I get ads according to what I've been searching.  Right now it's shoe ads.  Once I looked at lamps.  I got ads for lamps for a month!  Steve is getting sensuous women's clothing ads.  Hmmmmmm...........

At least you're getting shoes.  I'm getting incontinence ads LOL  I have been buying my elderly mother her Depends.  People do get ads according to their searches.

This statement of his is interesting "Even if many (most?) Christians would deem those ads not sinful, it’s small compromises that lead to darkness."  When the average person sees an ad that rubs them the wrong way, they just say "Eww no" and move on.  But when a person sees something that they struggle with, that's when they're tempted to cave into the temptation.  For instance, when I was pregnant with my youngest, I had gestational diabetes.  It didn't help that I craved Oreo cookies and could polish off half the package.  It took willpower not to buy them at the store when they were staring me in the face.  Last week Steve made the cheerleader comment, and this week he's talking about pictures of girls leading him into darkness.  I will bet anything that he's got something going on in his head and he is fighting some kind of demons where young girls are concerned.

Still can't believe that none of his computer-adept children told him about algorithms.

Speaking of which, because I checked out the luxury RV manufacturer that made Clarence Thomasʻ vacation ride, I am now seeing ads for RVs. So, I went back to the luxury RV website and looked at what they call bus conversions -- converting new commercial bus shells into luxury recreational vehicles and corporate coaches.

Just imagine if Uriah had gotten a make-over like this!

I wonder if Clarence Thomas has a driver for his rig. I go NOT want to search for it, as right now, RV’ing is a very positive thing for me & I’d like to keep it that way. ;)

The NYT article has a photo of him at the wheel but who knows what the truth is.

For years we've thought of him & Ginni parking their RV at WalMarts across the US -- come to find out, of course, that they were actually flying & yachting around with their billionaire buddies.

EGGS-ackley! I ordered some irrigation parts from a company this spring and now, on FJ, on Facebook, on IG, I get ads like this one:

Those outfits have eye traps?  THOSE?

I  guess I can see a depraved fundy guy getting a boner from seeing a slit in the back of a pencil skirt, that is there for the sole purpose of allowing the wearer to walk in it. And the lacy top in the first one, okay. . .But 2, 3, 5, and 6 couldn't possibly be any frumpier, could they?

I keep getting TEMU ads. I don't remember going to their sites. I get Zulily ads because I like to go there for OXO when they have it on sale. But TEMU is annoying.

Do you play phone games or have allowed a child to download those terrible "free" games that come loaded with ads? I think Temu comes from those on my phone. They are, thankfully mostly gone. I usually get lululemon, modcloth, Wacoal, arcteryx, rei, etc ads on fj now, but they all link to stuff that's sold out or otherwise no longer available. And the ads look like they were designed by someone who bought a degree on wish.com

Steve is so weird amd today's Seriously post seems ultra lazy.

@Maggie Mae No kids to amuse with a phone thank goodness. The casino games I play usually just link to other games. I don't usually play stuff on my phone, my Ipad has 4 casino games and solitaire.

Someone will have to summarize Steve's column because I don't have it.

I'm not really with it. My Poppy died last night on our couch while we were watching tv. She had been sick but we thought she was one the mend but she started getting real strange yesterday afternoon. I was watching her breathe when she took one breath, rolled her head up and grimaced and expired. She was our 12 year old German Shorthaired Pointer and she was the love of my life. I always felt safe when she was with me. This morning we took her to the vet and they will do aftercare. We should have her back by Tuesday and she'll join our other loves who have crossed the rainbow bridge. IMG_0819.thumb.jpeg.770057845a8fe7400cfc2472ead5cc8f.jpeg

@anniebgoodI am so very sorry Poppy crossed the rainbow bridge. I am sending you lots of love and a big virtual air hug (if that is your thing). It is heartbreaking to lose a member of the family.

I'm so sorry for your loss. That sounds traumatic and sad. Why do pets have to have such short lives?

I'm sorry about your furbaby. The time we have with them is never enough.

As for the column, it was an easy one. Basically summed up with "You need to be stricter and say no to more stuff cuz nothing is harmless."

Yes Steve we get it, you don't like anything that is FUN! I think he is trolling us, albeit unsuccessfully.

NO RX REQUIRED!

Ahhh, so pleasurable! It is not an opioid but just as addicting and how painful the with-drawl will be. Most are introduced to it as children, and by adolescence they are hooked. It does not have a stigma in our “circles” because it isn’t considered by most to be sinful. Since it isn’t seen as sinful, the appeal is irresistible. So what could be possibly wrong with it?

Could it be the reason why the American church has not been about the Lord’s business, why many fathers shrink from their responsibility to disciple their children, why children have no interest in being discipled? Based on my observation, it appears to be the “free pass” to do anything that is not overtly sinful. It keeps God’s children from being busy with their hand to the plow, from redeeming their time wisely in serving Christ. Might it be Satan’s most clever deception yet?

“And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment; That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ; Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God” (Philippians 1:9-11).

Oh my Brothers, even if FUN is neutral and not sinful, it is not excellent and will not bear fruit to God’s glory.

I thought the same.

If Stevie read his Bible properly, he would realise Jesus was having FUN when he turned water into wine grape juice for a piss up!

I'm not surprised.  Stevie and some of our other fundies feel that we are born in sin and must be endlessly punished and striving only to do things for God in order to make sure we get to heaven.  That is so messed up.  No wonder everyone used to look so unhappy.

Fundies are where the fun dies.

Steve Maxwell must have been going crazy about seeing Sarah enjoying life with her husband and his other two daughters enjoying college. They’ve all been pictured in so many fun activities that were clearly only taking place for the purpose of being fun.

He has officially lost his damn mind.  I really think he is going off the deep end.  Someone in that family needs to reel him in because he is embarrassing himself.

Wait, that's not the one I didn't understand at all. The one dated August 23 was incomprehensible to me and included a sentence that ended with a person's name.

Honestly and truly, there are a lot of times I feel like we probably overexaggerate the "no F*n for the Maxwell's!" line in our snark. And then he literally says things like this, and I remember.

This column reminds me of one of Teri’s, in which one of Nathan’s daughters is effusively praised for writing a book report in which she excoriates an otherwise entertaining and worthwhile book for not being “edifying.” (Unfortunately, Teri never specified the book.)
