Amy has said she was unaware of the molestations. After it was exposed Amy realized why her mother and grandmother would not leave her side when she visited the Duggars.

That also might be Amy taking a speculative leap, unless she got actual confirmation from her Grandma and Mom that they knew and said nothing. Which would seem kind of weird (at least for Deanna). And if Grandma Mary knew, why would she protect one older granddaughter and leave younger girls on their own. Probably more likely is that Deanna and Grandma had a vague knowledge that Josh was acting out sexually, but were left to assume it was regular porn or fooling around with a girlfriend.

I believe that's true.  What a lovely story for their children one day when they ask how they met.

"Well, kids, it was so romantic.  A child sex predator was staying with MeeMaw and PawPaw and our fingers touched when I passed your Daddy the wi-fi password since we couldn't say it outloud....perverted ears listening and all!"

I nearly choked on my coffee. Thank you - I needed a good laugh to enter this week.

There’s a photo on IG of Hannah Wissmans bridal shower. It seems to have been held in her hometown. Michelle is there with the 4 youngest girls and Mykenzie. She looks happy ( and so grown! they all do, Josie is the only one who still looks like a little kid - when did that happen??) I’m glad she’s being included on the outings with the other girls instead of being stuck taking care of her litttle siblings while her mom obsesses over her dirt bag dad.

Josie looks so much like Josiah to me. I never noticed a resemblance before this. Hard to believe she is already 12. The four youngest Duggars' looks have been changing. I mixed up Jennifer and Jordan at first. Or maybe my eyesight is worse than I realize.

Mack all of a sudden got so TALL! She towers over Lolli or whatever Meech is calling herself these days.

So it's Lolli and Pop?  Cringe.  At least let the kids come up with the silly grandparent names all on their own.

I know it's a small thing, but just one more illustrator of how everything is contrived and performative with these people.

That said if I become a grandmother someday I will insist on being called Grandmama in Endora's accent.  Yes, all my future grandbabies will be required to do impressions of Agnes Moorehead.  And my ex will be Grandpapa whether he likes it or not.

My mother insisted on Grandmama ala Endora.  My sister had the first kid and it was too tough for him - sounded too much like Mama, so it was changed to Grandma.  But it's a noble objective, for sure.

If I have to one day love my grandbabies more than a sitcom character I will have to adjust.

Although, it is what my grandpuppies call me when they text me...I read it in the accent.

Interesting. I don’t follow the thread anymore so had no idea he had flunked out of his second college. So Jill’s homeschooling doesn’t seem successful in raising independent learners. Surprised /s
So what’s his current job?

THat makes me sad. I am guessing Tim wants to learn and isn't dumb, but never learned the skills necessary to succeed because his parents were too lazy to teach him.

I can think of more fitting names than Lolli and Pop but they're not very nice.  Suspect some of their grandkids can too, but have learned that it's best to remain silent.

I wonder who they're trying to convince at this point.

My parents (well my mom) chose Lolly and Pops as their grandparent names when my first nephew was born, so I don’t think it’s too uncommon. Though my nephew started saying “Poppy” once he began talking, so now it’s Lolly and Poppy.

Why do you think he's not dumb? Intelligence is mostly inherited and neither of his parents are smart people. I am under no illusion any of the Rod kids will be academically successful.

Mack looks so much like her maternal grandmother AND Josh. Poor kid.
I really wonder what they've been told, I'm assuming that their Dad is innocent but if they've even been told what the charges are.

In some ways they're both smarter than me.  I never figured out how to live job-free while supporting my family, buying homes, and vacationing regularly.  If I want thick lashes and endless amounts of tchotchke I have to work.

Except this is the kicker: The grands get to name you. I, for example, am Lala. Initially I was like, say what (or whom). Then I found out I sit behind another Lala at church. So I'm not the only one.

I think the younger girls look nothing like the older girls as teens. I’m not sure if it’s different make up trends, better nutrition, or what.

I'd guess better nutrition, perhaps along with countenances unaffected by the need to avoid an in-house predator.

Grandparent names...to my grandson I am "Nona". 9 year old granddaughter, "Grandma". Itty bitty, "Nana". Mr. Xtian was Poppa. Biological grandpa is "Grandpa first name". The kids seem to have no problem keeping it all straight. I do though, especially when they're all together...until Not-so Itty-bitty gets frustrated and yells Graaaaaaaaaaaandmaaaaaaaaaaa. Yes, that's how it comes out. Imagine in a higher pitched frustrated tween voice. Love it!

My mother (who has a lifelong bougie streak due to childhood bullying from the "rich" mill village kids) INSISTED that her only grandchild would be trained to call her "Grandmother Julia", in full. (Not her real name, but you get the idea.) She refused to retrench from this, offer any backup ideas, or anything else. We live in the southeastern US, and the default formula around here is "mee-maw". We tried to warn her, but... Meemaw she now is. She still tries to correct my nephew when he says it, but it's a lost cause.

The same child in question calls me a blurred combination of "Aunt" and my first name, mashed together. It's adorable, and I hope he always does it. Not the exact name, but it sounds like "An'Ammie".

My son just asked me yesterday why everyone says aunt different. He likes some youtubers from different parts of the country and I told him it’s just regional. It’s funny how YouTube has made us have a lot of convos about pronunciation. He likes a Canadian YouTuber and he’s always pointing out the words he pronounces differently. I like that he’s figuring out early on that everyone talks differently and it’s fine.

I always think it's funny when grandparents think they get to pick their own name. My mom wanted to be Grandma - that's ALL she wanted. But my son (her only grandchild) couldn't quite say that... so for a long time - she and Grandpa were called what he COULD say. He's come around a bit now & can say them properly but sometimes we still call them the original names.
And my sister - she just got Aunt. No Aunt So&So - just Aunt. My son has a million Aunts - and they're all Aunt Jane, Aunt Mary etc. Except Aunt. She's just Aunt. My other sister is Aunt Name - but... Aunt is a special I guess.  We're not sure why - but I think she does really love that she gets her OWN name in the sea of other Aunts.

It's also confusing on my husbands side because my son is late in the list of Grandkids and there are actually GREAT Grandkids who are older than he is. So people are used to looking at a kid and referring to Grandma GG (what THEY call my husbands mom) but for my son - she's JUST Grandma. Chalking that up to "big family weirdness"

We call our dad "Papap", so instead of the regional specific thing in our language that he wished to be called, my nieces and nephew call him "Papap". My oldest niece started it and he was not happy about it but resigned to his fate ever since. They call their grandparents from their dad "Big Mama" and "Big Papa" just as requested by said grandparents, tho.

My nieces and nephew have 4 aunts so far (biological and by marriage) and they call them "Auntie So&so" except for me. When they say "Auntie", it means me, and no one else. If they call me "Auntie Arareyeah" it means I'm pissing them off. 😂😂😂

Ah yeah. I'm in sorta similar position with the great grandkids in your husband's family. My late granda was the oldest so I'm older than some of my dad's cousins. It feels weird calling them "aunt" and "uncle" while they call me with big sister honorific before my name. (our culture is big on honorifics)

My mom has always been into dressing up. Think glitz, glamor, full makeup. She never quite knew what to do with my casual ass. 😝Back when my son was born, one of my siblings suggested that he call my mom Glamma. I think it was a joke, but I saw the glint in my mom’s eye and shut that shit down. Hard. 😂

When I joined the family - some of my nieces and nephews were in their late teens.. And now they have kids that are older than mine (their actual cousin). So I tell them "If I can go to the bar and drink with you - I might not actually answer to Aunt Meggo." So I think there are only a few kids that are actually that old and call me Aunt Meggo. Pretty relaxed.
