Josh Duggar Checks into Rehab

No, it is not.

There is no such thing as sex or porn addiction.

It might be in the diagnostic manual and lots of people believe/claim/have been diagnosed with it, but it remains a debated topic.

Plus--there is the additional issue of "addictive personality". No one can be physically addicted to porn--but they may obsessively and compulsively use it. They want to keep experiencing the feeling they get when they use porn and dont care what the consequences are.

People that have an addictive personality can be "addicted" to anything. Its not uncommon for an addict to switch from alcohol to gambling to whatever else that the become obsessed with or that gives them a particular "high" they desire to replicate.

On the one hand, I'm glad that he's away from Anna and the kids (now that we know that like his dad, he has apparently never heard of condoms, I am praying that Anna has the good sense to get herself and Meredith tested for STDs), but on the other, you know that it's going to be completely ineffective and he'll probably get kicked out for jerking it in the bathroom or something.

And really, I want to feel bad for Josh, because he didn't choose to be born the son of an ultra-religious sociopath who gets off on controlling women and children and running his own little cult, but he chose to molest his sisters. He chose to go along with the lies his family likely told Anna and her parents. He chose to continue the courtship even when it likely became clear to him that it wasn't what he wanted. He chose to keep his family in the public eye by agreeing to continue the show with more focus on him, Anna, and their children. He chose to go on Ashley Madison. He chose to make social media profiles to find women on the side. He chose to pay thousands of dollars to have degrading, rough sex with a stripper whose repulsion for him was held back only by the fee he paid. He chose to do those things. He could have taken a different path before it all came to this. And now his choices have come back to haunt him, and I cannot feel any sympathy for him, just schadenfreude.

How much does this 6 month Journey to the Heart stint cost?

The site says "thousands less than secular rehab", but since it's likely still in the tens of thousands, that's not saying much. And they probably save a shitload by making them do some hard labour (it's good for the soul- this will heal you) for free for six months. I'm wondering if it's more of a cash grab...

Anyone want to "take one for the team" and try to apply just to see if we can get a copy of all the rules and handbooks? I'm sure they wear chore packs on a lanyard all day.

Dollars to Duggars JimBob negotiated a cheaper price in exchange for all the social media attention this hell hole would receive.

Their rules look just like how Josh grew up. How exactly do they expect it to work this time? Oh, I know. He will have zero freedom once back home. No internet. JimBob will probably take over his finances (Anna couldn't possibly). Accountability partners all the time.

Sucks to be Josh.

If they treat him that way once he's home I think he might leave, which would be a great result! Having said that, I also believe that if he's given any leeway at all after his "treatment" he will eventually go back to some form of the behaviors that got him into trouble the first and second time, given nothing has been addressed. (I'm not saying it's an addiction, though.)

The Duggars would get some kind of professional courtesy for sure! Absolutely.

I just noticed they're required to bring their own bedding and towels. Women are required to bring proper hosiery. Well, they would say that.
