Maxwells conference fall 2011

Really? :o I would think it would be Steve who was the gatekeeper of the passwords.

Nell

Nope, he made a big point of telling us how Teri has all his passwords and that keeps him accountable or something. Demgirl might remember the exact words, but Teri controls it.

Teri's on pornwatch but Steve is the family filter of what the family gets to see. He is the only one now receiving blog comments and he has received enough from FJers to know that he is being discussed out here.

I am still very suspicious that the ONLY conference that has now been written up for the blog in recent times is the one that Clibbyjo and Demgirl infiltrated. He is onto us for sure.

I appreciate QM's insider info here, but I doubt that the Maxters will be impressed if/when they discover her indiscretions...

Well that tells me that Steve might just be tempted to look at porn. Why else have your wife be the password keeper.

Exactly. He doesn't trust himself with his internet because if he had them he would go on a massive porn bender. That's pretty much what we all figure.

It's the same with the Duggars. Shelly & Jana are the only one's with "the passwords". Must be a "fundie thing".... :?

That's because big strong manly men who are called to lead churches and families are too weak to resist their own carnal urges. The mental gymnastics required to understand this make my head hurt.

On the new Maxwell post- entitled St. Louis- they have up a bunch of pictures of their latest conference. About 3/4 of the way down there is this picture of a family that has to be one of the scariest fundie family pictures I've ever seen. Does anyone know who they are or if they have a blog? (Oh, please let them have a blog!) The caption under the picture just reads "A family who came from Illinois." I want to rescue those kids!

Omigoddes I saw that and was thinking the same thing. Those folks looked like frickin' zombies. I wondered how the hell these people post the photos of others without using their names. Do they get releases signed?

I'm going to say probably not, but if you're posing for a picture that's being taken by a Maxwell, then you have to have some inkling that they might put it on their website. I'm sure for a lot of these people, having their picture featured on the Maxwell blog would be one of the greatest moments of their lives.

In the picture of the Illinois family, it only looks like the older girls are wearing head coverings, but some of them still look really young. I thought maybe it was a puberty thing and that's when they started donning it, but there's no way that the girl on the far right has started puberty.

Anyone got any ideas?

The mother looks especially crazy. She has crazy eyes, and the father reminds me of Steve. I give this family credit for not putting on the pretense of being happy. They look as miserable on the outside as the Maxwells feel on the inside.

The mom totally has the crazy eyes! I'm guessing most women would have them if they had birthed nine kids in a relatively short period of time. (the oldest girl couldn't be more than 14 or 15, unless she's just extremely underdeveloped)

Oh my Steve, i'm going to have to get to a computer (not my phone) so I can blow up the plaque picture and find Jinger Freeh's signature! (See the belly of the beast post)

What is WITH the dressing alike? I used to dress like my mom on occasion, when I was four. My cousin and I are a year apart, so we often dressed alike for our first few years. But entire families dressed with exactly the same skirt and top (and in some cases, headcoverings, apparently)...where did that idea occur to them? It looked like every family in that post, including multiple Maxwell outfits were matching, and I've seen the Duggars and Bates do this too, in times past.

Its like they buy up the most boring yardage on sale at Jo Ann Fabrics. No personal identity is permitted. Its so sad.

I figure the more conservative fundie families dress alike out of convienence. They don't want to dress like what "the world" dresses or don't like the styles available so they make their own clothes. However, when mom and your sisters are the only people making your clothes, they have to mass produce the same styles in order to keep up with demand. The Maxwells recently changed their wardrobe and now piece their outfits together by buying conservative modernwear. I don't know how much is a change of mind (hey! I can dress just as conservatively with what is available at walmart as I can make at home!), and how much is practical----hard to fit a sewing room in Uriah!

The little boy standing next to his father worries me the most. Except for the clothes, he looks like one of the kids in the sponsor a child ads. He looks like he's just given up.

I think he's the one most likely to be a serial killer.

Speaking of headcovering... does anyone know the Maxwell's opinion/take on it? It seems like something they'd do but I've never seen a picture of any of the women wearing a cover.

I am attempting to do that right now! (and failing miserably so far...)

EDIT: Is this is? Phyllis Styne can you confirm or deny?

Edit again: Am I pathetic for doing this? Probably

To be fair a lot of girls start their periods before there is any outward sign of change and that might be the stage at which they decide to start covering, as that's traditionally considered the start of puberty/adulthood.
