Okay, this post is where she "outs" this woman, an acquaIntance, because the woman reveals that her daughter works online making bathing suits.  Lori asks for the link, but the woman says "no, I don't think you would be interested." (wow, she got Lori pegged really fast!).

I read that, and yes, Lori sounds like a Pharisee, 'I am glad that she realizes that I have higher standards than most in our culture'...cue Luke 18:11, 'God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are...'  However, I noted a discussion in the comments with a reader who identifies herself as an atheist, in which Lori is insistent that her God's way is best, but the tone is much less harsh and abrasive than it has been lately.  She even closes with 'Ally, I hope if a good man comes along, you will happily marry him, bear children, and be home full-time with them but more than this, I pray you come to know the Savior who bled and died for you so that you can have eternal life.  Blessings to you and I hope you enjoy your weekend too. Thank you for reading my blog and having a kind discussion with me!'  Dunno about anyone else, but I can't imagine Lori saying that now to someone now who disagrees with her, even in the smallest of ways.

My husband and I live in an RV, no AC, no furnace, no running water... no TV, no microwave, not even a toaster or a coffee pot lol... people say, "but you can' t live without ___!!" We're like - um yeah, you can. It's called living within your means.

But somehow this woman still has internet!! Its hilarious. I'd like to ask her if she can live without that.

Again Lori can't get out of her CA bubble. These things are only expensive because of CA!!!! Its the only state I am aware of where you have to pass smog tests. Insurance is of course more in a big metro area.

Sorry to drag this back to the sex discussion we were having at the beginning of the thread, but I found an incredibly interesting article that talks about how sex is far less binary than previously thought, and how that may occur. It does mention twin absorption in the womb as one possible cause of these non-binary states, so I was definitely wrong on that count (I apologise).

In my state I think my last car tag renewal was something like $60 something for 2 years. It was really cheap. Probably cheaper than a lot of her supplements and organic products.  Funny her going on and on about the cost of owning a second car but she thinks nothing about the cost of her organic products.

Well, this afternoon's ink waster is all about living within your means...again. You know the drill: get rid of the TV and cable, dump your cell phone, "no Saran wrap, no Baggies, no Ziploc, no Tupperware" (I don't know what we're supposed to do with the leftovers we're supposed to frugally save!). Oh, and no second car. Unless of course it's a gold Mercedes your parents gifted to you. :my_dodgy:

The comments are turning into one-upsmanship, as usual. But I think this leghumper has already won:

Although she does seem to have some sort of internet access, so clearly she's either got a computer or a cell phone. Tsk tsk. Not Godly enough, my dear. :naughty:

lol Lori's reply.

Wow! It's amazing how much we can live without in our materialistic culture that is constantly telling us what we NEED.

In the conversations about having two cars. Sev was probably pissed as hell at Laura's response. I was surprised that Lori didn't flat bash Laura and her hubby for having two cars. There are practical reasons for having two cars and sometimes it has nothing to do with materialism

Lori goes on her usual rant about struggling people having smartphones. She never considers the possibility that some struggling people got through smartphones for free through upgrade.

Edited- I removed the car conversation stuff as I didn't see earlier that another poster put screenshots up.

Here in "sin city" we have smog checks too. It's every year and you can get it done for about 17 bucks. My husband's car, for registration renewal and the associated taxes and fees was 146 bucks. Mine will be uner 100 bucks. His is more expensive because he has specialty plates and a portion of that fee goes towards veterans organizations here in NV. I have the cheap-ass standard plates.

Here in New Mexico some older cars('83 and older) have to go through smog tests. My aunt mentioned something a year or two ago about her brother-in-law's older truck didn't pass.

I agree, Lori is in that CA bubble. Not everything is expensive as in CA. If Ken really wants to move them out of there, I'm surprised he is trying to drill that many things are cheaper in other states.

Lori is one of those people who I would pay to live like she espouses that everyone else lives. I'll take up a collection--she can live in a crappy apartment, with six young kids, be in charge of grocery shopping and preparing (nutritious!) food on a tiny budget in a kitchen that's limited-space, and good old Lori can jump on the bus if one of the kids needs to go to a doctor's appointment. And then serve Ken when he gets home and be joyfully available after all that. Do it all with a smile and a joyful heart, Lori! Until she does all that for at least a year, she can put a sock in it about living in "godly" poverty.

The thought of being without a car panics me. I feel so trapped at home without a car. We did it a lot as SAHD in my fundie home growing up, and it was so depressing to stay home for days on end. I want to cry just thinking about being without my car.

@EowynW I can’t imagine. That was not my experience growing up but I know how difficult it would be to manage if DH and I only had one car. We have no public transportation here and shopping, doctors, etc are not located in areas where the majority of people can walk- and if you can walk to one, you are too far from the other. I simply couldn’t be without a car.

I read Lori’s discipline post. I think she embellished what is circled in green:

06D00454-B2BE-41DE-B2DA-5CB7F2CA34E7.jpeg

Also- behavior has a function or purpose- to escape something, to obtain something, or for sensory reasons.  If we challenge ourselves to identify the function, we can identify what skills to teach along with strategies to teach reinforce. We can also identify ways that we as adults can better regulate, thereby teaching that to the child. Go figure- you can manage behavior and teach some social-emotional literacy as well.

Now I will step off my infant and early childhood mental health soapbox.

Lori and her ilk never consider the fact that in some areas there is no public transportation or limited public transportation. I know a couple without kids who only has one car. In their situation, it works for them. The husband teaches at a community college and he takes the bus or will get an Uber if he has to run appointments or heads home early. The wife is one who uses the car most of the time. She's a home care nurse and does home visits at clients' homes. Their situation couldn't work for everyone.

This is an interesting exchange. Mr Nova is a mechanic so he and I have the same tactic as Laura. We only have cars that are considered classics here in CA. As a result they don't have to be smogged. We do have one "newer" commuter car that doesn't have to be smogged because it's an older diesel. We own them outright and the insurance and registration are much less expensive than a new car with the added bonus of no monthly payments. It is so much cheaper to maintain several older vehicles than owning one new car. Not to mention the convenience of not having to wait till hubby comes home to run errands.

All that to say that as usual, Lori has no f*cking idea what she's talking about. Lori should stick to talking about her stupid ass bathtub or her miraculous cheese made by cows or Door County or whatever other elitist, entitled, bubble woman shit she thinks she knows something about. Telling regular folks how to live their lives is not her forte and makes her sound even dumber than she normally does.

My husband and I are infertile (issues on both sides) and this is my thinking when I am at my lowest.  All I ever wanted was to be a mother and I never will be and it must be evidence of my sin and my horribleness.  I don't apply this thinking to my husband, and I know it's illogical and irrational but I will read about someone that abuses or murders their child/ren and cry because why did God give them a child but not me?  It is incredibly painful even now when I have worked through so many issues and no longer even really believe in God, but that indoctrination is strong.  Those hurtful words and others said to me by priests and those that claim to speak for God and the church turn out to be etched into me, no matter how many times I think I've washed them away.

If I still fully believed?  If I weren't married to my best friend, who supports me and comforts me and strengthens me?  If I were lost and still trapped in a church that was destroying me and came across Lori?  It breaks my heart to think of the women that are seeing and absorbing her poison, with no one to tell them different.

It took us 7 years to have our daughter. We wanted 2 kids. We only have the one, and we feel blessed with her. It was very, very hard when my female relatives and friends were all getting pregnant and I wasn't.  They were all overjoyed when we finally were able to announce that I was pregnant, and I appreciated that so much.  If I had someone tell me the crap Lori spouts while we were afraid we were never going to be able to have any, I probably would have imploded because if I had exploded it would have been fatal for someone. Lori is poisonous and she is dangerous.

we could probably get by on one vehicle. Hubs could take me to work, come pick me up and then I could drop him off at work and go pick him up. BUT...that's a monumental pain in the ass (we did it when my car was in the shop). And...hell will freeze over before I give up my Mustang! The damn car has cost us a bundle over the last year (we've put about 3 grand into it) but it's still cheaper than car payments!

It is possible for us to have one vehicle, but we have two. My husband has a classic El Camino which was originally a project car but then once our daughter got to driving age he let her use the car he drove to work and the El Camino is now his main vehicle. But he also works from home, so he really doesn't have too many times during the day when he actually needs to drive. But even when he did have a "real" job, his car was to get him to work and back. Since he prefers beaters and I like trustworthy cars :), we usually did all of our weekend errands, trips, etc., in my car anyway.  But it would be a lot harder if we did just have one car. But we don't want to.

Again, her ignorance and hypocrisy are on full display. She does none of the cost saving things she espouses. In fact, the only advice she actually follows is the child abuse she advocates. As my avatar suggests, I love my car and would never give it up to conform to  Lori's idiotic ideas. It's astounding that anyone follows her.

It's the typical "Do as I say, not as I do." Lori and her daughter-in-laws have their own cars. Emily got a new car the summer before last. A brand new Toyota SUV. Lori was so excited for her. The previous car she'd purchased on her own, which sounds dangerously feminist.

I hope one of her kids or their spouses completely turns on Lori and outs her. I bet Lori and Ken currently have two cars.

Lori's fangirls piss me off more because they keep trying to one up each other. But, it's funny that Lindy and the RV lady are preaching things like "Don't have the Internet".  While there are people who don't have Internet access at home and go to public libraries and other places to use the Internet, I don't think Lindy is one of those people. She posts on FB various times a day. Since she homeschools, I bet she uses certain programs. IIRC, she volunteered to delete shit for Lori.

"Barbara Bush is actually the child of Satanist Aleister Crowley??"   I know it's probably not the main point in this post to zoom in on, but it caught my eye and left me sort of gobsmacked. What planet do these people live on? :?

That part totally stuck out for me, too. WTF????

Where and why did they come up with that one? And back in the day when I taught at Christian school when he was first running in the primaries, W. was considered the model evangelical and they all loved him. When did that change to his mother being the descendant of satanists?

I just can't with these people.

I get it.  I rarely go anywhere from Monday afternoon until Saturday afternoon, my work schedule is in that time frame, and I work from home, so I don't need to leave the house.  But when my car is getting worked on, or I'm without my wheels for whatever other reason, it bugs me.  I want the ability to get in the car and go, even if I don't actually go anywhere!  It's a freedom thing.  No wheels doesn't exactly equal trapped, but it kind of feels that way.

Many of these people are so out of touch they don't realize just how much is done of the Internet. I get various emails throughout the day for school that I use my phone to check. Many job applications are online now and even schools are moving to the online realm. I did some research on this recently  for a class and I don't actually think it's that healthy or beneficial for schools to be moving so much stuff online (turning in assignments, doing tests etc) because some students don't have easy access to the tools. But that's only my opinion.

Also it is easier to have two cars when say for example you can't use the school bus (we lived too close to take the bus, but too far to walk) but your dad takes the only car you have at 6 in the morning to work. Searching for rides isn't fun. I sometimes wish we had two cars because you're always one break down away from not being able to get to work.

Anyways even "poor" people need phones now and yes many use their smart phones as a computer so they can get through daily tasks. So until Lori knows what every single poor person uses their phones for she can just stop being so judgmental.

So many things piss me off in the Lori threads. One of those is the way everyone chimes in with, for example, why only having one car doesn’t work for them. Guess what?  It doesn’t work for most families. We do not have to defend our choices, lifestyles or purchases to this horrible woman. And if we want to work outside the home, not just because we have to, but so that we can have Nice Things, who gives a fuck?  I hate it when we do this. Lori is the last person we should be apologizing to for our choices for us and our families!  Get three cars if that’s your thing. God.  She makes my blood boil.

Organic, organic, organic.... Why can't she just summarize it as "everything is organic!" Also I haven't really heard anyone say that more natural (the way God intended it) doesn't taste good, it's just the Oreos also taste good. Really, just drop your organic food porn pic and move on.

Yes, people are desperate to explain to Lori why they need two cars.  SHE AND KEN HAVE TWO CARS!!!

Her "ministry" has gone completely off the rails.

Don't homeschool?  You're denying God.

Don't agree with Lori?  You hate God and his ways.

Don't stay with an abusive husband?  You're sending him to hell.

Don't accept Lori's teaching?  You're going to hell.

And now this comment from a reader:

Quote

Well, yes, just yesterday I was having a discussion with a few younger women about modesty and ,of course, I was labeled judgmental. The only thing one can do is try to point out to them that as Christians there actually is a standard, the Bible, and that we are as Christians expected to hold each other to that. I also reminded them that it’s much better to have the sting of correction now, than the eternal suffering of hell.

Since when is salvation based on the modesty of one's clothing!?!

I love baseball but I'm dreading the new season because the White Sox ownership is THE FUCKING WORST. I watched Dominican League Baseball (Lidom!) over the winter and fell in love with their joy, spirit, and exuberance. The broadcasts were in Spanish and my Spanish is pretty weak but I loved catching phrases and repeating them. Bombe! I'm sad about MLB and Commissioner Idiota's busywork rules. But I love baseball, always and forever.
I guess I don't have a point. Just bitching. Te amo mucho, Lidom!

Feeling ragey this morning. I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon in the hope of getting help for an ongoing injury. I went to a (different!!) doctor late last year who completely blew me off. He wouldn't do diagnostic testin, he refused to send me to a specialist, and he just told me to "take it easy" and "take ibuprofen." I'm hopeful for today's appointment but I'm also feeling a SEVERE amount of rage at that doctor from last year!

It is definitely strep skin infection. I am getting so damn tired and run down from this. Who the f would immagine being hospitalized freaking TWICE for a rash?
