I wonder if the judge can order him not to talk about the case. That would keep him from stirring up violence and from using it for fundraising.

The only way they'd keep his mouth shut is to lock him in a solitary soundproof cell and maybe also stitch his mouth shut. He literally cannot shut up.

DeSantis not assisting with the extradition could be a strategic maneuver against his main opponent: it essentially imprisons Trump in Florida. As soon as Trump attempts to leave the state, he will be arrested and arraigned, so Trump can't campaign. So Trump will have to voluntarily surrender if he wants to be able to effectively run for the candidacy. Either way, DeSantis stands to gain: either Trump is kept from campaigning, or Trump gets arraigned and will probably have to stand trail in the midst of campaign-season.

Win-win for sneaky bastard DeSantis. He appears to be helping Trump by refusing to help extradite him, while also ensuring Trump can't go do his constant campaigning.

Out of curiosity, I looked up the range of "Trump Force One" which is apparently a Boeing 757. Standard ones have a range from about 3000-4000 miles. I would be willing to bet there are a couple people on Trump's team currently figuring the logistics of fleeing the country, if only as a backup plan. Unfortunately Trump has insulted so much of South America that I would be surprised if he would attempt a stop there, Canada is unlikely to let him land, and he'd probably have to have a stop at one of those places (or potentially an island somewhere) in order to make a transatlantic crossing in that aircraft. It's just too far a flight from Florida to the middle east or Russia (or North Korea) for him to get there without a stop somewhere unfriendly, as best I can guess. Shortest crossing I think is Recife in Brazil to Cape Verde off of Africa. Within range for his aircraft... if they can get him out of US airspace, and if Brazil and Cape Verde will allow him to land, and if the international ATC will communicate with the pilots to coordinate the flight, and, and, and...

He finally won a popular vote.

Thank you!

That is perfect.

Just for him, I wish they could give a gag order with an actual gag.

Yeah, I doubt Trump Force One could make it to Europe.  Certainly not to Moscow or most of the Middle East.

I've lost track of all the different airliner types I've been on over the years but quite a few were on 767s, which had no problem making it from Chicago to Rome.  Looks like the 767 has over 6000 miles of range.

I hope Bragg insists on Donnie surrendering all his passports and the judge goes along with that.

As a person who self-identifies as a Christian - this is very offensive.

Also a self-identified Christian (yes, Lori, yes, Jill, yes, Steve, et al, Catholics ARE Christians :my_dodgy:), and while I tend to let most stuff like this roll off my back, this one does bother me a bit. Borders on, if not IS, blasphemy, in my view. Might just be because it's Trump; I found it blasphemous when he stood there in front of that church in DC waving a Bible upside down as well.

Yeah a guy on my FB feed was going on about who else got arrested right before Easter along with a picture of Jesus Christ. I blocked him.

What fuck face is going through. None of that compares to execution by crucifixion. And he stands for the exact opposite of what Jesus Christ stood for.

It'd be someone amusing in a dystopian way to see an OJ style airliner chase, but chances are it's entirely impossible with the aircraft he has. Between his likely overly-heavy "luxury" modifications, the age of the plane, the fact it's a private plane, and the fact that literally ANY plane above a certain flight level without clearance is going to get a visit from a couple fighter jets sooner than later, I think he's stuck even if he could convince his pilots to attempt it. The coast guard might want to keep an eye out for a boat smuggling a suspiciously orange-tinted person away from Mar-a-lago, though.

I'm surprised he didn't make a run for Saudi Arabia last week, honestly. I'm mostly joking about him potentially fleeing the country. But only because he hasn't done it already.

Don Junior, though... if something came up and he thought he was at risk, he might see if his dealer can't smuggle him back out the way his nose candy came in.

What if one of his cronies sends a properly equipped plane for him?  I'm sure everyone will be keeping an eye on Trump Force One, but what if he slips away on another aircraft and lands someplace where his passports don't matter?  Hopefully, there's an order in effect that forbids him from leaving the US prior to turning himself in, and the Secret Service won't let it happen, but who knows?

I don't think he'll flee but, if he did, I'd be happy.  It would show his base what a coward he really is.  And if he ended up in some place like Saudi Arabia, those MAGA hat wearing fools might not like him quite so much.  As it is what with the Secret Service protection that he's promised, he'll never spend a day in jail anyway.  Better to have him out of the country -- although I no longer think it's likely.

Yeah, you do raise a good point but I'm not sure how well that would work to sneak a whole plane in to get fuck knob out of the country.  I think just a flight in on such a plane would raise a few questions.  What I see more happening is that someone like Putin tries to stage an elaborate operation to get him out of the country and over to Russia.

What I am hoping is that the various agencies have done their goddamn homework to keep him here to be held accountable.

I think even most "off-the-shelf" airliners would have serious difficulty with our modern US fighters.  Heavier airliners like even a 737 or 757 aren't going to be outmaneuvering and would be forced to turn around and land pretty quickly.

Well now supposedly it looks like he'll surrender next Tuesday.

Quote

Former President Donald Trump is expected to walk down a hallway in view of media cameras on his way to a courtroom for his arraignment Tuesday, according to a source familiar with the planning.

It is unclear whether any cameras will be permitted in the courtroom during the proceeding, prompted by a grand jury's indictment this week. Judge Juan Merchan will ultimately decide on courtroom media rules, and he has historically denied media access requests in other high-profile cases, like the Trump Organization trial last year.

Merchan did allow still photographers in the courtroom, however, for the organization's former CFO Allen Weisselberg’s sentencing in January.

The 15th floor of 100 Centre Street, the courthouse where Trump will be arraigned, was closed to the public Friday, guarded by court officers. Guards will continue to secure it ahead of the proceeding Tuesday afternoon.

Why would Putin go to all that trouble for an idiot that’s not useful anymore?

If he takes Trump Force One up to Manhattan I hope ketchup is easy to clean off the interiors because he'll be ranting and raving the whole trip up.  And that he gets a fighter escort in case Fuckoptomus gets any wild ideas about going somewhere else.

Actually, fuck face being a liability to Russian is one reason where I could see Putin would want him back on Russian soil so he doesn't spill the beans on how much Russia used him as their agent for the past quarter century.  Putin might want to get him out so fuck face can be stuffed into a Moscow area mansion and be kept from turning against Putin.  And of course kept there until they figure out which window would work best.
