So I was reading this article about RU:

And this threw me for a loop:

This is speculation, and while I'm normally not one who cares all that much about speculation since I'm a big believer in freedom of speech, what bothers me about this line of thinking is that it has a victim-blaming element, however unintentional. The implication is that if only Anna had given Josh a better/more exciting/more varied/more whatever sex life, he might not have cheated.

We have no idea what Josh and Anna's sex life is like. (And thank God for that! :ew: ) They may have the bestest, most satisfying seksy times evah. Men (and women) can cheat for reasons that have absolutely nothing to do with how good their partner is in bed. They can cheat for reasons that have absolutely nothing to do with their partner, period. They can cheat for reasons that are all about themselves and their own inability to be monogamous.

Like I said, speculation doesn't bother me per se, but when it comes to speculating about Josh and Anna's sex life as a cause of his infidelity, I think it can inadvertently place blame on her for his decision to break his marriage vows.

Who's victim blaming? I don't think Anna had anything to do with Josh's decision to cheat. There's a number of reasons why Josh wanted to cheat on Anna- it seems obvious that his desire for "different" sex is on that list- whether that means different styles or different people.I also don't see that anyone is blaming Anna. I really doubt he ever discussed any of this with her. I have a feeling he just did it because he wanted to.

The rehab isn't even really community service. It's working for the rehab or church or "business partners". Which is a shame, because I know the Rockford location of the northern illinois food bank needs more volunteers. I volunteer at the Geneva location and stuffed envelopes for part of a morning wi th letters looking for more.

That occurred to me, too! The bar for what fundies consider 'deviant' behavior is so low that three beers and a couple of Advil qualify you for this kind of program. And given the price tag, I have the feeling it's mostly low-level offenders from middle-class "good" families who end up enrolled. The literature makes it pretty clear that they aren't equipped to deal with anything more hardcore.

Any old timers out there remember the Big Valley episode when Nick and Heath got arrested on trumped up charges? The local sheriff tossed them into a jail that was actually a slave labor camp to await trial. And the circuit judge wasn't coming to town for 6 months.

That's what popped into my head as I watched the videos about this place. Fundie parents catch 19 year old son with a little weed and off to "rehab" he goes for a mere $7500. "The rehab center" provides a cot and crap food and lots of low cost Bible time and probably gets a kickback from the local businesses that are benefiting from Junior's free labor.

Nice scam if you can pull it off. And I think fundies must be the easiest scam targets out there.

I really hate this for the Keller siblings. They didn't ask to have their lives become tabloid fodder. I can not wish enough bad stuff on Pa Keller though. In a world where father is supposed to know best he is a complete failure.

I hope Rebecca's divorce is amicable and the result of drifting apart and not some major drama. I was rooting for them, but I don't divorce has to be a negative thing overall.

Is he allowed to have visitors? IBLP or the Duggars themselves could arrange to have somebody like David Waller visit Josh to "counsel" and keep in touch with him, especially since they're brothers-in-law. If Josh is truly in Rockford it's only an hour+ to get there from IBLP HQ. David would of course be smugger than, well, Smuggar himself and would pride himself on his godly character compared to his fallen brother-in-law and throw in an appropriate Bible verse or two. Even if this isn't an option, it would be fascinating to see the two of them in a room together and hear what they'd say to each other.

I'm sure Davey has all kinds of 'helpful' advice about suppressing desires. That guys definitely seems to have some pent up issues.

Anna really didnt deserve to be brought up in this crappy environment. But the fact that she was the rule-follower growing up... I wonder if that's what keeps her in. I have found that a lot of people who follow strict fundamental principles are the type of people who love rules--imposing them and following them. I think there's a personality to type to people who need to have rules in order to survive life. Maybe they are scared by the randomness of life.

So I did a Google image search on Reformers Unanimous because I just wanted to snark on the fundie women's uniforms. I didn't find a photo of those but I did find this from a year ago. Now I'm kind of wondering if JB worked his grifter magic to get a deal on his stay in this bullshit rehab?

I have wondered if they didn't get him a discount in exchange for publicity. I also think Josh will get special treatment. Are they going to kick him out if he sleeps in or eats junk food? I don't think so because all eyes on the rehab. I don't think they would want to say Josh failed after one week.

I've always felt bad that the non-fundie Kellers were dragged into the spotlight, dim as it was pre-scandal, by the Duggars. I admire the strength of the 3 who got out, and I think this board has treated them quite well and have refrained from speculating much about them (with a few minor exceptions). But there's a huge difference between people talking about your life on a (relatively) small Internet forum and your divorce being splashed across People Magazine, especially when they can't be bothered to spell your name correctly.

I hope that this "source" had permission from Rebekkah to share this information, especially since she seems to very much value her privacy.

But put me in the camp that suspects Daniel or Suze. Does People pay their "sources"? I hope if it was one of the shunned Kellers, they at least got a bit of cash, possibly to put toward Anna's flight out of Arkansas.
