Joshley Madison: 2 Sex Scandals and Counting

I have to say I feel a bit sorry for Jill and Jessa (and the other victims): they went out of their way to make excuses for their brother, and put themselves into public controversy by doing that. And now this. I bet they want to strangle him for sure by now.

I just hope that the Duggars finally realize that the stupic Gothard-cult ways won't ensure that your children grow up to be decent human beings, on the contrary.

I actually give him props for owning it and pointing out the hypocrisy. He's still a douche though

this so much. the statement is actually loads better than i even dared to dream it would be, even though he's probably only totally owning up because of the glaring evidence.

while he's still smugger, i genuinely hope he learns from this, and not just how to sneak around better.

We also know from this that Josh did NOT confess his sins in May when Joshgate1 hit.

It's interesting that he reminds us of his past transgressions in this new statement.

STATEMENT IS UP!

Ok, now I'm in tears and I am praying for them. He is actually doing the right thing by owning up.

As I suspected, JB and J'chelle didn't see this one coming either.

I am not sure I would want to be fly on a TTH wall this time.

I agree. I think they were blindsided by this yesterday. The fact that the Duggars are currently scattered about in various locations makes me more certain.

Josh is disgusting. Poor Anna.

I wonder if they now have better PR advisors than last time, or if Josh finally realized that there is nothing to be gained with downplaying such things anyway, and that it's much better if he just admits that he was very wrong.

I'm sure Michelle's phone battery is dead (as she is away at the moment), either that or she is cancelling her Commit engagement and flying home!

I don't know what I am enjoying more: Josh calling himself a big hypocrite, or Boob and Michelle not coddling him in their short statement.

Seriously? One well-crafted statement very likely informed by a PR genius, and you are back to leghumping this asshole?

Assholes gonna be assholes. :cray-cray:

EDIT: Oh, and he didn't "own up." He got fucking caught. There is a world of difference between those two things.

I had to read that statement numerous times. I almost thought it was a "prank" statement. I was not expecting him to own up.

That statement is a cop-out. At least he admitted to it but it seems they are playing the "forgiveness" golden child card again... :angry-banghead: :angry-banghead: :pull-hair: :pull-hair:

Sure he did, because that's what they do in fundie-ville.

In fairness, asking for forgiveness is appropriate anywhere. When you hurt someone (in this case, his family), you should ask them for forgiveness.

The problem is that in Fundie-ville receiving forgiveness is expected. And then, everyone is suppose to act like nothing happened.

My concern is that Anna is so indoctrinated that she won't discern a difference between forgiving him and staying with him. She can honestly offer her heartfelt forgiveness, but that doesn't mean she has to hang around to take more crap.

Dude, I sure would. I'd pay a pretty penny to know what's going on in the TTH.

I have to stuff envelopes at work today. I am rewarding myself by viewing this thread after every x number of envelopes.

I wonder if the Duggars are going to try to spin this by starting an anti-porn ministry. Because trying to make themselves the authority on sexual abuse worked so well.

I can't tell if he is specifically admitting to cheating, or that the pornography addiction counts as being unfaithful.

I just want to say that I love this. :D

That was far more straightforward of a statement than I had been expecting. Josh may have an addiction, but it does strike me as a way to spin this into people feeling sorry for him. Either way, good on him for calling himself a hypocrite.

This may sound sick, but did Josh actually cheat on Anna - like, physically? He admits to unfaithfulness, but I am wondering if he is considering viewing porn to be unfaithful, or if he did indeed have actual physical intimacy with other women.

Buh-bye, Joshie.

Me too! I first thought this was someone else writing the things they thought he should write.

I think that by now, even the Duggars realized that they can't hide and downplay their sins anymore. In fact, Josh might be getting a lot more sympathy with such an open statement than he would get otherwise.

Wow. That is direct and to the point, isn't it?

about freaking time they are direct and to the point!

1 point for being direct and to the point

minus 1,000,000,000,000 points for being a hypocrite.

I have a feeling that when the molestation scandal his parents probably pitied him, cried for him and prayed for him. This time I think Jim Bob probably screamed to the point those veins started popping out and threatened to, if not, beat his ass. I'm sure they are mad as hell. Josh single-handed (with the help of his parents for not getting him help) took down their future meal plan for 30 plus people.

I think he "owned it" as in admitting to it, rather than skating around the issues. and like I said before, he's still a douche.

All the statement proves, imo, is that Josh and his PR team have learned that it is finally time to stop lying and covering up, because the media is bigger than him.

I fear for Anna and the kids. In the fundie world, if the man confesses his sins, then the wife has to forgive him, or else she is the one sinning.

JB is a creeper.

JB is overt about sexuality; flaunts it, and uses it as a tease to his children

JB associated with creepers like Gothard and exposed his kids to creepers during their impressionable years.

JB sold the family to the media as wholesome and above.it.all, for easy cash.

JB isolated, restricted, condemned his kids all while virtually ignoring them in deference to "the next and counting" kid.

Any one surprised at the behaviors of the #1 son?

JB, Michelle, Josh- are now going to reap.

God bless those little M kids and Anna- the Kellers should step in and help them out.

I didn't mean that comment in relation to you-- just to the person giving him aaaaaaaaaall the leghumps because he did the right thing by owning up when he was kind of forced to do so. :)

For his fairly limited understanding about what a healthy sex life and a healthy marital relationship really are, I have to give him some credit for his directness in this. It would have been very easy for him to just blame Satan or the evil liberal media.

He's still a misogynistic jerk, but he's actually taking responsibility for his actions, even hampered by his lack of education and lack of understanding.

Josh's statement was very "meh" for me. He got caught, he had no choice but to admit to it. And he didn't take ownership of what happened - he's basically blaming it on the pornography, which as anybody who is familiar with the Ken and Lori thread knows, can be explained away by a lot of fundies as not even cheating, not as bad as a nagging wife, and usually the fault of a wife who is not always readily available.

His statement just didn't do it for me. He's not sorry it happened. He's sorry he got caught.
