First off, hello to returning posters! I've missed so many of you. I would LOVE to see @VelociRapture or @singsingsing back again too. 

Second, hello to new members! I left lurkdom during Joshgate 1.0 and have never regretted it, in spite of the absolute lack of self-control I have when FJ gets interesting and I spend hours and hours here. Welcome!

Third, thoughts on the issue at hand:

1. I feel weirdly relieved for Meredith. Ever since Mason was described as a "redemption baby" it's felt like she got a short end of the stick in the lineup. Now there will be another baby who may be able to relate. None of them deserve this, but I'm rooting for them all to get through this childhood and life as well as they can.
2. Whatever Josh did, I expect the punishment to be as light as it can be. His WASPy self will fare well in the justice system in some ways, and badly in others.
3. I have no more sympathy for Anna until she moves on from this shit marriage. ANNA, IF YOU ARE READING THIS, GET OUT! THERE ARE GOOD CHRISTIANS AND SECULARS OF EVERY FLAVOR WHO WILL HELP YOU AND YOUR KIDS.

Two questions for anyone in the know:

1) that old trope about child molesters not faring well in general population in prison... how big of a thing is that?  Is that the kind of rumor where a couple of guys got beat up or killed in prison and now everyone just figures it always happens? 

2) back when Josh got raided there was talk about something going on with Marshallese women at a church near where they lived (like baby selling or human trafficking, that sort of thing).  Anyone local know if that's still being looked at?

My nephew’s very WASPy uncle served 30 months in federal prison for embezzlement, money laundering and wire fraud. And was financially  ruined. It’s not much protection if the Feds have the evidence and they usually do.

Yeah, I have no problem with it. Pretty much everyone who is online and wants the vaccine has had it by now. The people who are left are either Q-crazy, people who can't get online to register for the vaccine (like recently released inmates, people in poverty, and people off grid but not in a village), and the crunchy anti-vax on both political sides. We didn't do a very good job of spreading the news that the vaccine is free and available to everyone. 

Since there will be no Big tourism, again, because of the Jones Act, it makes sense to me to at least vaccine the tourists who decided to DIY their trip. They are coming anyway, word on the street is that all rental vehicles for the month of june and july are already booked at surge pricing.

It really depends on what level prison he were to end up in.  Assuming he is successfully prosecuted by the Feds, his sentence would be served at a level commiserate with his crimes.  Financial criminals tend to wind up in minimum security prisons or camps.  I don't think white collar criminals would necessarily trouble him much.  Medium or maximum would be more problematic of course, but I've heard that federal prisons are generally better/safer places than state prisons.

I did my undergrad in Criminology and did a research project once on “sentence marriage”
Ie, consensual relations between inmates during their stays.

And Michele’s really unfortunate comment on what wives provide ... just another fundie misconception that it’s only wives, or only women, that could be the provider.

We did not at all. And someone made a good point on Twitter that some of the vaccine hesitant people may come to really regret their decision six months from now when their job/school requires it and the shot is no longer free but priced like much of healthcare is.

I cant answer for the states but I can answer for Australia

Child molesters baby killers people who rape or hurt the elderly (or other acts that can be deemed low) are not liked by the general prison population, as you can imagine quite a few offenders my have abuse in their background. A lot have children themselves. In Australia people with charges even historical charges are not placed with the general population. A lot of effort is taken to keep them safe. They are generally placed in area together and all movements stop if they have to go somewhere. It's often said that its a quiet gaol that is full of kiddy fiddlers because they are generally the quietest and easiest crims to look after.

So many questions:

Why wasn't he at Big Sandy with the rest of the family? Did they know this was coming today, and choose for everyone else to go anyway? Might they have brought the Ms to get them out of the house? Or did they just suspect arrest was imminent and not want it happen in front of their entire community at Big Sandy?

As many have noted here, other members of the family would most likely be implicated in any serious financial crime (especially Jim Bob). Is it possible they are being arrested in stages? Given how many weapons the Duggars and their friends have on hand, were the feds possibly worried about a Waco or Ruby Ridge type of situation if they stormed the compound while everyone was there?

1) I think this is less likely to be an issue at Club Fed

2) Not local, but the lawyer dude who was convicted of adoption fraud in AZ was resettling some of the Marshallese women he duped in NWA because of the existing Marshallese population. So he had local contacts of some sort to make this happen.  The Duggars appear to have no links to this, but people are sus because Jabbie live next to a Marshallese church. Who knows…

Fun fact about the feds...if you get no bail or extremely high bail they can ship you off to some county jail in east bf nowhere they contract with while the lawyers and the feds hash out your sentencing/plea deal or while you await trial. I know of a few people who sat in the county jail as federal inmates for two years before their plea deals/sentencing actually happened.
