  1. Sad story out of the UK Kind of caught me off guard because I thought the Church of England had been open to same sex relationships given the hostility some parts of the Anglican Communion show to it and the Episcopal Church. Guess not though.
  2. I read an article that Mackinac Island (island in Michigan with no cars, big tourist destination) is hosting their first pride festival! This is great news! It will take place Sept 22-25 and events include drag queen bingo, brunch, hayride, queer prom dance, vendor market, bike ride (lots of bike rides no cars on the island), cruise, etc. The article: Mackinac Island to host first pride festival celebrating LGBTQ+ community - mlive.com I made the mistake of reading comments about the event on Facebook. So much hate and uneducated responses. My only hope is some of them are bots. https://www.facebook.com/mlive/posts/pfbid02ooKSBxHgGKkh2LuSAHKWcPLUBpuY9eHe3qjbuicN3qeG4xLqbABUTP4sLQndKDYEl
  3. I'm not the only lifelong who decided to depart after the GQP got to work turning Iowa into a Branch Trumpvidian shit hole I'm not LGBTQ but I left because the state was turning into such a GQP shithole that I no longer recognized it. I might not have if I had known further health issues were coming but at least I got to a better place. (It's not the warzone right wing douche cannons want you to believe either).
  4. A Baptist Pastor in Georgia was approached by a married LGBTQ couple and asked if they could join his church. He allowed them to join even knowing the SBC wouldn't be too happy over it. I think Towne View are the winners in this little contest. Sure they got the boot from their denomination and lost quite a few members but the pastor did what he had to in order to sleep at night. And given how much in bed the SBC has been in with Republicans and OFM they can now do their thing. The SBC isn't the only game in town when it comes to Baptist denomination so I'm sure other denominations would welcome Towne View.

    Feel Good

Has anyone else watched comedian Mae Martin's new show on Netflix, Feel Good? It's a semi-autobiographical show about sexuality, addiction, substance abuse, and mental health.
  6. Didn’t expect this Awaiting the Reich wing freak out.

  9. LGL, Lithuania's main (only?) LGBT organization was targeted in an arson attack in early August. The doors were set on fire, but it was put out by taxi driver. Now, somebody has set fire in the apartment building where Romas Zabarauskas lives. Zabarauskas is popular LGBTQ+ activist and film maker, who, following the first attack on LGL, put a rainbow flag on his balcony as a sign of support. When he told the police that he suspects the second attack was linked to that, they told him to take down the flag "before the whole house burns down". Nice. The latest updates say that Zabarauskas managed to raise 1,500 euros to buy and give away 500 flags for Lithuanian LGBTQ+ community and allies to put on their own balconies. They even managed to put a rainbow flag on Vilnius municipality. Still horrifying. Especially if second attack was indeed meant for Zabarauskas and somebody just had their apartment door burned because they happen to have a gay neighbor. Police reaction... Cmoon. Hell no. 11. What a great piece of news! Bet both the SBC & her alma mater, Samford U, are in a major quandary over this! Insert other media

  13. I don't know if I should put this here or in WWoS, but this seems to be more appropriate. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2018/apr/13/trinidad-and-tobago-sexual-offences-act-ruled-unconstitutional It looks like they still have a long way to go before law looses power, but this is still worth celebrating.

I am so tired of this behavior. I don't understand the desire to annihilate Americans, humans, people . . . . LGBTQ Musings

Ended up getting kind of drunk tonight and having pre-Thanksgiving wine with a neighbor who is also gay! It's interesting to see the older generation's perspective and stories though. I'm too young to know the AIDS crisis and so on, so it's like a real history lesson to hear about it. At the same time, I'm so grateful to be a part of this new LGBTQ generation who WON'T have to wish for marriage or face non-acceptance from every quarter.
