I hope if he did touch his siblings in an inappropriate way, that they get some real counseling.

I'm shocked. I cant believe this information has been out there for a decade and no one found it. Not us, not TMZ, not TLC, not any one of the politicians he campaigned for...

Except. Razing Ruth. What if she was a victims?

TMZ just updated that all of the docs are going to be destroyed. One of the victims went to court.

WHAT??!!

I am literally on the verge of crying!

Look at us, the name of this website!!! FREEJINGER. How ironic that it would be so literal one day!

Jinger seemed the most sad and shy looking in the last few seasons! I'm really worried for her well-being.

And the other girls, too, of course, but Jinger just seems the most "endangered".

I am tearing up over this because I feel that Mullet blamed her daughters for their molestations. Josh is and always has been her favorite child, the one who could do no wrong.

The poor kids admitted to being spanked with a rod. I wonder what else happened in that house of horrors.

Jessa and Ben hold hands to pray the night before their engagement --> Michelle's head almost explodes

Josh repeatedly molests his sisters --> Michelle (and JB) cover it up

Mother of the Year, eh?

YES! I was thinking exactly this as I finished up reading this thread and the police report. I kept seeing Michelle's shocked and dismayed face when she saw Jessa and Ben front-hug at the Duggar/Seewald football game, (I think that's where it was anyway.) and yet they covered this up for OVER A DECADE and likely victim-shamed the girls as well. I am so fuming mad right now.

That's one I still wonder about. The worst part was that the mom was running an unlicensed daycare out of the house while the stepfather was living there. But it was all okay because he had repented to God. :ew:

She is still doing the same thing, running the daycare with the dad in the home, and he is suffering from Alzheimer's. Oldest daughter, the victim, actually has a heart condition or something unknown wrong with her. She is seeing lots of specialists, has a heart monitor, and has been in and out of a wheelchair.

WHAT??!!

To "keep an unredacted copy from leaking." They, um, can't destroy the internet. I assume the other victim is the unrelated girl. It's pretty obvious who all the others are, unfortunately.

Hey mods, out of respect to the victims, can we maybe think about removing the "I AM the sin in the camp" post title? It seems kind of wrong to me, in light of the situation being true.

How does one victim have the right to make that happen? What about the feelings of the other 4 victims?

So this family gets ANOTHER fucking pass in their fucked up lives?! This is insane. So I wonder who came forward to have them destroyed: one of the sisters, or the non-family member who likely got paid off!??!

She said it just this week again.

The girls are at fault in their mind. No doubt. Sleep in a long skirt and buttoned up shirt and stop stirring up desires in your poor brother!

So if the part of the old rumor is true and Josh was previously courting someone at 14 years old, how totally fucked up that their answer to "he molested people" is "marry him off at 14 so he can legally do it to someone else!" At 14!?

While I definitely appreciate the desire for the victims to remain unidentified, I can't help but think this is Step 1 of Operation Cover It Up and Hope That it all Goes Away.

I really don't think that the show is ending. If anything, Josh won't be shown except when necessary (like TLC did with Jon when the truth of his affair came out). But, he was already featured so rarely that I doubt people would really notice.

My gut feeling is that TLC doesn't want to pull the plug on this show just yet, as they are still getting respectable numbers, which translates into being able to charge advertisers a good amount. However, what are their advertisers thinking? Will some of them say they no longer want to advertise on this show? Will that hurt TLC's bottom line? If enough people are disgusted with the way the Duggar parents handled this situation and stop watching, advertisers will get antsy and also start moving their ads away. With TLC, the only thing that matters is their bottom line. If advertisers don't defect and neither do the viewers, they will not cancel the show. If the opposite begins to happen, they probably will. For TLC, it's not about doing the right thing -- it's about doing the thing that benefits their profit margin.

(Also, and this is minor and not related to the matter at hand, but Jon and Kate's marriage was a sham for some time with Jon living above the garage for awhile, while TLC kept filming them pretending to be living as husband and wife. When he finally realized the marriage was over and they filed for divorce, he chose to no longer be part of the show. And that's when they stopped filming him, and that's when viewers had way too much of the insufferable Kate without the benefit of the more pleasant Jon.)

They're trying to control the spin and keep things as vague as possible. The more details that remain unknown, the more control they have over the story. Or at least, the more control they THINK they have.

Either that or one of the victims truly is worried about vilification, which makes things even more upsetting given their strict rules about a woman's purity and whatnot.

This is a joke, right?

I seriously doubt that Josh molested a middle-aged woman living in California when he was 14.

The In Touch article stated a 61-year-old woman emailed Oprah's staff re the molestation in 2006. That makes me wonder if it was Jim Bob's mother Mary who blew the whistle. Does anyone know how old she would have been in 2006?

Someone else stated she was born in 1941. Not quite the right age, and GM Mary is pretty involved with Famy's new contract (and show, I guess? blech). I've always wanted to have a higher opinion of her, but I think she's just as grifty as JB and as ready to hide unsavory information to keep the family looking good.

And WTF is up with destroying the documents? That's wild. Guess the fifth girl wasn't a Duggar and values her privacy. Shame she wound up involved in all of this. Good thing the internet is forever and we have the docs elsewhere!

My money's on Dan Dillard finding out somehow. If Jill told Derick and Deck talked it over with his mother and/ or Dan. I don't think Dan has a very good opinion of the Duggars.

I hadn't thought about Dan. I was focussing on Ben's family.

Maybe this explains why Mullet was so upset with Josie for not wearing her jacket at Jill's wedding.

I don't know that destroying the documents changes anything at this point. I don't blame the girl for not wanting her identity to get out.

I don't think that this was a snap-decision made by anyone. It's likely that multiple people were behind this coming to light. Ben and Derick could have done it together. I wouldn't put it past Cathy and her husband. Amy would never (if so, why wouldn't she a long time ago?). It was clearly anonymous, which leads me to believe that it was someone close to the Duggars. JD may have access to the files, or perhaps being involved with the area PD he has found out more about the case and why there were no charges. Or it's likely that it was someone from the PD itself. That quote about the regrets sounds like it was made by someone from the PD. Either way, I don't think someone decided to do this overnight. I'm very sure that this was something that the tipper knew about for a while, and eventually needed to do the right thing.

Also, about Jessa's kissing photo, it's not uncommon for victims of sexual abuse to act weirdly slutty. It also makes sense her acting VERY cold toward Ben on camera, but in the background being affectionate with him.

I still feel nauseated about this whole thing

I'm surprised that it only takes 1 person's asking to have all the docs *destroyed*. What about the others? Wouldn't they need to ask for it to be destroyed, too? It's evidence of what allegedly happened to them, as well...

While the former is certainly a possibility, I worry that it may be the latter. Those poor girls. My heart hurts for them. This isn't their burden or their shame to bear, but the responsibility certainly has been dumped on their shoulders.

A good way to deal with this is of course add it to the show, which will give it drama (cautiously saying this) and having a family discussion on the events that previously occurred .

This situation should not be swept under to the rug by simply cancelling the show. There are many girls and boys across the nation who were fondled or abused in the home by a family member. I believe TLC should take this bold step by addressing a serious matter like this and to spark an open dialogue within the family.

How could they ever get honest, real permission from the girls to talk about this on air? They would be under pressure from their parents, their livelihood hanging in the balance, to just agree regardless of how they feel.
