Why do they not call it Thanksgiving! Last year in DC, Anna & JB both referred to it as a "holiday meal." This year it was a "fall festival  meal." Do you suppose that's a Gothard-ism?

Sorry if this was already discussed...but I watched the last 15 minutes or so of last night's show. Did anyone ever call the baby by his name?  I never heard anyone call him "Spurgeon" in the time I watched the show.

Cord cutter here--- were the minor children and JB/M featured in the show at all or did it just focus on the kidults?

The minor children (most notably Hannah) and Jimchelle were both on the show in varying degrees. Jimchelle were only really at the end when they attended the holiday meal. Most of the younger kids were in passing, except Hannah who is clearly being recruited as a J'slave.

I don't know, but fall festival meal sounds decidedly pagan to me! :martian-disgust:

I'm sad because AT&T now owns directv, which is going to make it impossible for me to cancel my accounts.  Plus, both AT&T and Verizon advertised... so that means I have to keep one of them for my cell.  Both AT&T and Directv will get nastygrams from me tomorrow.  As far as I know thats the only company I do business with.

Is Directv your provider?  A percentage of ad time is dedicated to the cable/satellite providers.  It's in the contracts.  I've always felt it was redundant to see commercials for a provider I already have.  So there's a very good chance AT&T/Directv didn't pay for those spots.

Some things that came to my mind:

1. Jinger reminds Joy that there are cooking videos online. They are aware of resources for learning how, so it bothers me that they say they can't cook. I think it's more like they won't.

2. Is Ben popping Benadryls like candy? What is up with that boy?

3. I do wonder if we can attribute Jessa's more relaxed demeanor to a lack of Jill's presence?

4. Why does Anna have to explain The Josh situation YET AGAIN?

5. Holy eyeliner, Batman. All the girls are sporting some thick eyeliner.

6. Jill kind of talks to Izzy like how I talked to my dog when it was a puppy.

7. The fact that I saw Glade air freshener on Jill & Derrick's toilet means they must have realized that their shit does not smell like roses.

I wonder if part of Ben's deal is that he is "upset" that he doesn't get as much attention as he did before from jessa.  Spurge is clearly her focus now, and she seems really into him.  Ben used to be the one to get all of her attention and the one who her focus was on.

Wouldn't be surprised.  She married a man-child, and it's very possible that now he's acting the way many children act when a new baby joins the family.

I have read this entire thread and I think I'm done.

I've hit my Duggar limit of STUPID-ARSED, FAKE, SELF-PROMOTING WANK!!!!

Yup, I'm definitely gone. See y'all in Quiver Full of Snark.

Josh and Anna will renew their vows.  They will travel together, speaking about jesus, love and redemption.  We'll watch them hunt for their new home, go to counseling together (where Anna will cry), Josh may even get a job at a local church as a counselor for misguided husbands.  His role will be master, savior, redeemer... TLC will write a whole story about how you can come from the very bottom to the very top, complete with fake interventions where all the Duggars sit in a circle and discuss how much Josh hurt them.

...until he is caught again cheating on his wife and doing porn.

Rewind.

Repeat.

Can I puke now?

I think, for the J'Slaves still trapped at home, the not cooking thing is probably a combination of not having time to cook because they are too busy doing the cleaning, laundry and childcare for their lazy parents and perhaps a little bit of rebellion (and if that's the case, I applaud them for it) - perhaps they don't think they should have to put a great deal of effort into learning how to cook when they're already doing someone else's job for them.

As for why Jessa doesn't learn how to cook now. I don't know, it could be a lack of interest, or it could be she learned from the masters of laziness (her parents) on shirking the responsibilities of being an adult. If they weren't living in this crazy partriarchal cult, I would say perhaps Jessa resents being expected to do the cooking when Ben has no job and could pitch in with the cooking - but they seem to think it's a crazy idea that a man could actually cook or clean or do the laundry, so she might not even consider that an option (or maybe she just realizes that he's probably not even coherent enough to even turn on the oven.)

I really like Dillon Kings Insider Infos. Not that it is a very likable move from him, but I still value his info although out of three Statements, just one is by him.

http://www.intouchweekly.com/posts/dillon-king-josh-duggar-rehab-94045

Here are the 3 quotes:

“It’s not ever going to be the same,” Dillon explains. “It’s not ever going to be what it was.”

In fact, In Touch has learned that some family members fear he’s still a danger. “There are people in the extended family who definitely won’t bring their children near Josh,” a Duggar family member reveals. “Who would want their kids around him after all he’s done?”

“While the Duggars have publicly claimed to support Josh, some in the family are not that overjoyed by his return,” says a source close to the Family.

I am just glad about any Publicity on the Duggars that is not all about their forgiveness and moving on shit and how to cook dinner.

I can believe that some previously friendly fundie lite or fundie families might not let their kids around Josh. They may support Josh as a member of the fundegelical tribe and because they feel it's their Christian duty, but aren't going to take any risks on their own children. I can also see some of Josh's siblings still being angry and resentful in private, but showing a united front for the sake of "the brand." It makes you wonder what really goes on behind closed doors at the TTH. Do they ever just "get real" with each other or is it all keeping sweet 24/7? In particular, I wonder what JD might have said to Josh, since I sense some unresolved angry from him about having to compensate for Josh's misdeeds.

I don't generally snark on Jill/Derrick/Izzy, but one scene jumped put at me. Jill had Izzy on her lap at the kitchen table and Izzy did something (no clue what it was) and Jill responded with "Good boy" and fed him a treat. I swear I thought she was training a dog.

Yes, they did. And they slid the camera over to the book w/ the name on it. But I recall that it was early on, IIRC.

So, it actually doesn't bother me at all that Jessa doesn't really cook. Lots of other things bother me about Jessa, but not that. It seems to me, that despite being taught her entire life that her duty is to serve her husband by cooking/cleaning/having babies, the fact that she doesn't do the cooking is her letting herself off the hook of this "godly woman" image in a way. I'm not saying that she's doing it on purpose or anything, but it's kind of refreshing to see a Duggar girl say, "I don't like doing this, I'm not good at it, and I'm not going to fall over myself to do it anyway."

That being said, I think if she's not cooking/homemaking, she should probably find some other way to be a productive citizen.

She was saying "say eat" and then he did something, touched his stomach area? Or maybe he even said "eat" and I didn't hear it...but then yes, she gave him a bit of food. Just like training a dog...  :my_confused:

I didn't see this, but is it possible she was teaching him the sign for eat? When he did it, she gave him something to eat to reinforce the sign with the action. Just wondering, and as I say, I didn't see it.

Jessa and the others called him Spurgeon multiple times. Guess it isn't Quincy anymore for that kid.

Did anyone find it disturbing when Jana was saying how Anna is a strong person for sticking by Josh and deciding to face her fears ? To the Duggars, if Anna took the M'kids and left she would be less of a wife/woman. Being a single mother is tough as hell and you need to be a strong person to do it alone. We all knew that the Duggars would have shamed Anna if she chose that path, but Jana's comment confirmed their potential shaming. Even if Anna wants to leave Pillsbury Doughboy, the fear of failing her wife duties in the eyes of God/ her in-laws prevents that.

Jessa sure has that 'I'm the only woman in the world who's ever raised a baby' act down. She's almost as smug as Josh. Bin seems high 24/7.

Not only that, but (at least from the recaps) it doesn't seem like she realizes that most of the rest of us are doing this while working full-time jobs. Most people have a least a spouse that works and plenty of us also work too. It drives me absolutely batty to hear them say anything is difficult about parenthood when they are an unemployed couple who BOTH have nothing better to do than to take care of one child. (Not to mention, they have a bevy of sister moms at their beck and call too.) They are just so out of touch with the reality of most people on this planet.

Parenting the Duggar way just seems so freaking relaxing to me.
