Pickles and Hairspray

There seems to be more dissent than usual on Pickles' most recent photo offering of pregnant Jessa, many calling her out on body shaming a pregnant woman.

Maybe she just hasn't got around to deleting the dissenters yet...

I agree. I read that thread and was pleasantly surprised to see many people standing up to her. She seemed really confused as to why people thought her post was inappropriate. I think she is grasping at straws to have something to post now that the show is cancelled.

I'm sure a lot of people will be deleted by end of day and only the picklehumpers shall remain.

I can *kind of* see her point re: the modesty/hypocrisy but equally, I'm quite surprised as well to see differing opinions over there for a change.

And regardless of the hypocrisy, yay for a Duggar proudly showing off their body.

I agree--body shaming of any kind is not acceptable.

I think that Pickles is right when she observes that Jessa's wardrobe is becoming less and less "modest". Less modest for the fundie crowd---perfectly modest for mainstream people.

I didn't see any nipples either so I do not know what Pickles was on about for that.

Im not sure if the drinking age should be lowered but maybe raising the minimum age 21 like it used to be. Maybe 18-20 could be a 'junior' adult you can vote sign documents etc but not drink, own a gun, or enlist until 21.It would solve the whole issue of being allowed to get your head blown off and can't drink.

in ermany guns shot guns inprticular are banned from sale as they are neither for sports nor hunting.. you can get guns only i specialist shops. and you need a license

I thought shot guns were used for hunting birds???

Do you mean pistols? Or maybe "sawed-off" shot guns?

I hope she realises how horrible she sounds.

Standards evolve. Different seasons. *gag* new headship.

Lots of non fundie reasons too. I've noticed most of the girls clothing styles change after they're married. Maybe because they get to chose new clothes that fit. Or are allowed to pick what they like.

I read her post and didn't have an issue with it. She even said she wasn't body shaming. What she was doing was pointing out the hypocrisy of all their ridiculous modesty rules, and how they act superior over being so modest, and yet, for some reason, the younger pregnant Duggars have had no issue wearing very snug fitting clothing when pregnant. In general, that is the fashion these days with maternity clothes, compared to 20 years ago, but for a Duggar it looks odd to see them wearing loose fitting nearly fully covered outfits, to suddenly wearing skintight clothes that show off their pregnant figures.

For people on the thread who apparently have reading comprehension issues, they mistook her post for body shaming, when in fact her post was more about their hypocrisy.

I didn't see the referenced nips either, but I did think the shirt looked too tight. Not from a modesty point of view but just from a comfort point of view. For me, when I was pregnant, I didn't want to wear anything snug. It just didn't feel good.

I didn't think she was body shaming either, but many posters over there were accusing her of it. I think that's what struck me more than the actual post, the negative reactions to it (which are usually quashed fairly swiftly). There even seemed to be somewhat of a dialogue going on, which was refreshing.

I know it's been said elsewhere, but their style (as a family) has changed since the early days. Haven't seen a frumper in a while!

ETA I said earlier I can *kind of* see the point about the hypocrisy - obviously the Duggars would be strong contenders in the hypocrite award category, I just didn't see what was so immodest about Blessa's outfit to begin with (I also didn't see the referenced nips). It's slightly tighter than usual, but still covers her well. But then, that could just be me and my style.

Realised I wasn't too clear having re-read my post a few hours later

If anything is hypocritical with pickles is that she'll go on and on about right wing fear mongering and then immediately spread anti right wind fear mongering.

But has Jessa herself ever really talked about modesty or modest clothing once she was out of the family house? I wonder if people are unfairly judging her for her upbringing. She was literally 'trained' to be uncomfortable with other people's clothing choices, if she's starting to evolve beyond that I don't think we should necessarily get on her case for her own clothing choices just because her family are still Nikeing.

Has anyone else seen the atheist-hating replies Pickles is posting on her Boy Scouts post? Basically, discrimination against gays is wvil, but discrimination against atheists is not a problem and a-ok!

I just went back to find the link, and it's mysteriously disappeared. Ughhhh. I just wish fj had a Facebook page, then I wouldn't have to follow her at all :)

FJ does have a facebook page: facebook.com/freejinger You can find links to all our various accounts in the lower right portal or on the Contact Free Jinger page: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=15379

She asked people to link her something, then said "no Free Jinger" links. lol

I'm still looking for this on her page, but in the meantime I saw a post warning against someone she doesn't like who will steal your pictures and then mock you. Pot, meet kettle. Actually, I don't look at her page much, so I don't know if the mocking label fits, but she steals the shit out of Duggar pictures, and has done for years.

But that's ok! She's serving a higher calling for the greater good. Or something.

You have a good point.

As I said somewhere else--she is obviously embracing her sexuality and enjoying her beauty and that is a good thing.

i think jill was also immodest at times during her pregnancy but is quite back to modesty standards again.

whereas Jessa pouts for the camera and does her sultry lip and shows us her outie

JIll stood there - in bigger outfits

then hideous one of 35 weeks 1 day sticks out - that was a dress over a tshirt and skirt

I wonder what she was thinking :D

I guess it's okay to be immodest when you are showing off God's handiwork.

I used to be fine with Pickles but her popularity has gotten weirdly annoying... anytime I comment on something there anymore I have three to five replies basically chastising me for not being harsh enough. And I'm not even remotely apologetic for the Duggars, so it surprises me every time. :? It's like if you aren't just blindly echoing what Pickles herself has just said, they take it as a criticism or something.

I got banned by Pickles. Apparently she took offense when I pointed out that a couple she was soliciting $ for were involved in the Gothard/IBF cult. They were trying to bring a disabled child from Guatemala or somewhere like that for adoption, a laudable act. However, she didn't disclose the Gothard connection, nor that the couple had already brought in 5 or 6 other children in order to fulfill the quiverfull commandment. All this was pointed out by another poster. When I said it was disingenuous of her to omit this information, BAM, I was gone. She had already deleted another of my posts after I tried to explain that not all Baptists, of which I am one, are like the Duggars. Some of us wear pants, shorts, even regular swimsuits (!), vote Democratic, drink adult beverages, swear when appropriate, date, and engage in all kinds of Duggar-prohibited activities, yet we still attend church, sing in the choir on Sundays, read the Bible and pray! She just called me another divisive fundamentalist and deleted my comment, then banned me. Her loss!

Oh, and the request for $$ for the fundie couple? She deleted that a few hours later!

Young "peeps" can be "odd" too; older people don't have the market cornered.

I suppose we don't know the Douche Pickle is a hunter, if he is then I understand. But on the face of things, he's a twice arrested man with DWIs, hasn't learned his lesson, and has a bad temper. So basically someone I can't see wanting to get married to.

He has a problem with alcohol, (trust me, if he has 2 DUIs that just means he has more that he didn't get picked up for), a bad temper and a bunch of guns. Yeah, yes a real Prince Charming all right! And just the kind of person that needs to have guns. . .
