Is it me or is Carlin wearing pants? (I'm assuming that IS Carlin in the purple shirt.)

I thought that, too, but I think she just has a shorter skirt on that clings enough to make it look like culottes in the picture of her walking.

I have a fundie light friend who travels at least once a year through an organization related to her church to Haiti to provide medical relief. She is a nurse and works in hospitals and in the field on her missions. While I don't agree with her beliefs, I do applaud her work actually *helping* people personally (while of course ministering on the side). She always shares about the actual medical work they're doing and less about the souls they "saved" while there. That said, she shared this link recently and I really think Jill and her buddies could benefit from what is says. It's even more interesting because the blog author is from Bentonville, Arkansas, so it wouldn't be surprising if the Duggars and this blogger have crossed paths at some point in time:

I don't know why but Jill seems miserable lately. In every photo I see she looks awkward and just out of it, especially in the Congratulations Video. I mean, she always was awkward but used to be more bubbly.

Maybe she is just now realizing everything that has happened to her and it's starting to get to her.

Hah! I noticed that. And I only noticed it because they have such an emphases on the need to wear modest frump wear. While whatever she is wearing is perfectly acceptable--its not the type of thing they usually wear. Like the slit in the skirt or if its pants or whatever.

Maybe the crowd is starting to move away from the frump wear. We did see Jinger wearing a sleeveless dress recently.

Snarkle that link is pretty good. It sums up a lot of what is wrong with mission tourism.

And Haiti is a good place for your friend to use her nursing skills. People lost interest only a few months after the earthquake, but the devastation was horrific and Haiti is still in need.

If they are in Guatemala, it's a tad bit safer than Honduras or El Salvador. I studied abroad there in college. There is a city in the country named Antigua that has an entire industry centered around teaching Spanish to foreigners. If they are in Antigua, they are pretty safe, especially during the day and when walking in groups. The only time we ever had escorts or guards is when we left the city. Otherwise, we used a buddy system and were just fine.

Did anyone else see the long bible quote on Derick's Twitter page in some unidentified language in a non-English alphabet? What the heck?

I'm pretty sure that's Nepali. I'm going to see if I can figure out which verses it is, just for fun.

Okay, it's Acts 2:8-12

Acts 2:8-12New Living Translation (NLT)

8 and yet we hear them speaking in our own native languages! 9 Here we are—Parthians, Medes, Elamites, people from Mesopotamia, Judea, Cappadocia, Pontus, the province of Asia, 10 Phrygia, Pamphylia, Egypt, and the areas of Libya around Cyrene, visitors from Rome 11 (both Jews and converts to Judaism), Cretans, and Arabs. And we all hear these people speaking in our own languages about the wonderful things God has done!†12 They stood there amazed and perplexed. “What can this mean?†they asked each other.

At least, that's what the top says, but it doesn't look like what I found on biblegateway.

https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?s ... ion=ERV-NE

That's definitely the book, and if I'm reading the numbers right it's 8-12, but the text looks different.

Edit: Okay, those are the right verses, he just didn't start exactly at verse 8 and end exactly at the end of 12. It's kind of a weird place to stop, if I'm seeing this right. I'm guessing he can't actually read Nepali, but I would be surprised if he could.

This is the google translation of the text he included:

How was that possible? We come from different places 9 Parthia, mediya, Elam, Mesopotamia, Judea, kapodisiya, Pontus, Asia, 10 Phrygia, Pamphylia, Egypt, Libya sairina side, 11 Cretans and arabiyabata Rome. Some of us are born with the Jews and others in the Jewish religion is entrusted change. We are from the different countries. But we can hear them speaking in our own language. They said about all the great things we can see. "

12 They were all amazed and perplexed. They asked one another

It cuts off that last question.

Anyway, that passage does make sense for him to post in a different language, since they're in language school now, right?

Yeah. It's "How to take any sentence and (insert here) change it into (language of your choice) on the computer". You can even translate some posts on Facebook. Atrocious grammar, poorly translated, but there you have it.

It's really a continuation of a theme for that family - half-assing things enough to get by. Want to make a living without working too much, wanting to appear intelligent and multi-lingual without trying too hard...

It's terrible how the Duggars seemingly cast a spell over the ILs and everyone who enters the family, immediately dumbs down to their lazy azz level and approach.

I get that their own kids know no better, but come on, Anna, Derick and Ben...stop sinking to the lowest level possible.

Anyone else notice Joy is going to Central America with the Dullard's? Sorry if I missed it here, I did a search for Joy and didn't see it mentioned. It's on JillyMuffin's Instagram.

It took me a minute but if this is indeed true it probably means Jill is preggers again. I think this is why she looks tired. She had a lot of morning sickness with Izzy, so Joy can help with him.

Also, anyone else think the Dillard name theme will be countries? I guess it more generically be "political statements" but...

I'm wondering if someone is going to fly out to pick up and fly back with Joy and Carlin or if they will be "trusted" to fly back just the 2 of them?

I think they will fly back with Jill and Derick in 3 weeks for Amy's wedding.

Derrick, please get a haircut. You aren't doing yourself any favors. And notice Izzy is wearing two different outfits in these pics.. curious...

I didn't think Joy & Carlin could go without male brother escorts to watch over them? Is this responsibility falling on Derick?

Well, was this two separate occasions? Izzy seems pretty big, so was it during his brief visit back to the states? If so, wasn't he in NYC and then Tennesee for the Bate's wedding? When was he able to see his grandparents, let alone on two separate occasions?

He could have just messed up his first outfit. I've learned that you always want at least one extra set of clothes if you're taking a baby somewhere.

I think those photos were taken in June when he and Jill went to Oklahoma for his cousin's wedding. I'm pretty sure Derick posted a similar photo back then though I'm too lazy to look for it now (the Josh stuff is keeping me busy enough, lol ;) )

I can't say enough how glad I am that Jill and Joy are out of the country right now. I'm kind of curious how much they know of the current situation at home. Are they only getting the heavily filtered version from their friends and family or have they been googling stuff themselves? And just as I write this, I see that Derick has posted on twitter -

Hmm, I wonder if he's trying to hint at something...
