Hit reddit r/conservative to lurk for a little schadenfreude and found this very helpful legal map.

The thing that I find most interesting about this election was that money didn't seem to go as far as it used to. By that, I mean, we used to be able to gage winning from spending. The DNC poured millions into Senatorial campaigns in Maine, Montana, South Carolina, Iowa, Alaska and more. And it wasn't just big donations, there were millions and millions of small dollar donations after RBG's death, but they somehow missed in the messaging of the importance of the Senatorial races.

There are still (hopefully few) people in my state, six years later that think our Junior Senator used to be Mayor of Anchorage, despite the fact that Dan Sullivan the Senator lived in Ohio when Dan Sullivan the Mayor was in charge, and they look nothing like and aren't even within a few decades of age.

People have no idea what the Senate is or what Congress does, because they think it doesn't have any importance in their life. They see the President on TV, but senators don't really get that same level of recognition.

When you think about it, I bet he really didn't envision losing.

I agree. I think he is as much in shock about this as he was that he won in 2016. I also think that he has lived in his little bubble for so long that he truly can't comprehend how many people disapproved of him. He saw the recent rallies and thought it was representative of the entire country.

@HerNameIsBuffy Lol, where would they even go? I'm pretty sure the US is the most conservative / religious 'developed' nation.

I hear the Great Pacific Garbage Patch is nice. :wink-kitty:

I think he thought the Hunter Biden stuff would take off like Hillary’s emails did, and is shocked it didn’t.
He tried to hammer at it in that screaming debate, but the public just seemed meh about it.

Primaries too. Billionaire Bloomberg went bust early on. Sanders fundraised more initially, and exclusively from grassroots donors, and it didn't translate into the avalanche of votes even centrists thought it would.

I like this one.

Per reddit a lot of Trump supporters are posting how they want to leave the country now.

So now they know how a lot of us have felt for the last 4 years.

Oh and to all countries of the world who are not the US, may God be with you if any of them actually emigrate.  If any country is going to get an influx of ragey, angst-fueled Americans they'd be much better off if it were people fleeing Trump as opposed to the simpletons wanting sanctuary now.

They won’t be able to get in here because if Covid. Thank goodness.

True. In general senators don't get the spotlight that presidents do unless they do something super stupid. I am actually a bit surprised Thom Tillis is winning in NC because this is one of the few cases where it seems like people actually picked up on how important senators are. Tillis pissed off all the groups of people. He was snarky and hateful to democrats and he made conservatives mad by supporting bringing a casino into one of the small towns in this state. Churches and a lot of Christians were furious over that because people had been fighting against the casino for like a decade and he pushed for it without even bothering to talk to any of the locals. I was hearing a lot of undercurrents about how he was more corrupt than a democrat because it was pretty obvious someone paid him off to push for this casino. People were also shocked that a senator had the sort of power to get the ball rolling building a casino that beforehand had been pretty dead in the water.

I really think Cal Cunningham would have been able to win if he hadn't fucked it all up by cheating on his wife.

So what is the conservative version of "I'm going to Canada"? Russia? Do they know about the abortion rates or lack of religiosity?

Or will they just all move to some Brazilian backwoods and try to form it into their own Super Patriotic Jesus utopia like libertarians always talk about (and never do) with Wyoming?

They do tend to like Hungary a lot. Who wants to tell them its anti-immigrant policy includes... them?

Trump is the very essence of the the rich kid that was never told “no”, who has turned into an aged bully who is unable to operate within the parameters of our adult world. I don’t know how his supporters can not recognize this fact. Why would any adult support these aberrant traits in their purported leader? Unfortunately, too many of the silver spooned crowd are treated with kid gloves their entire lives; get away with behaviors and decisions that would never be tolerated in the rest of us. This dude has the coping skills of a toddler, and is a powder keg ready to explode. He literally doesn’t know how to operate without deception, deceit, ripping people off and ultimately turfing his debts onto the tax payers. Why would “Republicans,” the law and order and morally superior party support this? It is as crazy and deluded as he is.

Maybe Trump will pull a Jim Jones and create Trumptown?

And many of his voters are the very same people who rail against "participation trophies" and go on complaining about people who are never told "no".

Absolute insanity. Brainwashing, maybe.

And be shat upon because people in other countries can discriminate and have racist tendencies too. Would they want to be the “immigrant” and jump through all the hoops that is required? Learn a new language? Respect different customs? Not seeing it!

From abc news au:

"CNN's political correspondent has just gone on air and said that he has spoken to a senior administration official, and this official has told him, in his words: "It is over", a reference to the election being lost by Donald Trump, but Donald Trump is refusing to accept that.“

He's also told people that he is still planning to start his own conservative news channel and he thinks that he can get Tucker Carlson and Hannity to come on board to start it.  He's really pissed at Murdoch now and this would be his revenge move.  I wonder who is going to tell him that Hannity and Carlson have big contracts and pretty cushy jobs already and probably won't be interested?

And he'd have to do this from another country.  No way will be be immune to prosecution as long as he lives here.

Washington Post has finally removed the grey shading and has predicted that Biden will take AZ, NV, GA and PA.

I suck at maths and understanding the electoral college, but I think this would take Biden to 306?

I was listening to NPR's Morning Edition yesterday. They had an interesting story about the money. It's only a four minute listen.

I'm 16 miles away from the WH. I heard a bunch of whining and the sound of toys being thrown out of a playpen.

From abc news au:

Nancy Pelosi said:

"It's a happy day for our country, because Joe Biden is a unifier. Because he is determined to bring people together. Because he respects all points of view, and as he has said: "I'll run as a Democrat but govern as President for all of the people, for all of the people, whether they voted for me or not," Ms Pelosi said.

"This morning, it is clear, that the Biden-Harris ticket will win the White House.

"His election is historic, propelled by the biggest vote ever in the history of our country, 73.8 million and counting.

"The most votes ever received by any presidential ticket in history.

"President-elect Biden has a strong mandate to lead and he'll have a strong Democratic House with him and many Democrats in the Senate.

"This has been a life or death fight for the fate of our democracy, as he says, "the soul of our country".

"We did not win every battle in the House but we did win the war.
