Children's Mercy is often where we hang out too! Oldest boom has ASD.

I moved to KC after college, MSU and UCM, and am still getting the hang of it. Don't tell my husband but, I do like it here.

Except Arthur Bryant's sauce. That stuff is dreadful.

I agree with you there. We are big fans of Joe's KC (used to be Oklahoma Joe's). And if you go to the original restaurant, it is great fun,(though you may have to stand in line, if you go at rush time.)

Same here... I craved salami rolled around pepperoncini peppers constantly while I was pregnant with LF, she seems... relatively normal

ETA that she absolutely hates salami. Wrinkles her nose and gags if anyone eats it around her....

She is not normal.

Normal people know salami is delicious.

Kidding, sort of! ;)

What is lunchmeat? "Charcuterie"?

The European pregnant women I know are not supposed to eat raw cheese/raw meat/salad/seafood and probably other stuff. A glass of wine very occasionally is ok.

There's a listeria risk with a lot of things, it seems. I remember when I was pregnant, I think some fruit or something was recalled.

And I just saw this today - http://www.newsweek.com/whole-foods-lis ... ese-380993

When I was pregnant with my first, we had a big problem with listeria in luncheon meat here in Canada. It was hard to find any luncheon meat on the shelf, and what was there, nobody was buying. It took months for the meat processing plants to effectively clean/sanitize to the point that none of the bacteria could be detected with random tests. Obviously, I didn't eat any luncheon meat during that pregnancy. Five years later, while pregnant with my second, I ate all the luncheon meat I wanted. I never heated any of it, cause the thought of warm luncheon meat makes me gag. If there would have been more recalls due to listeria, then obviously I wouldn't have eaten it.

Pregnancy is just like everything else....you weigh the risks of your actions, and decide if you're comfortable with the possible outcomes. There is a difference between something that in excess may cause issues (caffeine for example) and something that you know will cause issues (illegal drugs for example). In the end, it boils down to what you are personally comfortable giving up, or taking on the risks of. That being said, no expecting mother should have to listen to the opinions of others once they have made their informed decision. It's amazing how everyone feels they have the right to criticize everything an expectant mother does. Between that, comments on bump size, and random strangers touching your belly, pregnancy can be a bit suffocating!!

Wow! Seeing Jessa and Jinjer at Target had to have been BEYOND SURREAL! I'm kind of jealous! I would have been very sneaky and watched their every move! I'm surprised you didn't see if they paid with grift cards! HA! That's awesome!

I'm equally terrified and super excited for pregnancy! As someone recovering from anorexia I can see myself really obsessing over making sure I have all of the nutrients my baby needs each day, but I'm also afraid that somehow my body won't be able to carry a child... I long to be a mother though.

Regarding the pot during pregnancy, I've never been pregnant and I don't imagine myself using while pregnant but that's more because I'm a control freak when it comes to my body and I don't like to be altered. But I will say that it's likely more people than you think use it while pregnant and just don't talk about it. I personally know a few women who used occasionally during their pregnancies and all of their children are great so far!

Jessa posted a picture on her instagram today with two complete baby outfits, one for a boy and one for a girl. She said that Jinger picked them out and asked which one we thought they would be using. I was never one to speculate twins for her, but now I'm not so sure. If they're as frugal as they claim to be then why would they waste money by buying an outfit that they won't use? Not to mention the outfits look like they were picked out to correlate with each other. They don't look like newborn sized outfits, so maybe they were thinking ahead for Easter? Surely they wouldn't have been able to keep twins a secret for this long. I mean she isn't THAT big right?

Bryant's sauce only works with Bryant's meat. Don't know why (the smoke?), but that just seems how it is. I loved it with their meat. We haven't been to Bryant's in a couple of years because it really deteriorated and actually got shut down for a while by the health department.

If you want to avoid standing in line at Joe's, just call ahead and go to the pick-up window and take it with you; it's better than standing in line in blistering heat/freezing temps. When they started the pick-up window we adopted it quickly. Standing in line if you don't have to is bullshit. Bullshit, I say! :D

Those outfits look like they could fit a 6-12 month old. There's no shortage of baby/toddler clothes in their world, it's probably old stuff that Jessa posted to troll people with the twin thing.

I was anorexic for 4 years. Two years after my recovery, I got pregnant on my first cycle off of the pill. I was also still 5 pounds underweight at that point. Just an anecdote, but it's definitely possible.

There are lots of anecdotes about people with anorexia having kids. I used to be on a pro ana site (yes, I know, horrible) and there were quite a few mothers on there. Interestingly most of the pro ana people were encouraging others to "give up ana" while pregnant and then go back to it later. . .

Ok, switching gears a bit. I was thinking about the Great Dilly Dally 2015 Extravaganza and have decided to post this as a reminder to those who took part, and as a warning to newer members of what may be in store for the baby Seeweed watch. There were so many hilarious posts, but this recap, courtesy of ViolaSebastian, has always fondly resided in my memory. I hope you all enjoy...

TLDR: False alarms, don't use Swheat Step to soak up plutonium, someone's stripper name is Spunky Beaver, there's chocolate with green filling in Germany, Hershey's tastes like vomit, Joseph Duggar has a porn star 'stache, a discussion of why someone's cat's crap smells bad, Katie Holmes wore a tacky outfit when she was pregnant with Suri, how to get super poofy bangs, a lot of us don't wear heels because we've busted ourselves at one time or another, tons of Duggar photos posted by nst, most of us like peanut butter, Maple leaf's fans are deranged, Brown chicken Brown cow, UK is in the final four, a cat fight over how to hang the toilet paper roll, some of us (who shall remain nameless) are Michigan State fans, back and forth about midwives over OBGYNS and vice versa, spicy poops after having Mexican food, Cracker Barrel is a place to enjoy fatty fried foods, chicken fried steak is steak fried like chicken, and JILL STILL HASN'T HAD THIS DANG KID! :mouse-shock:

How great is FJ??

We have done that a couple of times, when we've had groups of people over to our house (we live close). But, my hubby and kids love standing in line there, it's a great place for people watching!!

You guys are making me scared for ever getting pregnant sometime in the distant future!!! No lunch meat?? I never heard of that. I eat lunch meat almost daily. Sushi?? My fave! I have heard that some alcohol in moderation is ok, and so I will probably be that pregnant lady drinking a glass of wine whenever the feeling hits.

If you microwave the lunch meat for 30 seconds or something it will kill any possible listeria and you can eat all the lunch meat you want. Just listen to your doctors advice and be sensible. You can't deny yourself everything you love for 9 months, a coffee every morning, or a bit of wine, or a turkey sandwich will most likely be fine! Just don't finish the entire pot, bottle or bag of turkey!

And I looooooove wine, but while I was pregnant I had NO taste for it at all. I missed deli meat WAY more than wine, which I never saw coming lol.

She doesn't look like she's carrying twins AT ALL to me. My twin mom friends who went to 36-38 weeks measured like 50+ weeks pregnant. I carried to 29 weeks with two 2lb babies and measured almost 40 weeks.

I assume if they bought a boy and a girl outfit they assume they'll eventually have one of each anyway. And as for frugal, looks like they got them at Once Upon a Child, so it's used and super duper cheap (I love OUAC!!!)

First of all, congratulations freesarah88! I've had no cycle in 8 years so we'll see! As for the pro ana site, that's not surprising but it's very troubling! Why would you INTEND to return to such behaviors when you are a primary caregiver and example for your child? Ugh. Anyway, my post wasn't intended to take this to a drift on eating disorders so my apologies if anyone is annoyed.

Yes sorry for the drift.

The thing about pro ana sites is they don't really see it as a total negative. They described ana as their best friend, the one who was always there for them, the one who helped them towards their goals. Its actually why the site ended up prompting me to get help. Its like they know its not healthy, but think on some level that it is health to a point. Looking back they were fascinating people to know.

When I was pregnant w/my 1st in 1970, I asked the OB if I could have some blackberry wine at bedtime b/c I couldn't sleep. He said "sure, it's better than pills." Had a glass every night after the morning sickness passed & slept like a log.

I have this image of Jessa as a velociraptor jealously guarding her eggs and deceiving people before feasting on their flesh.
