Randy of Say Yes to the Dress Imagines Jill's Dress

The 19K&C Facebook has a guest post by His Majesty Randy Fenoli of Say Yes to the Dress, picturing Jill's wedding dress. He writes:

{L_OFFTOPIC} :
"I feel this wedding gown by Edargo Bonilla would be absolutely perfect for Jill! It has a full ball gown skirt of tulle and lace, and has a high neck and 3/4 length sleeves. This will give her the coverage she needs, yet is light, airy, and will make her feel like a true princess on her wedding day. The mixture of laces makes it fresh, whimsical, and romantic."

I don't think she or other fundies would go for any kind of sweetheart like that, not without a modesty panel covering up that super-sexy upper chest skin. I am, however, still holding out for one of these fundies to do a good Kate Middleton-style lace-sleeve dress, and was surprised Alysa Bates didn't do it. Anyone else's thoughts?

Her pinterest has a dress thats fundie appropriate and princessy, but still has some lace. It looks like crap from further away, but Up close its actually quite nice.

I'd love to see Randy's pick though. I've seen some mormon dresses that throw in cleavage coverage and cap sleeves under an illusion lace neckline and it looks half decent.

That dress is pretty but I don't see Jill in it. It looks better suited to a fall or winter wedding. I think Jill will go for something with short sleeves, something similar to Alyssa's dress. Can't wait to see what she goes with.

Yeah, I don't see Jill in Randy's pick. There would need to be more coverage than just lace at the top. The lace may meet modesty standards of other conservative brides, but definitely not fundies. I love the lace sleeves though. The rest is too poofy and too lacy at the top for my tastes.

I'm not going to lie, I dont like that dress at all. Especially with the turtleneck look. And I, like a previous poster, think she'd choose a straighter skirt. Or at least an a-line rather than the ball gown look.

I can imagine Jill in a dress with a straighter line skirt, something like this (obviously with a more modest v neck!)

However I think the fundy convention of wedding dress = princess dress may win out :|

That dress is gorgeous.

I was thinking something romantic and kind of bohemian for her

Just some guesses :D It's going to be so interesting to see what she picks.

Country (with a higher neckline of course)

Coco, I love the second one you chose. And I can definitely see Jill wearing it.

That pic is actually making me laugh a bit.Randy used to design wedding dresses and my first wedding dress in 1995 was his design which was like the sleeveless older sister of this dress. It too had a "turtle neck" though it was halter and completely backless. Business in the front, party in the back. Funny his taste hasn't changed much. Mine sure did with wedding dress #2.

Well now I'm looking at Mormon wedding dresses. I don't really like the one she pinned, but I actually like some of the others on that site.

Here's a more modest lace sleeve dress and I think this one isn't so bad as t-shirt dresses go. Even this one isn't my style but if you want cap sleeves and a ballgown dress I think it looks a whole lot better than the altered dresses a lot of fundie girls have worn.

I could see her wearing something along these lines...

Or this...

I think she'd look cute in some variation of a tea length one, though...

I wish Randy would show some other choices - I usually think he seems to read brides pretty well, but I am NOT a fan of the dress he suggested for Jill (for her or otherwise!)

I do not care for the dress Randy suggested or what Jill tried on at the bridal store. I wish Jill would have done an episode of Say Yes to the Dress Atlanta. I love the Atlanta version of the show!

Here are two modest dresses that I think are really pretty

I usually like lace and sparkles but this one is so simple and pretty too.

Dear fundies everywhere, there are companies that specialize in modest dresses JUST FOR YOU. Stop attaching tshirts to wedding dresses.

Kthxbye,

Jerkit

Ive always wondered if Gothardite biblethumpers, esp. in the small town south, are a bit squeamist about buying wedding dresses from modest wedding sites run by Mormons or Orthodox Jews. Possibly a bit too exotic for them.

My wedding dress could have been the child of these 2 dresses:

post-481-14451998978101_thumb.jpg

It was the shape and had a similar lace overlay as the first dress, with the neckline of the second dress. I chose off-white (really a winter white), but it had nothing to do with chaste or unchaste. Bright white simply makes me look completely washed out. I also chose to have sleeves, because I hate my upper arms.

I could "totally" see Jill in a dress like this, if the neckline was TASTEFULLY raised a bit. Looking at the first dress (which really represents my dress better, but for the neckline) maybe I could see Jessa in it more than Jill. Regardless, with some tasteful redesign of the neckline, I could see a J'slave with a similar dress.

It should be noted that one of the reasons I chose the dress is because I loved the plunging sweetheart neckline. It showed off one (two) of my best assets. :D

Love the first one. I doubt any of the older girls will go tea length- a little to close to Nike! The tea length one you picked is cute and fun but the sheer décolleté area- oh my Nike! HA!

I agree, I don't like Randy's pick.

I was looking at David Bridal since they are all over. They have one I think is modest and would look good on Jill. Like many of you, I picked a lacy one with a flattering shape but not show too many curves - http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_Cap ... ou-Covered

I wonder if the bride in the David's dress had to ride her bicycle to the ceremony. Or, maybe that is the getaway vehicle. Hmmmm.............

I'm discovering that there are plenty of ready-made modest wedding gowns that do not require the addition of a t-shirt. Here's another one (maybe more Jessa than Jill):
