I've been meaning to tell you that I love your name!

I referenced a Kanye song while snarking on the Ben/Blessa honeymoon. I was pretty proud of myself for coming up with it, tbh.

@faithandreason, I think you're right...she did sort of walk back the whole "rape" claim. Josh's lawyers will probably first try to get this thrown out on that basis. Plus she waited a long time to sue, and used the event to gain attention and publicity for herself (not saying it's right, but lawyers will probably argue that, right?).

No way JimBob lets this woman rake his family over the coals in a public trial. If it doesn't get tossed, it will settle out of court.

Poor Anna and M kids...

I have no doubt that the incident occurred exactly as she alleges .  I do NOT believe that she was as traumatized as she says, mainly because she did it again.  She says it was so bad that she needs counseling.

Maybe I'm just being cranky, but I cant accept that she was so traumatized by this incident that she did it again months later, especially if he didnt pay the first time.  She's a professional and I totally get not calling the police, but professionals know how to shoo the krazies away.  If it was as bad as she says she would have had a bouncer remove him when he approached her again.

I hate to say it, but I dont like this case.

This is pretty much what I believe too. I think he really did what she says but that she was not as badly hurt as she says.

Anna and the kids are going to be punished the most in all of this. No wonder they have been keeping her on such a tight leash. Jeez...more skeletons yet Josh or are you done?

Disability or the inability to work is not an easy or short process. There have to be many doctor's reports, the state sends a doctor and they also give a report, The paperwork just to file is enormous. It is not something you can just "claim" and there you have it you are now considered disabled. It goes before a judge who then decides the merits of your case. Or that is how it is done in Florida. I think Josh would have a tough time proving that he can not work at all doing anything. It may not be something he wants to work at doing but he would still be considered able to work. Psychiatric problems can be even harder to prove as it is one of those "unseen illnesses". He may be deemed disabled for a short time also depending on the circumstances (such as his time in rehab) and then expected to seek employment. But, it also may depend on the rehab facility and was it qualified to help him with the problems he is claiming to have? I have been the process in Florida and it took approximately 18 months with an attorney to get everything finalized and I was considered fortunate as I had massive medical records as back up.

Under normal circumstances, a decent defense attorney would probably be able to destroy her case pretty easily.   But the circumstances here involving a guy who belongs to a fundie family desperate to salvage it's brand make things a lot more interesting.

Maybe Josh can prove he was elsewhere during the alleged times and move to get this dismissed quickly.  If not, Jim Bob is probably already liquidating assets.  (if he hasn't already).

How likely is it that Josh went to rehab to burn through his liquid assets and not have to seek gainful employment because he knew this was coming?

and also obviously to try to make him look better, but mostly about the money?

not trying to victim blame but i do wonder if danica would've sued if her client had not been josh duggar. the whole story has been suspicious and fame-seeking from the get go, imo and i have to wonder if it's true, or she's just using him as an easy target. awful, either way.

Well, this will be interesting. Poor Jessa -- even naming her spawn Spurgeon couldn't keep her the center of attention and the family out of the fray for long!

But at least she is a godly woman with a godly husband with terrible taste in names.

my fiance shared this story on my wall. he knows me so well. :P

i think boob is shitting his pants right about now. he may have had delusions about sending josh to rehab and getting back into the limelight with a "reformed" son, but with this case, the bad publicity will only continue and will hamper any fool's chance he thought he might have had. i can only imagine the earful that josh is getting.

Ooh. I hadn't thought about that. That actually makes some sense to me. I'm not sure how likely it is from a legal stand point, but I could definitely see this being true.

Yes. Anna and the M-kids are definitely the ones who will suffer here.

If she won't run when a porn star is suing her dirtbag husband for half a million dollars, she's in it for good.

I feel sorry for Anna.

Maybe this will be the very thing that pushes her to leave Josh.

One can only hope.   But I doubt she will do it unless someone persuades her that it is the right thing to do to protect the kids--otherwise she would see herself as a bad person for deserting her husband when he most needs her etc.

Picking Josh up over a week early for Thanksgiving would be really strange to me. If he was at RU and left suddenly then I think something happened- either JB decided that RU was not the "right place" for Josh or maybe the Duggars are bracing for something else to come out.

Well, now we have a good new reason for why he may have been picked up early.  Maybe he needed to make some deposition or meet with lawyer?

The lawsuit from Danica will, at the very least, force him to come out of hiding at some point, I think.

As a non-American I don't really understand the context of suing in this type of case, when nothing illegal occured. It may be a cultural difference, but it seems opportunistic to me.

I am on the skeptical side regarding Danica.  I do believe she and Josh had sex.  However, my guess is that she already hit up JB for money, he said No, so she's filed suit.

maybe she's doing it like a breach or violation of contract type of thing? that's the kind of angle i'd go for if i was here (though i'm not, and obviously don't know what kind of evidence she'll present or anything).

This explains the emergency flight to take Josh out of rehab and back to Arkansas last week.  The real shame is that Anna's money is at stake, too.  Anything that was acquired/earned during the marriage, except by gift or inheritance, belongs to them jointly.  She could lose everything, including the house, cars, jewelry, etc.  They may have to file for bankruptcy if there is a judgment they cannot pay.  Also, if they lose the suit, they will have to pay the plaintiff's attorney fees (at least $100 per hour).

It makes them siging the house over right after this info was divulged in August, all the more interesting- They knew this was coming.
