still catching up on this thread, but i highly doubt they deal with real drug addictions. the most drug activity they probably get is someone who occasionally smoked weed or popped an unnecessary pill once in a while.

I wouldn't be so sure. The Reformer's Unanimous program that my former church did definitely had some drug addicts. They weren't there to detox, though, most had been recently released from jail. I can't remember much (it's been about 10 years) but I vaguely remember them saying it was a prison/jail ministry and they were doing something like a work-release. I also remember that all of the people at the RU home were men. Women attended the meetings but there were no women at the house they had. This was a long time ago, though, so it looks like they expanded to include women.

interesting. i wonder what kind of jails contracted with them, or what kind of choices inmates had about where they went.

even so, i still highly doubt they dealt with higher risk addicts. they don't seem like they really have the resources.

Anna really didnt deserve to be brought up in this crappy environment. But the fact that she was the rule-follower growing up... I wonder if that's what keeps her in. I have found that a lot of people who follow strict fundamental principles are the type of people who love rules--imposing them and following them. I think there's a personality to type to people who need to have rules in order to survive life. Maybe they are scared by the randomness of life.

I think this makes a lot of sense. My dad's family is fundy but he was the rebel so I escaped most of it however I was molested by a step grandfather, a preacher, and that turned me off religion for good. If that hadn't been my experience I can see that lifestyle appealing to me. I get overwhelmed with choices to the point that I once begged my husband to let me buy all the paint that others had return and just randomly set one in each room to avoid having to decide on my own.

Yes, she's the one's who's husband posted details of Anna and Josh's wedding on TwoP. They had two kids at the time, don't know if they had more since. I followed his blog for a while--he had some great introspective posts, looking back at who he was when he was ATI and trying to be better now.

I know I'm late, but I wanted to add my WTF to the "rape-depression" treatment. You get raped, you get depressed, then you get sent to this work camp where you get 6 1/2 hours of sleep a night. You get work and Bible Study. No complaining allowed. Less visiting time than prisoners get. Just call it what is, a reeducation camp.

The Danica Dillon thing is so super suspect to me. I don't think it couldn't have happened, I just think that there's really no down side for her coming out with all this whether any of it is true or not. She's getting a metric shit ton of press for this and if it comes out that she's a big fat liar, well that's just a second metric shit ton of press. I can't see it hurting her career one way or another. I don't think that she will be sued for libel because it would open a can of worms the Duggars desperately wants shut... and I think she and her publicist probably know that.

So that being said, her mentioning twice that he had terrifying sex with her without protection, I have to wonder why she's specifically pointing that out. I think it's just another detail to make it more salacious, but again, it could also be 100% true. Nothing she said is really that out there, it just sounds highly exaggerated at the minimum.

Anyway, just wanted to say, to Jill's credit, during the Kelly interview, I very clearly remember Jill saying that there was a difference between forgiveness and trust. Which gave me a glimmer of hope that Jilly does not trust good old Josh anymore.

Also, I always wondered why JD and Josh were not closer, being that they are the 2 oldest boys and not far apart in age. Guess we know why now. Josh probably always had this perverse streak in him, then he molested his sisters, etc.. While, IMO, JD is just a good ole country boy who actually works and spends time with friends. I wouldn't be surprised if JD is disgusted by Josh just like the rest of us

I'm still staggered by the mental gymnastics involved in the question and response "Do you think it is possible for someone to be an atheist and still have a solid moral framework by which to live? No" on the profile he (a 'moral' Christian) is using to cheat on his wife. He is claiming that Christians are more moral than atheists during his preparations to commit an immoral act. *Shakes head*

That of course pairs well with "How often do you keep your promises? Always". Ummm, Josh you are filling out these questions in an attempt to break your promise of being faithful to your wife. Argh.

Ah, the hypocrisy in all of this would be almost beautiful if it wasn't so tragic. Although I am somewhat sympathetic to Josh in this situation (and this situation only), I feel worse for Anna and the M kids. I pity her and feel sorry for them at this point. My feelings towards her cancel any compassion I would be having for Josh for breaking out of the fundieworld (in a way) otherwise.
