Duggars By the Dozen - General Discussion -14

I wonder if Hartono was only getting room & board from the Duggars.  And where did he sleep?  Ben's room in a storage facility hadn't been set up yet.

So, in Josh's old bunk, I guess.

What a waste of 2 summers. He should have at least done some sports or outdoor-related volunteering when he was in Tontitown.

Sports management degree? Wow. He should've been working at the YMCA or something like that. JB's bitch boy isn't exactly eye catching.

I'm shocked that's an offered degree from Segregated Sidewalk College.

ETA: i wonder why none of the Hartonos are courting Duggars since they've spent so much time there.

are you all sure he has a degree - WOW

I can't get over this commercialism. A job is a job. A ministry is sharing what you have received from God for free. Yes you need to live. But that is all you need. And if you, while doing ministry can make a living with a side job or have a support group or supporting church to which you are accountable, all fine with me. But the nature of ministry is that you are prepared to give and serve for free and trust that if you do so faithfully, God will give you a way to get the money you NEED. Through a job or through the generousity of christians.

Above is in respose to the discussion on speaking fees. I see I am a page behind

15 bunk beds? Enough for 30 boys? Either JB had wild aspirations, or Hartono meant 5. JB must have generously donated the other 10. :irony:

the grandkids (in the making) need to sleep somewhere too. And as they were probably cheaper in bulk...

Maybe they also built bunks for the guest house / storage building? I'm thinking of the building Ben slept in when he was courting Jessa. Part of it is finished like a house, with a kitchen and living room space (that was used for some of the videos the kids and Anna have made), and there are probably bedrooms there for when they have large families visiting.

Yeah, if I remember right, when the Duggars have guests, they get the boys room and the boys have to go sleep in the RV.

Which is sad because I picture the Boys room being very smelly.

I'm rewatching 16 kids and Moving in for the first time in 9 yrs. Wow. Wisdom booklets. The original mention of the TTH. "Everybody say perpendicular. " as an example of their teaching.  The Josh voice over. Oy.  :my_dodgy:

I actually recently rewatched all of the specials on Youtube (God I love Youtube - I have watched Dance Moms, Abby's Ultimate Dance Competition, the Duggar Specials, some of the Bates episodes, Hell's Kitchen - its awesome!) and I am with you - I forgot how creepy the family used to be. I mean the matching clothes, the frumpers...

I just had a terrible vision of what the Duggar future could be. All the young kids living at the TTH in the dorms while the adult kids focus on creating the next blessing in their own houses and the aunt moms take over training and education. Kind of like cousin boarding school. I pray to god this family disintegrates before that occurs.

I still don't understand why they didn't build guest quarters for that very reason. Sticking guests in a bunch of metal 70s bunkbeds just seems mean.

I don't think the Duggars are too worried about whether they're treating guests meanly.  Didn't they make Sarah Pope help prepare the tater tot casserole they fed her when she was visiting them after she and her son were in the hospital at the same time Michelle and Josie were?  And I seem to recall that when some visiting preacher was invited for dinner, they used paper plates and plastic silverware to serve the food (and, again, I think it was tater tot casserole).

Good point. The Duggars are very oblivious to any hype of hospitality. Guests choices are 1) Boys room and 2) Garage so... lol

Shouldn't Anna be looking for a way to make money?

Shouldn't the Duggars be marketing her as well?

Who is supporting Josh's family- he hasn't worked since May and they've added another mouth to feed?

Fantasyland thinking.

I wonder which Duggar "kid" will be the first one to have that light bulb go on...the one that says my parents and Gothard are effing liars and sold us a putrid bill of goods?

I would say that was Josh...

Except he hasn't spoken out publicly against his parents. I'm still waiting for that to happen.

That kitchen and living room were editted in from another house. Ben's room was evidently converted from upstairs office space in the Duggars' pole barn/garage. They do have a nice guest house; the Whites have stayed there. We also have photographic evidence of the Dowell house being used for the Dillards' recent visit, but it's not clear to me if that's the same guesthouse they've always used, or a second one.

Well maybe that's why we haven't seen him. They have him tied up somewhere until he gets rebrainwashed.

One of my jobs is working @ an animal hospital, & I've seen a prolapsed rectum. I know that's not the same thing as a prolapsed uterus, obviously, but I can't imagine what a prolapsed uterus looks like (especially a human one). Eww.  :brainbleach:

I would honestly say that just about anything is possible when you're talking about the Duggars!

I'm sure that quoting from my own post is tacky, but I just remembered something. I have seen a prolapsed cow uterus (courtesy of the Animal Planet show, "The Amazing Dr. Pol" (who is wickedly cool, btw), & it is gross.

Again, haven't seen a human one & I have no plans on doing so anytime soon. :my_sick:

In that case, I am afraid you´ll be waiting until hell freezes over...

Imo, Josh´s main problem is that he has about as much backbone as a slug. He´d never speak out about whatever to whomever. His parents´ "training" made him a people-pleaser. He´ll always say what he thinks the people around him want to hear, even if it´s a blatant lie and even if average common sense would inform him that he is sure to be found out rather sooner than later.

In a way, it´s a tragedy. All he´d need in order to stop making himself as well as his wife and children miserable would be the resolution to call a spade a spade. If anybody really knows by hard and bitter experience that the fundie promises are false and are bound to ruin your life, it´s Josh. It would, for once, truly be a great opportunity for him to help other people by bearing witness to the truth.. Unfortunately, the courage that he´d need for that has been beaten out of him, quite literally. (I am not defending his behaviour. But I cannot help noticing that if he´d do right by Anna and the kids, he´d end up being a much happier man himself.)
