Joshley Madison Part 5 - Rehab and women and porn - oh my!

A lot of legitimate rehab places have their participants do some amount of work. The one I'm familiar with would have a rotating chore chart, which would include things like helping to serve meals, cleaning up common areas - nothing particularly onerous. It's meant to help reacquaint them with helping others, as well as focusing on something other than themselves.

But, its maybe an hour or so a day, tops. It's not all day, every day.

No one in that family is strong enough to scrub Josh's online accounts. If I had to pick one it would be JD but the parents probably think he could be too easily defrauded and they'll make a girl do it and it will traumatize her!

And no one has the combination.

Husband and I were just talking about getting dressed up in our Sunday best and popping over to the North Love Baptist Church for services one of these Sundays. It's so close to our house. Since the fellas have to attend every service - it might be fun to see him. :cracking-up:

I 100% would if I were closer to that neck of the woods! You should go for it... and report back on the mysterious women's uniforms.

why bother risking an outsider saving incriminating evidence before scrubbing a phone/computer? Just smash it up/ destroy the hard drive and buy new ones

JB buy new???????? :o

I think all intuitive thinkers are more likely to see through fundie bullshit.

I know that as an INFP growing up fundie-lite I became aware of my skepticism around age nine, but also knew intuitively to hide any outward evidence of unbelief.

My mother was fond of saying, "If you love anything or anyone more than Jesus he will take that thing away from you, until you can only depend on him," and I spent countless nights lying awake when I was very little, to listen and make sure my dog hadn't stopped breathing. And eventually - because Beverly was always alive in the morning - I stopped believing her. But if she'd known that the words were no longer convincing, I wouldn't have put it past her to arrange an "accident" for Beverly, by way of an object lesson.

yeah shocker but I bet those aren't refurbished iPhones I see the girls with. And he has a business license (I hope) and a large family so he qualifies for a business plan and special pricing for phones. I'm sure at least one line is due for an upgrade so an older model phone would be free (with a subsidy for the phone built into the plan)

Oh, and wink at him! You can always say you had something in your eye if anyone questions you.

How awful for you.

I fail to see how 8-10 hours a day in unpaid labor is going to help a psychiatric issue. AND this type of treatment didn't work when Josh was 15, why on earth would JBoob and J'chelle think it would work this time? SMH

Well, these are people who believe that if beating your children isn't helping, just beat them harder. So it makes perfect sense. Send him to someplace that makes him work longer hours.

How long did he spend at the first round of work-hard=therapy camp?

It's interesting to me that people think Josh might leave early - I think he will face severe repercussions in his family if he tries that. Firstly, it may partly be an ultimatum by Anna. If he flunks out of sin recovery camp their relationship can't possibly be restored. It would also not surprise me at all if JimBob and Michelle threatened to cut off all support to him if he doesn't complete the program. And although it's hard to imagine his reputation sinking any lower, I do think that would be the death blow. Right now I bet Josh still thinks his image can recover from everything if he just plays things the right way. Even if it's abusive and worthless treatment, I think it would be a much greater blow to his reputation of he didn't stay there for the whole program than if he came out the other end preaching about how he'd been made clean again.

I feel like this is pretty accurate. If Danica was the first/only woman he cheated on Anna with and he was starstruck by her then I can't see him throwing her around. Unless he's had prior practice. And if him and Anna don't have rough sex then Danica must not be the first woman he cheated on her with. Or Danica's making it up for publicity after hearing Josh "liked" her on his fake facebook....

Here's the thing. I can totally see him being a jerk like this if he has a basically abusive mentality. (full disclosure: I'm a survivor of abuse). Instead of actually talking about rough sex or negotiating,he gets his jollies by doing this. And then he gives a very good performance of feeling sorry, enough that Ms. Dillon is willing to try a second round (but with some safety precautions. For him, it's not necessarily about the sex but about the power. Abusers really like that shit. As I mentioned previously, it makes me think of Jian Ghomeshi, who famously tried to blur the lines between consensual kink and non-consensual abuse, and the biggest line he blurred was communication.

If Josh is like my gut feeling says he's like, then he really loves this power dynamic, and not in a healthy role-playing type way. The whole cheating Ms. Dillon out of $600 really suggests to me the abuser/power mentality. I don't think it's coincidence that's the amount he (allegedly) paid her for personal lapdance. It's so Duggar-bargaining-cheapie mentality to reason that he'd already paid her $600! *Of course* he could only pay $900 for a negotiated *1500!! (Working from the alleged sequnce of events... if this is wrong I apologize.)

Bottom line: Josh Duggar seems like a guy who's pretty happy to blame women for his own desires, and in that case, it makes total sense he would hire a sex worker and then treat her like crap. Even though she's trying to give him what he wants, he blames her for his "sin." And as screwed up as that is, it sounds pretty logical in terms of what Gothard teaching does.

A few years ago, Anna thought she hit the jackpot. Now her nightmare just gets worse every day.

I wonder if Jim Boob and Michelle are telling her to stay away from news/internet, trying to hide details from her and if she's going along with it. Hopefully her brother is able to contact her directly and make sure she knows exactly what's going on.

I can't imagine she'd even want to go online right now. I guess some people's impulse would be to dig up all the dirt on that POS, but I think Anna has always seemed happy to stay ignorant of certain things. I can't see her exposing herself to more hurt when she's already been so badly betrayed.

She's probably cooped up in the house and howlers with drivers' licenses are running supplies over from the Duggar pantry. Either that or she's on the compound under direct observation at all times.

From the "insider" comments quoted in People and elsewhere, it sounds like her non-fundie family members are having trouble getting through to speak with her.

The RUHomes handbook is full of menacing rules.

ruhomes.org/wp-content/uploads/HOUSING_APPLICATION_Revised_January_29_FINAL.pdf

page 7 - church services: look up AND take notes!

No talking during services: eyes forward and no disruptions. Notes should be taken.

page 7 - church services: hope you have a strong bladder

Restrooms will only be allowed prior to leaving for services and between services.

page 8 - work detail - cracking the whip!

No sleeping or slacking off during work times.

page 9 - dress code for men goes into detail; for women...

Women’s dress is taught by our leadership and monitored closely by the steward.

page 10 - yummy cafeteria food

Negative remarks about food will not be tolerated. Prayer and fasting are a profitable substitute.

Well Josh had better watch out because if he compromises his work therapy program, then its off to the local homeless shelter for the night.

From the Gawker article:

"But if you’ve got it, Reformers Unanimous can (presumably) fix it. Just in their introduction video alone, they offer testimonies of a number of cured demons, including: drug and alcohol addiction, prescription medication, post-rape depression, eating disorders, pornography addictions."

POST-RAPE DEPRESSION!?!?!!?!! Because if you've been raped and feel bad about it, the solution is to be isolated from your family and friends, do lots of physical labor and not talk about it?!?!?!!! And presumably be told that it's partly/totally your fault.

And if you're not allowed to talk about what you did to get there, what do you talk about at those weekly chapter meetings? Is it how you will go forth and sin no more?

Horrifying.

Not to mention if you are detoxing from drugs, there is no medical support.

So if you smack your head on the concrete floor during a seizure, you'd best hope Jesus is paying enough attention to swoop in and save you.

I've been trying to compare the Danica Dillon Dates to Duggar social media.

Danica says she had sex with Smugger after her philly show and another show north of philly. These shows were on March 12-14th and April 17-18th.

On March 11th Josh was at an FRC event in Houston, TX

Between March 11th and March 15th the dugger family page posted several pictures of a family vacation in Texas. Josh is in several of these pictures but it's unclear if they were posted on the days they were taken. It's difficult to know if Josh left the vacation early to go back to DC. There was a christian film festival on March 14th-19th in Texas. Fjers on the Duggar Avation thread thought the family went to the festival but it was not confirmed. Also the Duggar plane was hopping around during that week but never went near DC or Philly.

For the second show the dates are April 17th/18th. On April 16th Josh tweeted about the DC metro. On April 18th he tweeted a picture of Marcus in the RV. On April 19th it looked like the family was at an airport headed to Big Sandy. This means he would've had to go to Philly on April 17th to see Danica. It's not impossible but also not very likely. With a 6 hour roundtrip from DC to Philly plus time for the show and seeing Danica after the show all while Anna is home packing up the kids for a long trip, I don't know how likely that is.

OMG I saw that -- who even uses the phrase "post-rape depression" anyway? APPARENTLY FUNDIES. How awful.

Oh my good goddess in green salad heaven.

How THE FUCK is "post rape-depression" even relevant to substance addictions? (Yes, i get that the might occur at the same time for obvious reasons but holy shit! Those are different conditions. And "cured demons"? That's some Pentecostal-lite crap for victim- blaming b/c you let the evil influences in.

This is not meaningful therapy, although of course no one at FJ was really wondering! I do REALLY dread the idea that Josh Duggar might be in a therapy group with survivors of sexual violence or emotional abuse---augh! :pull-hair:

This whole rehab situation reminds me of that 7th Heaven episode where Eric sends Simon to a psychologist because he had sex before marriage. The whole idea that the proper response to sin/being a shithead is to get someone psychiatric help is driving me nuts. Maybe Josh really does have a sex/porn addiction, but maybe he just needs to own up to being a shitty husband and hypocrite of his own accord.
