Per the Sun, the objection to Josh's Ashely Madison use was overruled because it shows a "moral failing" in Josh when he claims to be a family man, which is relevant to the case.

I like this judge.

Per the Sun:

Objections 11 and 12 involved striking information about the Ashley Madison cheating app scandal and porn addiction, with Josh Duggar's lawyer Justin Gelfand arguing that the infidelity had nothing to do with these crimes.

Back in 2015, Josh was discovered to be a member of the app following a data leak. He later admitted to infidelity.

Dustin Roberts argued that he wanted it considered because it proves "moral shortcomings" when Josh has claimed to be a family man.

The judge agreed with Gelfand. It was noted that addiction to porn is relevant to determining programs related to treatment while incarcerated and later on, but that there is nothing illegal about adult pornography.

Lawyer Carrie on TikTok confirmed that when Josh walked in she (Anna) gave him the I Love You sign. 🤮 Carrie also said that by her estimation, Josh has about 30 points, which equals about 110 months.

I wouldn't read too much into the seating arrangements of the siblings. I'm pretty sure they're all good at compartmentalizing things.

Not that I think the Sun is particularly reliable, but on their live blog they stated that not only were Joy, James and Jason not sitting with JB, Anna, etc., but that they were sitting in the back on the PROSECUTION’S side. Assuming this is true, that’s about as far away from Josh as they can get while still being in the room, and I’m sure they know what the two sides of the courtroom signify. For those reasons, I actually do read something into this.

JB is losing control of things from the looks of it, and while the idea of an all-out family feud doesn’t make me happy (because there are so many younger kids who don’t understand what’s happening but will still get caught up in it), that control freak finally losing his manipulative, abusive grip on that family makes me ecstatic!

I hope Josh is sitting in his cell shitting himself(with no Anna to clean it up).  I hope JB goes to hell for all his lack of concern for his daughters.  I hope Michelle overdoses, goes to treatment and divorces JB.

Feeling mean today.  Woke up this morning thinking justice will be served with a cold plate of indifference from his family.

For too long, White Christian Supremacists have been getting slaps on the wrist because they are "good Christians." I really hope I live long enough where this is not longer the case.

I actually don’t think that’s mean. Not even a little bit. Best thing for Michelle is something along the lines of exactly what you described.

I'll expect some sort of Duggar family statement, which should be interesting.

Quote

Joy had been sitting in the galley, but when they began to discuss Josh’s crimes against her when she was five years old, she got up and left the courtroom. She later returned to the courtroom looking upset. The Ashley’s reporter stated that, while Joy was gone, James and Jason looked distraught for her.

Per the Ashleys.

Where are her fucking parents? She needs a mum to follow her to the toilet and hold her while she cries, or a father to give her hug and not sit in support of her molester.

My heart breaks so bad for her, and I'm so impressed by her strength for sitting there and going back.

But these depictions of her, just make me break and rage against JB & M.

I’m sure any sympathetic family generally tries to sit right behind the defendant, but aside from that, I don’t think there is any significance to which side spectators sit on. It isn’t like a wedding.

Agreed. When I read that I wanted to cry for her. To have to step away and be "distraught" alone just makes this all the more ugly to me. I know they said Jason & James looked worried, and if so they get "points" but why didn't either of them follow her to comfort her? Why did she have to step away alone.

Alone. To deal with what your brother did to you as a child & your parents ignored.

I can't get past the Alone part.

I don't think that Boob has as much influence over the family like he had when the money was rolling in from 19 Kids and Counting. There might be a chance that Boob is going to shun some members of the family once he finds out that they didn't tow the line regarding their opinion of Josh. The whole family is collapsing like cheap scaffolding!

Also in that 7 years ( what?! has it really been that long??) the family make-up changed dramatically. Only 3 of his kids were married, two of them very recently. The vast majority were still at home firmly under his thumb. And a bunch of them were still little kids. Now 11! of them are married, mostly with their own kids, and spouses who will have their backs and opinions of their own. At home, even within an oppressive structure,  a bunch of teens and young adults are going to naturally be at least a little more varied in opinions  than a pack of children.  I think JB would be struggling to retain control even if this hadn’t all imploded.

Poor Joy. But more points for snappy dresser J’guy.

Maybe she wanted to be alone to call Austin or Jill.

Dammit. That's what I get for a quick read - especially when I want something to be true. The judge did say porn addiction is relevant for determining treatment but nothing about sentencing. Dammit. Dammit. Dammit.

Me either. I wonder if she went to call Austin and that’s why her brothers didn’t go with her. Poor Joy, my heart bleeds for her.

This is not accurate. The prosecution tried to argue that the Ashley Madison stuff shows Josh is not the moral guy he claims to be.

However, the defense said it’s not relevant because adultery and so-called addiction to (consenting adult) porn is not a crime.

The judge formally agreed with the defense that being into adult porn is not a crime and therefore should have no bearing on criminal sentencing.

I don’t doubt that the judge agrees that Josh is the biggest hypocrite ever, but he seems to be carefully sticking to the law so that it is harder for Josh’s lawyers to appeal his decisions.

One thing we all need to remember is Joy does not have and likely never did have a mother/daughter relationship with Michelle that most have had with a parent/mom. Jill was her mom and Jill now has her own family with DD. Does anyone know where the D’s are seated in the courtroom?
