i agree, it's pretty useless to speculate on what diseases danica may or may not have. hpv would be my biggest concern, since it's pretty damn common and can lie dormant for years. anything else, though, rate of infection is probably similar to any other sexually active woman.

Of all the Duggar kids, JD is the one who I have the most hope for as far as making it in the real world. He is hardworking, has achieved things in his own right (pilot's license, constable, towing business, owing house) and he doesn't seem so keen on his family's nonsense and the dearly departed TLC dog and pony show. He can't help that he was born into this cray cray family, but he can work it for him by towing the line just enough to please Mom and Dad, which guarantees their support for his endeavors. JB is not going to argue with having a responsible and successful son. With all the panic going on in the TTH about how life is going to be post show and post scandal, JD is the one who will probably end up OK. Besides, his activities gets him out of the asylum that is the TTH right now. Gotta wonder how he felt flying his brother to his fake rehab. The quick turnaround at the airport suggests to me that he was probably too busy doing landing and pre-takeoff checks to have any meaningful words for his brother and that was probably fine with him.

A lot of people have speculated that Josh took his freaky impulses elsewhere because Anna wouldn't do certain things. I would actually be very surprised if Josh had even asked her. Because he was brought up to see sex as dirty and shameful, I could see him not wanting to do "dirty" things with his wife, the mother of his children. He probably does "love" Anna, as his wife and his children's mother. He may have seen the things he wanted to do as degrading to her. He didn't mind degrading other women, because they were sluts, so it's ok. That's what I assume as well. Josh's not a sex addict but rather a guy suffering from severe Madonna/Whore complex, who just can't see his "precious wife/mother of his children" as the object of his kinky lust and has to resort to the absolute opposite of her, the "whore" type. In his f*d up belief system, sex workers do not deserve any respect so he took all his dirty fantasies out on one and probably didn't even feel ashamed.

That just sounds like awful victim blaming to me. People are really trash. Even if that was the case and she did not want to do certain things with him, that's not how you deal with the situation.

But anyway, this wasn't a dab at you but at the people who are virtually blaming Anna. I agree with everything you said. He probably didn't even see it as cheating because he didn't see them as women/people because they were women of "low morals" in his eyes, unlike her who is the pure mother of his children.

I don't think population or group statistics mean crap when speaking about an individual in any case. You can't declare that because something is likely in a group that it is an absolute certainty for an individual - it doesn't work like that. Statistics aren't a Magic 8 Ball where "all signs point to yes".

That occurred to me, too! The bar for what fundies consider 'deviant' behavior is so low that three beers and a couple of Advil qualify you for this kind of program. And given the price tag, I have the feeling it's mostly low-level offenders from middle-class "good" families who end up enrolled. The literature makes it pretty clear that they aren't equipped to deal with anything more hardcore.

It could be that they will allow drug addicts in after they went the first stages of physical addiction, they are allowed to bring meds when they need them (like methadone). And remember that an addict is prone to give one addict up just to go to the other (there are researches who have found a brain differences in addicts). It's completely unfair to claim that this woman has any kind of STD unless she's come out and said so herself, but there has to be a middle ground between 'she's a whore and all whores are infected' and, 'sex workers are just like you and me! Some of them were more careful than others. Some of them got involved sexually with customers, and a few did catch an STI, but others did not, just like some of the general population gets infected, while others do not. A lot has to do with condom use, but, that said, condoms don't protect against all STIs, but some of it seemed to be chance/bad luck. One lady I knew who pole danced, but was not having sex with customers (or anyone at all) caught an STI from the pole. This lead to certain STIs being classified as an occupational hazard for pole dancers - at least in my province.

I agree, however he only has had the opportunity to become a hardworking person who could achieve things in his own right because he is male. From what I saw on the show, the girls never had these opportunities. The closest was lay midwifery and volunteer first responder (complete with ridiculous first responder skirts that would make it literally impossible to do adequate chest compressions!) That just doesn't equate.

Totally agree. He lives in that contradiction between being the righteous Christian family man and finding ways to fulfill the sexual desires of a repressed bubble boy who finally figured out the air outside wasn't poisonous and in fact, it was just a tad exhilarating.
