Jim Bob is such a jackass

I think there was a pretty big difference in the timing of the two trips, although someone can correct me if I'm wrong here. I think they went to CO the year after Josie was born, when she was just under a year old. The international trip was at least 8-9 months after that, when she was almost 2. Of course, parents who actually gave 2 shits about their preemie child wouldn't have taken her on either trip, but I guess the fact that Josie was over a year old and it wasn't flu season were part of their reasoning...if they had any.

It's so hard to tell any difference between how she looks when they go to CO than when they go to Israel.

It was a good decision not to allow her to go to CO. We all saw how things turned out by letting her go to Israel, too.

Grandma Duggar probably doesn't give 2 shits if we see her knees, lol. She doesn't strike me as a huge phony like Michelle does!

Wow, Jim Bob is the most selfish and self-centered person that I know of. This really fits right along with "Duggar time". Nobody else matters but him.

+1. He does that sort of if-I-laugh-people-won't-notice-what-a-douche-I-am thing. And he does that CONSTANTLY!

My aunt and cousin work at the ski resort that the Duggars visited. My aunt is visible standing in the background while the Duggars try on ski boots and I found out later that my cousin (He was a little kid last time I saw him, so I wasn't sure what he looked like now) was one of the guys working the counter.

She said that they were very nice and a lot of fun to meet. I'm sure they always act that way when they're out.

Too bad she didn't meet them when the cameras weren't on them, considering the misbehavior that has been caught even with the cameras rolling.

Not surprising at all that Josh doesn't know how to properly drive in the mountains and still drives too fast while doing it.

ETA: Josie is too small and it is too risky to bring her on the three state trip to Colorado, but flying to the UK and Israel were perfectly fine?! What the hell is wrong with these people?

I was a bit stunned that a couple of the kids are allowed to drive that rig. There's not a chance in hell I'd let any of them drive it. None of them have enough years of driving under their belts. We own an RV, and my husband, with 12 years of driving experience, was uncomfortable at first, and still won't drive it with people in the back moving around. And since none of them have snow experience, which brings in a new set of rules (LIKE NOT FUCKING SPEEDING NO MATTER WHAT!! - you actually go under the speed limit), this proves that they're all reckless and don't think death can touch any of them. Between that and the way Boob was on the slope ignoring the instructors, and yup, taking Josie overseas (I don't think for a second that Michelle stayed home to be with Josie because it "wasn't safe" when they put her on planes, I think she just wanted a bit of peace and quiet, but couldn't say so), where Josie did have an emergency, they really think they're so favored that they're safe no matter what.

To Karl Vogelbacher, "You sound like you're really from Italy!"

"I'm from Switzerland." (fairly thick German accent)

"Close enough."

SOTDRT FAIL!!!

 :flags-usa:

To those xenophobes, basically, "You really sound like a foreigner!"

Is there a better link to the whole episode? I tried to follow it, and it didn't work, and all I got with a cursory google search was a 1 1/2 minute snippet.

I was kind of shocked they were letting the kids sleep in top bunks and move about while driving. If there was an accident, or if they even skidded going round a corner or had to stop suddenly, there could be serious injuries.

I've never driven an RV, but I was always under the impression you're meant to be sitting, preferably belted, when on the road, like you would in a coach bus.

I pretty much quit watching the show after the shingles comment since several of my relatives including my mom had shingles, and every one of us had chicken pox as children since there was no vaccine until recently.

The Duggars would not vaccinate for chicken pox. They think the vaccine contains aborted fetuses. :angry-banghead:

I also had them before the vaccine. I was in kindergarten and I had a bad case due to a genetic skin condition. I would have been in the hospital if my mom had not been a nurse. I was the plague rat that gave it to my sisters friends because my parents found the spots right after her birthday party.

I didn't. What happened?

Josie got sick and had to stay in Israel a few extra days, while the majority of the family flew back home. When she was well enough to go home, she had to be hooked up to oxygen and a nurse (I think?) had to fly home with them.

It was actually a doctor who had to escort them home.

And, of course, all this happened after another one of their non-micro-preemie girls (Jordyn?) had had to be hospitalized as an infant when she got pneumonia while they were traveling. I don't believe for a second that Josie's doctors at home didn't tell them to live in a bubble for the first year or two of her life.

These people only hear what they want to hear from medical professionals regarding their "blessings." We saw Josie's neonatologist say on air that preemies need to live in a bubble for the first year to two years of life, depending on the kid. Boob and Jchelle heard "first year" and ran with it, taking their preshus miracle babby out of the country at one year old, regardless of any other medical advice they were given.

I wonder if she had received any of the recommended vaccines for the trip.I know that Measles is a problem in Europe and Israel.

Not only that (vaccines) but consider some of them got into the river to be baptised-with huge rats swimming around them. Who knows what diseases those things were carrying!

You can't buy vaccines used and save the difference, so I doubt those kids have received any. The massive chicken pox outbreak confirms that they're at least not receiving all of the recommended vaccines.

Hoping on the ISB....

From my inlaws who are IFB, it seems that their children are encouraged to "accept Jesus" early and get baptised -- so I presume most of the Duggarling have been baptised, especially the older ones. Three of my nieces have been baptised at five years old (one was baptised at four -- she is developmentally challenged, but with what I don't know as her parents have never had her screened. She was home schooled until late last school year and now she's in a "Christian" school where none of the teachers have any quality education. All teachers were home schooled and then went to Fundie bible colleges for a year or so.)

Anyway, what is the point in getting baptised in the River Jordan if you've already been baptised? If it's such a holy thing to do, you can't just say, "well the first one didn't take, so I'm going to do it again." If I could put aside the filth that was in that water, for me, I could reconcile just being in biblically historic water. I wouldn't have to go through the motions of getting re-baptised just because I was there. It seems awfully attention whorish to me, but then again, look who we're talking about....

All sorts of bacteria and parasites. For all we know, some of them may have gotten sick from that. They would never admit it though.

I don't think the Duggar kids are baptized, actually. We've seen 7 Duggar babies born and never seen an infant baptism. We've also seen the older kids grow through their pre-teen years with no "accepting Jesus Christ" baptism either. I'm not sure what the official ATI stance is, but I don't think they believe baptism is a requirement. Which of course raises the question of why they were baptized in the Jordan, but maybe they just figured it was Something You Do when you go to the Holy Land.

Eh, I can picture Jim Bob admitting it on air and then laughing carelessly.
