I watched this show in 2 days. It is so good. I love its diversity and the cast is phenomenal.

Fucking Pornstache! Hate him! I'm hoping he gets his, and in a big way (and soon). The only thing I'm confused about is in Alex's flashbacks, there's always this drug dealer guy hanging around (like when she went to meet her dad). Is that Pornstache? If so, have he and Alex acknowledged each other in prison?

definitely not Pornstache. I know the guy you're talking about and he introduced himself when he first met Alex, but I don't remember his name. besides, he's probably in prison now, too, for running an international drug ring! I don't think he'd pass any background checks, haha. but that scene when Alex meets her dad, oh man. how disappointing.

I don't know anything about the real Piper's writing style, but I'm really not interested in the book. Obviously in real life she wouldn't have been in prison with her ex gf (Nora?) who named her, but Alex and Piper's relationship in the show is one of the main attractions for me, personally. The real star of the show is the ensemble cast and seeing voices that are not usually represented. I couldn't even stand Piper for the first half of the season, especially when she had any scenes with Larry. Realistically written, but gawd, what an obnoxious couple.

just finished the series and really enjoyed it and yes the ending was a surprise. lorna morell is Australian but her accent sure is not on the show. I was really surprised. Nicky I think was on American pie and larry bloom was and it even had some references from those movies.

Whee, just finished watching the last episode (whoa), so can finally read this thread plus spoilers! It's so good...I can't even decide who my favorite character is. I like Suzanne a lot and want to see her back story, and I was sad to see Taystee come back but happy to see more of the character, especially her friendship with Poussay. In the last episode,

it was great when the woman who doesn't talk (can't remember her name!) started singing, but with all the cuts to Piper I thought she was going to get saved and that was how the conflict with Pennsatucky would get solved. Which would have sucked, even if the confrontation in the yard was horrifying.

I can't wait 12 months!

ETA: I would have thought it (the thing in the spoiler) sucked because it would have felt like a cop-out.

Did any of you know that Laura Prepon (Alex) is a Scientologist? She said so in an interview in 2007 and I haven't found anything more recent that negates it or says she's left it.

I just finished watching the last episode, and I loved it all. I can't wait until next season, I really want to learn more about Pennsatucky (like maybe another flashback to explain the meth and the crazy) and Suzanne. I love Suzanne!

I love how they portray all the characters, they all seem pretty fleshed out and realistic which, as someone who usually watches really poorly done television, is a nice change.

Might be a silly thing that I missed but did it say exactly why did Claudette end up in jail? I saw that she killed the man who abused the girl, but it seemed like she didn't get caught for that.

I assumed that her house full of cleaning girls was illegal (like they were forced to stay there and they had to give their wages to her and others who ran it) and that she got caught for that. But I don't know if we really know what landed her in prison.

I was like hello Pornstache character would say something as disrespectful as that about Jesus. The season finale left me going ah snap. Season 2 is going to be something. Religious freak ended up getting hers and will be interesting to see what happens there. I thought it was funny an uber religious group was funding her legal defense. These same people would have been appalled at her for her 5 previous abortions. I'm dying to know what Red did to end up in there. I know she was involved with the mob some how. Also Crazy Eyes is just so heart breaking in a way. I want to know why she is there. So many story lines and so much potential for this show. I think they could continue the show with just the ensemble cast if the show goes a few more seasons.

Yeah, I'm not really that interested in Piper anymore, definitely don't care much about Jason Biggs character, and I'm not a fan of Laura Prepon so that's all fine me with. I'd also like for Natasha Lyonne to leave the show or take a reduced role so that we can really learn more about the supporting characters and their history and what they were like when they first came to prison. What did Daya do? What did her mom do? There are so many questions and it's going to be so long before new episodes come out!

Mr. Bones and I just finished watching the last episode. I commented on how Larry is such an asshole and my husband was a bit incredulous. So I had to explain that yes, while Piper is messed up, Larry is just an ass. He initially came off sympathetic, sticking by piper as her prison term interrupted their life together. But within three weeks of her going in, he immediately believes a total stranger's lies that she has lesbian activity, and shut her down by refusing to talk to her. He held the power totally since she could not seek him out in any other way but the occasional call from a pay phone. That is just asshole-y.

I knoooooow. This is the downside of the Netflix Era. I guess one of these years they'll have a hit series premiering/returning pretty much all the time, but right now us fans of OitNB and House of Cards are getting antsy!
