Joshley Madison Part 5 - Rehab and women and porn - oh my!

just saw there's a part 5 now. Feeling kind of late to the party

anyway...so I felt like I should go visit the old residential treatment website over at reformersrecovery.com/schools

and saw this

"Statistics of Graduates from the Discipleship Homes

Click here to read the four reasons for our superior results. Some important statistics:

* Victorious over addiction after one year- 80%

* Gainfully employed after one year- 79%

* Right in relationships after one year- 80%

* Faithful in church after one year- 76%"

What I thought was interesting (for lack of a better word) was the bolded. Someone help me out. Relationships = spouse? (as in, you will be able to talk your way back into the marriage? as in, you will go ahead and find a new one?) family? friends? I just feel like it's worded oddly.

Problem is, Josh is there voluntarily. While as some have said,he may pretend to thrive in this environment (he's a good poser) and emerge a new man, he can also say "fuck it, I'm outta here" at any point if things get too tough. show.

It's not going to get too tough. It's going to be the same the 50th day as it was the 5th day, if he makes it that long.

The entire program is get up early, work all day, go to some kind of church service, play checkers with the other inmates for an hour and go to bed.

The stuff that makes real rehab tough is all the soul searching and analysis and getting real that happens as people with addictions try to overcome their demons.

Joshley's "rehab" is nothing more than an endurance test. He can certainly make it the 28 days (or whatever his sentence is--I expect nothing longer than a month,) necessary so his reputation is redeemed and he returns to the bosom of his loving wife.

Probably some ISTJs. Far fewer INTJs and probably hardly any INTPs. They'd probably wander off in very early childhood, preferring to be raised in the woods by wolves.

I remember reading once that INTJs typically are the least likely to be religious, and the least likely susceptible cults.

I suspect all the kids who are "INT"s meet up in the woods and start some feral children civilization a la Lord of the Flies. (Except it probably functions better and makes more sense than the Fundie world.)

And this talk of Myers Briggs makes me think of Halcionne. Where'd she go?

I'm picturing the Food Glorious Food scene from Oliver.

(but lunch probably depends on which ditches they are sent to dig)

Yeah, I'm guessing they take a break on-site wherever they're working and eat bagged lunches or something. Maybe the women have to make them

Relationships probably mean spouse or parents.

These statistics are bullshit. We've been dealing with an addiction exacerbating some mental health issues in my family for years now and met all sorts of people also battling drug and alcohol addictions. If their work, Bible, Bible, Bible, work, work, sausage and spam method actually worked, everyone would be doing it.

Not possible.

I'm SURE he will come back as a NEW person just as he did last time (sarcasm) and I'm SURE he will be home the 80th day after Meredith's birth!

The Rulebook states that inmates residents of the rehab centre are allowed to receive jelly beans and chocolate bars in their care packages from home, unless they struggle with weight/eating.

How much you want to guess that Smuggar is free to receive chocolate bars, but that a woman with the same BMI would instantly be denied food as she clearly has a weight problem??

Still need to go back and read this thread. But first wanted to comment...

If the stuff that stripper said are true about the rough, degrading sex....I worry even more for Anna. If that's Josh's "thing"....then will Anna be forced to participate in it once Josh is "cured" at the faux-rehab place??

I wonder if they do the reprogramming people trying to "pray the gay away?" Maybe that's why it says the thing about right in relationships? But I would be surprised if the did allow men struggling with homosexuality to live in the same house with other men because of the temptation factor- and because they seem pretty crazy about the no talking to anyone of the opposite sex at any time for any reason. But, it is very interesting about the "right relationships," so they could very well be engaging in reprogramming those afflicted with the gayness!! (Heavy sarcasm) Which would just be a whole other level of awfulness.

I'm quoting from the now locked "It has started - women come crawling from the woodwork thread"

"I understand your point, I could totally see JimBob acting that way...I just have a hard time with unsophisticated Josh not being star struck or something. He seems like a passive sneak attack sort of guy-like with his sisters. I just picture when the boobs are actually out there, him being shy and more submissive.

But I could see it both ways. I'm just playing devil's advocate. I would expect her to have more experience than Josh, but I'm not trying to victim shame. Something's just a little off on her story imo."

I feel like this is pretty accurate. If Danica was the first/only woman he cheated on Anna with and he was starstruck by her then I can't see him throwing her around. Unless he's had prior practice. And if him and Anna don't have rough sex then Danica must not be the first woman he cheated on her with. Or Danica's making it up for publicity after hearing Josh "liked" her on his fake facebook. And not much Josh can do about it right now if he's in rehab and supposedly can't have contact with the outside world except for a 10 minute phone call a week. So it's not likely he's going to be confirming or denying anytime soon. In the mean time Danica is gaining publicity. :stir-pot:

He can't take phone calls for a bunch of days after getting in there. I wonder if anyone will fill him in on any further developments in the media once his blackout time is over. Like if a sex tape suddenly appeared, would they tell him

I think all intuitive thinkers are more likely to see through fundie bullshit. But some of the extroverts probably use their intuitive thinking to manipulate sheep and become fundie leaders.

INTPs are just more likely than J's to break rules. They only follow rules that they deem logical. So they're more likely to both see logical inconsistencies and then completely disregard any rules associated with them. They probably get beaten with the most regularity.

I doubt he is allowed any kind of cell phone. You can arrange a hooker on flip phone.

If anyone has anything to add to latest updates please feel free to do so. Also, if anyone has better title suggestions, I'm all ears. I'm not very creative right now and that was the best I could do.

How about "This was terrifying.....then it got creepy."

I wonder if anyone has been assigned with going through his computer?

I wonder if he will be giving up internet or under some kind of accountability mentor when he gets out?

Another thing I was just thinking...

I have this weird feeling that Smuggar might actually like it there. It's a place with a strict routine and people telling him what to do all hours of the day/night. Jinders are segregated. Hair has to be short/above ear/eyebrows and combed neatly. dress code. manual labor. they are isolated from the outside world....am I the only one that thinks it sounds like the big boy version of growing up at the TTH?

Edited to add: and if he doesn't like it, at least it's something he's used to.

Now this makes me wonder.....has anyone scrubbed his computers and phones? If Anna had his passwords, did she find something "ungodly"?

Wonder where/who has his computer and phone now? Certainly not one of the younger kids and most especially not any of the girls (Jana).

Is JB smart enough to scrub a phone/computer? Would JB risk taking it to an outsider to scrub?

Well those are quite the "success" rates. They must be very accurate.... And not at all self reported.

No one in that family is strong enough to scrub Josh's online accounts. If I had to pick one it would be JD but the parents probably think he could be too easily defrauded and they'll make a girl do it and it will traumatize her!

Husband and I were just talking about getting dressed up in our Sunday best and popping over to the North Love Baptist Church for services one of these Sundays. It's so close to our house. Since the fellas have to attend every service - it might be fun to see him. :cracking-up:

If he had a lick of sense and a credit card with a balance he'd light out of there and emigrate to another country where he's not known and where people will pay him to teach English to foreigners. He hasn't got any background in teaching English as a Second Language, but he speaks English. For a lot of organizations that teach people on the cheap, that's enough. As far as we know he's never been convicted of a crime, so he might be able to get a work visa and eventually apply for citizenship. The Duggars can explain this as Josh "choosing a life of celibacy to make up for his sins" and "doing God's work in Chile" (or wherever in the world he might go that doesn't have a big Duggar fanbase). Meanwhile he could play around to his heart's content as long as he's making money, though he obviously won't have the equivalent of $1500 to throw around at one prostitute at any given time.

Like....I get that this might be great for Josh, but. Holy crap, what a nightmare to unleash upon the world. Famous USian fundie taking time for a "service" mission? Yikes. :( I can only see him racking up more victims, tbh.

why bother risking an outsider saving incriminating evidence before scrubbing a phone/computer? Just smash it up/ destroy the hard drive and buy new ones
