Sounds like the "sin in the camp" might refer to Josh watching porn.

If this it is, I'm not even blaming Josh. Better to look at (hopefully legal) porn than to touch kids. Do fundy kids even get to look at drawings of anatomy?

I agree. I mean, as long as it was legal porn (no kids, no animals and everyone was participating voluntarily) I don't see it as such a big deal if a 16 year old does that. And of course, what those fundies consider "porn" could just have been some pics of women in bikinis or in their underwear.

The worst thing is that those fundies just don't make a difference between the really horrible things (like intimately touching minors, or people without their permission) and stuff that isn't all that bad, like a 16 year old looking at some porn.

There's some autoplay sound at the link, so I didn't stick around. Is the whole story quoted in the first post here?

Josh watching porn is perfectly natural. Molesting people? Not so much.

I do not condone his behaviour, his parents really are the ones to blame for the abuse though.

Yeah, I don't put any blame on Josh for this one. If this is the "sin in the camp", I wouldn't be surprised at all.

So he "backslid" away from Christ at age 14 when he touched two of his older sisters and a babysitter. Got right with God. Then backslid at 15 when he rubbed his two youngest sisters. Got some Gothard treatment. Good with God again. Backslid again at age 16 by watching porn when he was supposed to be working on the campaign (Sin in the Camp!). Got right with God again.

Seems to me this getting right with God thing is a bit of a racket and hardly a deterrent to future child molestation. So I really don't get the Smuggar Duggar defenders who say everything is okay because Jesus is okay with Josh. Because all Josh has to do if we he wants to molest some more kids is get right with God afterwards and all is cool again. (As long as he can avoid the law again.)

Yes, yes, yes.

And Gothard (as interviewed by the DM) did not present it as a matter of backsliding and rededication. His narrative is that Josh accepted Christ after the "mistakes" and that's why he is so clearly a new man and forgiven.

Josh's own website convicts that narrative. And I really do think one of the interviews with his family has yet another timeline, but I'm too disgusted to go look any time soon. Suffice it to say, their lack of attention to details leaves me questioning the truth of their beliefs.

Something that I have been thinking about:

When shit hits the fan and things go wrong there is this "sin in the camp" charge.

Shit has REALLY hit the fan. Are they looking for more sin in the camp? Are they accusing any family member of sinning and causing this?

Sin is sin. This could all be put on Jenny for not keeping a smile on her face.

I cringe when I see the phrase that Josh was punished by church elders. Why do I envision it being even harsher than touching his sisters?

Come on, out the elders Radar and InTouch. Out Gothard!

Yep. That is pretty much how it works. I know of a case where a child molesting teacher was caught, repented and then got his teaching job back when he got out of jail. It was in a private Bible Baptist school.

Agree his parents are culpable for the hiding the molestation and not getting Josh and his sisters the appropriate help, but Josh is still accountable for the molestations.

The porn...that doesn't disturb me, as long as it wasn't kiddie porn. And it bloody well could have been. He certainly knew some child pornographers.

I am convinced they are believers. They are not doing anything to suggest that they are NOT believers. This would be too elaborate a con, otherwise.

I wouldn't take what Gothard said to suggest that they are lying about when Josh got "saved". Gothard would not know the intimate details about when Josh got saved or when he backslid or how often. In reality, a person can backslide on a weekly basis and re-answer the altar every Sunday. There are people that do for various reasons. For example, someone with a drinking problem might fall off the wagon frequently and feel the need to get right with God again after a good sermon on Sunday. It is also a way to deal with deep rooted emotional difficulties. For example (and this will be dark) someone who was molested as a child and struggles with pain and hatred. That Altar call on Sunday night can be part of an emotional release for people that need it. In general, no one in the congregation knows the details of why someone is asking for "deliverance" or to have "hands laid on them" unless the person tells everybody. It is also possible to just say that Satan is tempting you and you need prayer and everyone will rush over to lay hands on you. "Satan is tempting me" is pretty vague but it is all anyone needs to know. Even vaguer is when the person requests "healing". Sometimes it is about being physically sick, but very often it is about "spiritual sickness" that they want prayer for.

So bottom line, I think that DM interview with Gothard is about protecting his own brand and attempting to create a blameless narrative about his role in the entire affair. Plus, Josh coming for treatment at his center in a "state of sin" and emerging from the center as a true Christian is a statement about the efficacy of his program.

I also have no doubt that this entire band of idiots believes that it is possible to cure a pedophile this way. Just like they believe that LGBT people can be cured. It is a foundation of their faith. "Jesus Saves". The reason I have no doubt is the way they are wandering around clueless as to why we would not swallow their story. They live in a different reality. What makes no sense at all to the average person makes perfect sense to them.

I think that the baseboards in the bedrooms look the same (Jill video vs. Trulia). Those don't look like common baseboards to me, or at least 8th my area. It looks like they changed the floors and baseboards in the main room (Sierra picture). It looks like stacks of floor wood in the Sierra picture. I also agree that the window looks the same. With all that help, the SS house is probably done and lived in now.

The Donaldson guy has the Duggars all over his instagram https://instagram.com/joe_donaldson_1/ including where he went on their bus to a Republican watch party:

Weird. His video of Jill walking around, singing is gone now. It was there last night. Those do look like the same light fixtures too.

Yeah, he's been scrubbing posts today. He removed a pic of him, JB and JD in a Duggar airplane with an unidentified man, too; just posted today.

 So let me get this straight. He puts the tag #19kids on that pic to, what, get attention for having the Duggars over, right? And then when he starts attracting attention from us, people who have an interest in #19kids, then he deletes it? And if he's deleting other Duggar pics, that makes me curious about whether it was a personal decision to delete it or a Duggar PR decision.

I fully believe that Boob and Mullet probably punished him more for this this, which is perfectly normal and natural, than they did for him molesting his sisters.

Probably because the girls are to blame for being molested because they're girls.

Exactly. They're even more fucked up than ever if porn was given a harsher punishment than molesting his sisters.
