And that's a new twist on the "can't be a x (racist/homophobe/anti-religious group etc) because I have a friend who is y" game.  I would think if the children's father or fathers sought custody this little video and her newspaper statements will be plaintiff's exhibits 1 and 2.

This is really fucked up.

Quote

It was before 9 a.m. Monday on the edge of Lubbock, Tex., when a man, armed with a loaded pistol, allegedly barreled down the highway in hot pursuit of Texas National Guard members, furious about the imagined cargo.

The soldiers were transporting coronavirus vaccine to a town 80 miles away, authorities said. But Larry Harris, a 66-year-old Arizona man, later told police he thought the three unmarked white vans were involved in the kidnapping of a woman and child.

Harris tried to run the vans off the road, then swerved into oncoming traffic to stop them before ordering 11 soldiers out at gunpoint, culminating in a bizarre moment that left them shaken on the side of a small-town highway road, said Idalou Police Chief Eric C. Williams.

“Some were so young, I thought they may have been part of an ROTC detachment,” Williams told The Washington Post.

Harris was arrested soon after police arrived and charged with several offenses, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and an obscure law that makes it a crime to interfere with Texas military forces, Williams said. The soldiers were not harmed in the incident.

I don’t buy his excuse that he was trying to save kidnap victims. It would not surprise me that he knew it was a vaccine convoy and he wanted to ruin the vaccines.

I think it's less common than the "friend" thing but definitely not new. I know a couple guys who pull the "I can't be racist, I slept with a black woman once!" thing. It's disgusting.

Seriously if they start having to arm vaccine convoys there is something seriously wrong.

There were cases of community transmission in Queensland last week (Australian cases at present are all in people arriving from overseas who are in hotel quarantine, so any community transmission is the result of a breach and sets off alarms). Anyway, one person who was unknowingly infected and infectious travelled to Byron Bay for a hens night (and unfortunately caused the late cancellation of the blues festival which was to take place over Easter). Byron Bay has a high number of alternative lifestyle adherents, and unsurprisingly also a high rate of anti-vaxxers. Some idiots put up this poster encouraging people to not get tested, to go out and see friends and to not wear masks.

Spoiler

So that's what the world's been doing wrong, it's fear and not enough vitamins causing covid deaths! /sarcasm

What is bleakly amusing to me is that one of the reasons they (and large parts of Australia) haven't really been impacted by covid is because of the lock downs, and mask wearing and quarantines etc. and the reason they have been able to go about their normal life is because other people have been significantly impacted and have changed their behaviour. What a bunch of entitled effing arseholes.

(Quick note here - it's not everyone in the Northern Rivers shire by any means, and the Northern Rivers Health Network have been pushing back against anti-vaxxers bullshit and medical misinformation for years. But when the Northern Rivers Health Network President is quoted as saying "it's like any community - 20% are against it", well the numbers are significantly lower in Melbourne is all I can say. Like well under 1 in 100.)

Fool. Money. Parted.

Quote

Kelly Sills of Baton Rouge, Louisiana was attempting to eat dinner with his family at the popular Boathouse restaurant in Disney Springs.  Police approached him outside of the restaurant and asked him to return to the temperature screening tent to have his temperature checked, as is Disney policy. Sills refused and then also refused to leave the property.

While being escorted away, Sills asked the police if he could go and have his temperature checked.  When they informed him that he would have it checked in jail, he brought up the apparent cost of his trip to The Most Magical Place on Earth.

As reported by the Orlando Sentinel, Sills pleaded with the police:

“I paid $15,000. You can’t trespass me for paying $15,000,” said Sills, a guest at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, after he was led away. He soon began cooperating with the sheriff’s deputies. “If I take $15,000 from you, I can’t kick you out… Bring me to jail for $15,000 grand, I’m fine… In front of my kids, too, at Disney World.”

Over the weekend, the school board of the teeny district we live in voted unanimously to make masks voluntary for both teachers and students.

Yesterday, they sent out a notice that an elementary school student had tested positive for Covid.

The stupid, it burns.  Curse you Greg Abbott.

White Minnesota anti-masker got violent but didn't get shot or tased.

Quote

As WCCO reported, suspect Luke Alvine Oeltjenbruns attacked an employee at a Menards home improvement store with a piece of lumber because he was asked to wear a mask. Moments later, when officers discovered him in a nearby Walmart parking lot, he attempted to flee, but the “slow-speed chase” eventually came to a dead end near the Hutchinson Mall.

Oeltjenbruns rammed two cop cars before dragging the officer who walked toward his vehicle and hitting him on the head with a hammer. He was neither shot or tased during the police encounter.

The treatment of the 61-year-old fared in comparison to the fatal shooting of 20-year-old Wright, who was pulled over for an expired license plate and the air fresheners in his car. In response to officers’ attempt to arrest him on outstanding warrants, he entered his car and was shot by former cop Kim Potter, who later said she intended to use her Taser.

“We live in a country where angry old white men and young white men carrying weapons and using them are safe - while young, unarmed black people who get pulled over with an air freshener hanging from their rearview mirror are shot and killed,” wrote reporter Brian J. Karem.

Lake Travis ISD School Board candidate given assault citation after mask confrontation at store

Quote

AUSTIN, Texas — Lake Travis ISD School Board candidate Kara Bell was given an assault citation last week after a confrontation with a store employee at Nordstrom Rack located on Brodie Lane.

According to video and a police report obtained by KVUE from the Sunset Valley Police Department, Nordstrom Rack employees called police when Bell refused to put on a mask upon entry of the store.

According to the report and an employee in the video, Bell shoved an employee before forcing her way into a dressing room where she proceeded to call the Nordstrom Rack corporate office.

When police arrived at the store, the employee was standing outside and you can hear her in the video say, "She kept pushing and pushing so I put my arm out to block her from my entrance and then she shoved me!"

Meanwhile, police got a statement from two witnesses who explained the confrontation Bell had with the store employee. Bell was then escorted outside, where police say they tried to ask for her ID.

In the video you can hear her response in part, "I am a woman of God."

According to the report, she took a step toward the officer. Two officers then detained her on the ground to put her in handcuffs while she resisted and yelled out to other people in the area.

Bell was given an assault citation, which is a Class C misdemeanor punishable by a fine of up to $500.

KVUE reached out to Bell for a comment but has not heard back yet.

We went grocery shopping yesterday.  Everyone was masked except for one man there with his family.  His family was masked, but he had one of those looks like, I dare you to tell me to mask up.  I felt bad for his wife.  At this store, they make an announcement to mask up over the loudspeaker system, and I’ve witnessed them refusing to check out unmasked people in line.  We didn’t stay to watch any potential drama, but I feel sorry for frontline workers who still have to deal with these sorts of belligerent people.  Sigh.

Kara Bell presents a problem to late-night comedy writers and actors - how do you parody someone who is already a living stereotype?

An Alaska lawmaker now has to take the long way to work because of her anti-mask stupidity.

Quote

JUNEAU — Alaska Airlines said Saturday that it banned state Sen. Lora Reinbold, R-Eagle River, from its flights for continuing to refuse to follow mask-wearing requirements for travelers.

“We have notified Senator Lora Reinbold that she is not permitted to fly with us for her continued refusal to comply with employee instruction regarding the current mask policy,” spokesman Tim Thompson said by email.

The ban had cast uncertainty on how Reinbold might rejoin the Alaska Senate when legislative work resumes Monday. No other airline has regularly scheduled direct flights between Anchorage and Juneau.

But it appeared as though Reinbold embraced an alternate travel solution: On Sunday, she posted to her Facebook page describing “a long unexpected trip to Juneau by road/ferry system.” To reach a port serviced by a ferry to Juneau on Sunday, she would’ve had to drive hundreds of miles from Eagle River to either Skagway or Haines, which also would require going through part of Canada.

According to Google that's about a 20 hour drive to get to work for her now as opposed to a little under two hours via flight.  Well she's made her anti-mask bed so it's time to hop in the car and lie in it lady.

Another idiot in Judge Jeffrey Middleton's zoom court.

Quote

Michigan judge Jeffrey Middleton’s virtual courtroom is getting quite the reputation — it seems to be a magnet for boneheaded defendants making epic blunders over Zoom.

The latest virtual snafu happened when a defendant logged into an arraignment hearing with an unfortunate moniker — Buttfucker 3000. And, yeah, Judge Middleton was NOT pleased:

“Your name’s not Buttfucker 3000, you yo-ho, logging in to my court with that as your screenname.” said the judge, later adding, “What kind of idiot logs into court like that?”

The defendant, Nathaniel Saxton, was momentarily kicked out of the virtual courtroom. When he returned he apologized and explained that his sister set up the account, using that screen name as an inside joke.

He almost got a contempt charge for that too.

Here's the video of that exchange.

Queensland hairdresser bans vaccinated clients due to the risk of side effects.

Honestly I am torn between laughing and headdesking at this.

""We are not your hairdresser if you have the COVID vax," the post said.

"We have to take into consideration the 1000s of reported side effects this shot has shown so far."

"Such as - unusual signs and symptoms within the menstrual cycle, such as heavy bleeding, flooding, clotting and sporting [sic] at times in the cycle when it's not normal to do so, seizures, blood clotting, bruising within the legs and so on.""

On the positive side, I know where not to go in Queensland, and with any luck so do everyone else.

She needs to go to prison for the rest of her life and then some.

Quote

A Tennessee motorist who allegedly nearly hit multiple workers at a COVID-19 vaccination station told police that she drove through the site to protest distribution of the vaccine, according to an arrest report.

Police Monday arrested Virginia Brown, 36, on seven felony reckless endangerment charges in connection with an incident in the parking lot of a mall about 15 miles from her home in Greenback, a city outside Knoxville.

Brown, pictured above, is locked up in lieu of $21,000 bond in advance of a June 7 court hearing.

Investigators charge that Brown, driving an SUV, sped through a series of cones and a tent set up outside the Foothills Mall. Brown allegedly came close to striking seven workers manning the vaccine site, and several victims “stated that they thought the driver was going to kill them,” according to a Blount County Sheriff’s Office report.

Here in Iowa #CovidKim probably would have found some bullshit reason to pardon her and give her a high paying government job.

I walk by this store almost every visit to Nashville.  As a brief update, I’ve read there are protesters outside (saw photo of “No Nazis in Nashville” banner), and at least a couple of vendors have said they will pull their wares (I.e., Stetson hats).  I’ll be giving them my best glare next time I pass by.  ?

Yeah Stetson has already decided to not do further business with this pile of feces

Quote

Stetson has said it will stop selling its products through a hat store in Nashville, Tennessee which advertised anti-vaccination patches in the style of a Star of David, the badge which Jewish people were made to wear by the Nazis.

“We take this matter seriously and are investigating in order to take the necessary and appropriate next steps. Along with our distribution partners, Stetson condemns antisemitism and discrimination of any kind.

“As a result of the offensive content and opinions shared by hatWRKS in Nashville, Stetson and our distribution partners will cease the sale of all Stetson products [through the store].”

Of course she had a bullshit apology all ready to go about how she didn't mean to be insensitive.   Fuck her apology.  I hope she has to close down.

I liked Newser's take on this....
