, internet etc. is he admitting that Josh had those available to him at their house? We know he was caught as a teenager with porn on his computer when he was working/volunteering for some political campaign.

We were so grieved? What kind of sentence is that? How many times does he have to bring up Michelle's miscarriage and imbed more guilt into her head over it? He is a nasty nasty person.

That was something that always bothered me about the Duggars.  They believe that anyone who doesn't follow their lifestyle is going to hell, and yet they are dependent on the hell-bound to support their lifestyle.  They needed doctors and nurses who got evil higher education to save Michelle and Josie, they need people who work for corporations instead of family-owned business to make their processed packaged foods, etc.

Totally. When he flipped those coins to decide if he wanted to run for office, that was god communicating with him. That's how God helps people make wise decisions -- coin flipping and such. Why try to think through your problem to arrive at a rational decision? Just flip your coins with faith!
