OMG. Often? Often???? The revelations are gonna get worse. This is the tip of the iceberg. Were any of the other boys involved in abusing their sisters? Don't boys try to emulate and imitate the oldest brother?

Remember when Josie had a seizure, and the girls taking care of her, including Jana, didn't run down the hall to get John David the trained EMT? Why? Were the girls that reluctant to go to John David's room? That's all shades of strange right there.

Maybe the Duggars were prepared for this. The police report was on record. The only thing that was sealed was the minors names. The timing of everything is really weird. End of season, a long weekend, Josh having a house in Arkansas. Unless JB supports him or Josh gets of his add and gets a real job he's screwed. I feel bad for the M kids and maybe Anna.

And at least some conservatives have sense. Huckabee lose votes. The majority dont. I can't believe a show is more important than a person's well being. Especially a victim. Funny how Trayvon or Mike Brown weren't just kids. But Josh Duggar was 14 and just a kid it's okay. Sick fools! How will people talk to their kids about why they can't watch the show anymore.

I thought it was really interesting that Huckabee publicly supported Josh this morning, but a few hours later announced he would not be participating in the upcoming Iowa Straw Poll. I suspect his campaign manager read him the riot act in between those two occurrences :penguin-no:

Well i'm pretty sure the Bates family are not as messed up. They have their problems, but for a long time its seemed like they really are everything the Duggars have pretended to be.

I don't know about all that, but I do wonder how the Bates are handling this. They may not be perfect but I can't see them being quite so free about this.

I probably should clarify that I didn't mean the Bates were any less fundie or 'acceptable'. It just seems to me that as far as image goes, they appear to be the kind of fundie family that the Duggars pretend to be IE 'fellowshippin', fun, a mother who can identify individual personality traits in her children, love gawd and each other'.

They're in denial like Cleopatra7 said. They have to acknowledge a christian family who dresses modesty doesn't drink smoke and only have sex when married did this.

The tlc site is more support of the girls than Josh. Even Huckabee fb page is against what Josh did. The fan page for fox news, 19kids and other christian sites are horrible. One comment said she was molested and she gives Josh props for repenting. She wished her abuser done that. Another said we should all move on its in the past and they're trying to take down christians. You sick thumpers! I can't read anymore comments including from people on my friends list. I can't forgive a person who took a child's worth and innocence away.

All of these fundies/supporters believe he was just a kid when he molested people at age 14.

They also believe a 14 year old would burn in hell for eternity should they die without being saved. In that case of course they are old enough to know right from wrong and be accountable.

So I've ignored a lot things that set of my "creepy molester" spidey sense (worst super power ever, lol). But now I'm gonna post my thoughts even if its kind of out there.

Why was Josh so into video/media production during the early years of the show? I always thought it was weird that this family that doesn't allow their kids to watch TV or movies had all this dedicated equipment and media space for "video production". And how did JB know exactly which cop to go to when he needed to report his son? It wasn't that he just went to a friend in law enforcement. He went to a friend in law enforcement who conveniently also had a problem with child pornography. That seems like more than coincidence.

JB has all of these children and they have this space dedicated to media production - that alone seemed fishy. But then JB was friends with police officer connected to child pornography? Something isn't right here and I think it goes deeper than Josh. I worry for these children still in the home.

I've been rewatching some of the earlier episodes that are out there online (no royalties for Jim Bob and Mullet from me) and have been closely watching the behavior of the other girls around the time of Josh's wedding.

They're all ecstatic. I imagine it's because it was the only way to get him out of the house. That's why Jana was beaming in all those earlier episodes. There's one when the older kids go out to dinner to celebrate Josh's upcoming nuptials. Jana is just so freaking excited Josh is leaving. She plans and has a literal celebration dinner at a fancy (by Duggar standards) restaurant to celebrate that he's no longer going to be in the same house as them. A lot of us all thought Jana was becoming more withdrawn, but what if she was withdrawn to begin with because of the abuse? And what we, as viewers, saw in the first three seasons was Jana excited for Josh to be far away from her younger sisters? But then Josh started having his own kids and she started worrying for the Mkids?

Also in the old episodes, Jill also is more excited than she usual. Jessa is extra bitchy. She doesn't give a crap about this in the sense of "why should I ever be happy for Josh?"

They weren't excited for the prospect of having a wedding. They were happy that a predator was leaving their house. There's also a weird comment Mullet makes about Josh's physical desires.

It's just so messed up and heartbreaking.

Hi all, yet another longtime lurker and actually registered a couple months ago, but man this is bringing us non-regular posters out.

A thought I had tonight- would it be possible that another network, like UP (knowing their love of Christian programming, and they even replay 7th Heaven now), would pick up/buy out rights from TLC for 19k and continue with the next season? I know it's happened with other reality shows, moving to a different network, but I don't know if any have faced this massive of a situation.

For the record I fully believe they should be cancelled, just wonder if UP (or another network) will feel differently....

I know there is a HUGE difference between what Josh did and what the teachers did at my old evangelical school/church, but I'm mentioning it because of how Jichelle and the church elders hid this secret from the proper authorities and didn't do the right things for the most part.

When I was in the 4th grade, I had an abusive teacher. She was never sexually abusive (thank god) but was emotional,verbal, and sometimes even physically abusive. When a kid got hurt during gym (right in front of her!), she coldly told him to get up. She didn't check to see if he was hurt. Just told him to get up. Another kid had learning disabilities. The teacher yelled and pretty much told him that he'll never be good at math/school that he might as well give up. This made him upset to the point her had an asthma attack. I never got the brunt of it (though I still still witness other kids getting yelled at, putting me in a constant fearful state, praying that I would not be yelled at). I told my parents and (unlike Michelle who has been told to be sweet and nice and not to make a fuss) my mother went into mama bear mode and confronted the teacher as well as the school officials. I should note that the type of religion (while not as strict as the Duggars') has women pretty much not hold leadership roles because women (according to the Bible) "aren't supposed to hold roles that will have them in charge over men". So when my mom comfronted them about the abuses that my teacher did, they probably were like "Why should we listen to you, woman?" (one of them even came to the meeting drunk! That's how much he didn't take this seriously!). My mom put up such a fuss that they pretty much wanted to kick my family out of the church. My family ended

up leaving because of all the nonsense that went with the church.

The abusive 4th grade teacher was in her post for OVER 30 years. Some of my neighbors went to that school and have been abused by her. One was locked in a closet by her.The abuse also didn't stop when my family left. One kid got clotheslined by her (clotheslined is a move where you hold out your arm and the victim gets hit against the arm) when he was running down the hall. There was this kids with Tourette's that was treated like dirt. The only reason that the 4th grade teacher quit was because a parent threatened to SUE her. Even then, the 4th grade teacher still participates in church activities. Last time I checked, she's a church greeter.

This wasn't the only abusive teacher that the church didn't do anything about. Around the same time I had the mean 4th grade teacher, my sister dealt with an abusive Kindergarten teacher (bless my mom for having to deal with two abusive teachers in one year). Pretty much verbal, emotional, and sometimes physically abusive. One time the teacher forcibally tried to drag my sister into the classroom. Luckily my mom was there was this happened and my mom was like "Don't you dare do that to my child!". I also had to deal with that teacher during math in the 1st grade (I have no idea why this arrangement happened, since the rest of the lessons were taught by the official 1st grade teacher so why couldn't she teach math as well?). The Kindergarten teacher yelled at me and made me cry. This teacher also taught at the school for 30 some years. She ended up retiring (not being forced to leave because of potential law suits).

There was also this 7th grade teacher that I didn't have to deal with. He had anger issues and went to anger management class MULTIPLE times. When some of the church members went

to his house, they like to mess how things were arranged in his house so they could see him get angry over it. I heard in one post on facebook that he pushed a few kids around. I should note that this teacher was very very tall. He now teaches the 4th grade and is the Athletic director. Oh goodie...

But yea, evangelical churches like these really don't want to rock the boat and cause a fuss...even when something ILLEGAL is happening. My mother told the church that they could be in trouble for not reporting the abuses my fourth grade teacher was doing. They still didn't do anything about it. I really hope that there hasn't been any sexual abuse going on in the church that the whole group has known about and not told the police about. If so..thank god my family left.

I never expected that Josh had ever sexually assaulted someone. I suspected that he messed around with a CONSENTING girl, not....not this! I hope that the girls finally break out from the compound, tell-all (when they're ready), and live wonderful lives. Of course, I also want the show to get cancelled (especially because I want to imagine JimBob getting the news and have that smug grin being wiped from his face).

Honestly, had I read the Duggars' responses to the events without knowing what happened I would think that he cheated on Anna or something similar. His remorse, his apologies sound like that of a politician caught on camera with his pants around his ankle and an intern. WTH.

The cast of the first show was scheduled to do an appearance on the second show. You probably already heard about the fact that the second show turned down the appearance of the first show’s cast and reported the problem to law enforcement.

Well, that’s not the whole story!

The second show could not just “pass†on a major network cross-promotion without giving a reason to their network bosses. So they told the network executives about the problem with the first show’s cast. And guess what the network executives did about it? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. They did not want to do anything that would cause controversy or stop the income stream from the first show, so they did nothing and simply hoped that the problem would remain a secret.

So when the network finally does make some sort of announcement about how shocked and surprised and sad they are about the events… know that they are LYING. They knew about the problem months ago and chose to sweep everything under the carpet so that they could keep the show on the air and continue to profit from it.

Popular guesses are the Duggar's show, Oprah, and Discovery which owns OWN and TLC. It's not like the answer wasn't obvious.

There were a few responses that said the Willis family and that makes more sense to this gossip. It says a crossover show and the offer was declined a few months ago. Oprah's interview was suppose to be 9 years ago and would not be a crossover show. I could see the Willis family during their first season to be asked to meet the Duggars in a crossover episode. So does anyone know a connection between these families? I saw the Willis family on AGT and read their story and decided I did not want to watch another TLC big family show. Is there any way the Willis family would have known about Josh? or have a dislike for the Duggars?

I don't know if the timing works for that blind item and Oprah/Duggars. Unless I'm misunderstanding.

OWN didn't exist until 2011. The whole Oprah fiasco and Duggar specials started back in 2006. The regular show kicked off in '09. I don't think they would have been cross promoting OWN before it was conceived.

Unless Harpo somehow knew they were gonna give the Duggars a slew of specials.
