They already made the film, Idiocracy. I only watched the beginning of the film, but what your describing is pretty much the opening sequence of the film. Sadly.

I never saw that, though I see references to it here and there. Did they actually have their own nonsense sort of language?

Plants need Brawndo. It's got electrolytes. What the plants crave.

Idiocracy doesn't have a language, per say, but instead a lack of grammar. Idiocracy is really good. It looks like you can stream it on Starz or Prime right now. At the very least, watch some clips online. Terry Crews as President Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho needs to be seen.

Proper spelling is not as trendy as it used to be.

As someone above said, this isn’t a misspelling like transposing vowels or other letters, as an example. Carlin actually made up a word with a completely different beginning sound. And since she has done it more than once, it’s not a spelling error. It’s a knowledge deficit.

If they wouldn't all insist on homeschooling, I wouldn't mind their lack of common knowledge, spelling, and grammar as much as I do now. However, they do homeschool, and these severely uneducated people will be/are educating their own children. And I definitely judge them for that.

The Bates 19 have two college educated parents and look where they are educationally. Now think about them homeschooling Gen 3, how is that going to turn out?

And didn’t Carlin graduate from college? A college graduate who speaks English as her first language and doesn’t know the word antibiotic? Do you think KJ uses the word anab… (clearly I don’t even know how Carlin spells that word that she uses).

I’m not a great speller. Therefore I rarely put much stock in poor spelling. I know I’m not an idiot and I spell things wrong all the time. I think the thing that really bothers me is that they are homeschooling. I don’t homeschool my kids. And my oldest got second in the school spelling bee! He didn’t get his spelling abilities from me! And he might not be as good at it if I was homeschooling. I don’t think you have to be a great speller to be successful and happy in life. But to me it shows the laziness of the homeschooling they received. Sometimes I wonder if the younger Bates kids are getting a better education than the older ones. Kelly has been using tutors for at least a decade. The little ones may end up getting a better education because of that.

Lots of people can't spell, but they learn how to use words in sentences to convey general meaning, and hopefully, to not use words they don't comprehend without looking into the matter a bit further.

One thing I imagine is nice for people with various spelling difficulties is to be able to ask the phone or computer what something means, and it will tell them aloud. And for typing, search engines have gotten better at "did you mean," though I dislike that it seems to assume fewer words than I want to know about, which can be frustrating.

It isn't as good at "how do you pronounce [word I've often seen in print but never said aloud]" but that's improving, too.

And when she types or says the word she’s uses for antibiotic, would she not get the red line underneath the word indicating a spelling error? I wonder if she has autocorrect spelling turned off? Although the way she spells the word, autocorrect probably wouldn’t correct it, as it’s too far off.

I just tried on my iPhone, and lo and behold, “anabiotic” is actually a real word. Had to look up the definition because I’d never heard it before. But still, certainly not the word she was going for

I think “anabiotocs” is the word she uses.

Ooh, well in that case I agree that it’s definitely too far off the real word for autocorrect to fix 😬

Carlin's headed to another appointment today. She says in her stories that Gil (!!!) is going with them to the appointment to help them get to the bottom of things and get some answers.

She says that she's still having seizures but talks about them less b/c they provoke a lot of emotions for her (she gets emotional while recording) and it's really embarrassing when it happens in public. She'll go a few days without and think she might be in the clear and then is really discouraged when they return. She always tries to get Evan to help her get to the car before it happens, but it doesn't always happen. She said a couple times she's trying to figure out if it's something she'll just need to live with the rest of her life since they don't have answers.

She hasn't driven since May and Evan pipes in to say he's not sure if he'll trust her to drive even if she gets the all-clear. :my_dodgy:

I interpreted that kind of weird… like, he thought by him going, it was going to pressure the doctors to give them more answers? I guess at least he showed up to help them?

Right? I have to think he was going to be supportive, but the phrasing was for sure like: now that my dad's involved we'll get some answers.

I used to think I was a stellar speller...until spell check arrived!  It's taught me a lot.

Between spell check and aging my spelling has greatly diminished.

I'll give them a pass on having Dad there. They are both still quite young and this is a really scary situation. Maybe having another person listening to the medical people isn't such a bad idea. I think if I were in Carlin's situation, I might like having my mom or dad with me at a medical appointment.

I know the "daddy knows best" sounds awful, but a couple times I have had to go with my parents to appointments to get an answer. My mom is still young but has "brain fog" at doctor office and she doesn't understand well. My dad gets nervous. So I have to go. Maybe it's the same with Carvan.

I think they brought Gil in the hope that bringing an older person might lend some urgency in terms of getting answers. I do think they got answers at the cardiologist's. And because it's not dramatic, they didn't post about it. In sum, I believe that her results came back normal, and her heart isn't the cause of her episodes.

In the weekly video on Youtube that Evan just posted, he said that the cardiologist told them they had run all the tests related to her heart that they could and found no problems. He said they were going to focus on the neurologist now and get the multi-day eeg at the hospital but that things were pretty booked and scheduling far out. He said that they were thinking to discuss places like Mayo Clinic with the doctor and see if that might be an option.

I find them both very annoying but I have sympathy for them about this. I've been going through testing for a few years now about some troubling and painful symptoms. Each test is both painful and terrifying. Then I am told that they don't find anything wrong and they can't explain my symptoms.

Yeah, I knew the tests came back normal when there was no clickbait post about it. That's just how the Stew Crew rolls.

They also teased Izzy being pregnant. Of course they never got her fixed. Thank goodness it was a false alarm, but I feel for that poor dog, because Carlin hinted that they will breed her at a later date.

Flash alarm? How did that even happen?

I love baseball but I'm dreading the new season because the White Sox ownership is THE FUCKING WORST. I watched Dominican League Baseball (Lidom!) over the winter and fell in love with their joy, spirit, and exuberance. The broadcasts were in Spanish and my Spanish is pretty weak but I loved catching phrases and repeating them. Bombe! I'm sad about MLB and Commissioner Idiota's busywork rules. But I love baseball, always and forever.
I guess I don't have a point. Just bitching. Te amo mucho, Lidom!

      Happy International Women's Day!

Humanity may have some work to do, to improve gender equality, but I was glad to hear that France has taken an important step to protect healthcare for women (and people of other genders who can get pregnant).

Feeling ragey this morning. I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon in the hope of getting help for an ongoing injury. I went to a (different!!) doctor late last year who completely blew me off. He wouldn't do diagnostic testin, he refused to send me to a specialist, and he just told me to "take it easy" and "take ibuprofen." I'm hopeful for today's appointment but I'm also feeling a SEVERE amount of rage at that doctor from last year!

Well, the rash is back with a vengeance. It never completely cleared up. I saw the derm yesterday and they did another swab and yup, raging infection again, still? It is definitely strep skin infection. I am getting so damn tired and run down from this. Who the f would immagine being hospitalized freaking TWICE for a rash?

My niece is going to be a seat filler at this year's Academy Awards.  Seat fillers are asked to wear tuxedos regardless of sex/gender.  If you see a pretty young woman with very curly hair, it could be my niece.
