(CW&CSA) Josh & Anna 52: Sweeping Crackers for a Lower Sentence

It’s bullshit to say he helped support her 9 children. Almost all of the kids were grown and/or married when Josh gave them money. He was giving money to her to support 3 minor kids at most.

One thing we all need to remember is Joy does not have and likely never did have a mother/daughter relationship with Michelle that most have had with a parent/mom. Jill was her mom and Jill now has her own family with DD. Does anyone know where the D’s are seated in the courtroom?

Are they even there? I saw they were but then nothing about them again so I assumed it was a mistake

I can't get over a parent sitting in a room, not noticing/ignoring one of their kids getting upset.  JB could have gone and tried to comfort her, he's in that room, ignoring her and ignoring 2 of his younger sons (also getting upset).  He owes all 3 of them far more than he owes Josh.

She's alone despite the fact that her father is in the same room as her.

@SassyPants No Ds.  Anna is with JB, her brother David and his wife Hannah (of the Rebers and bail house).  Joy is in the back with Jason and James.  Those 3 are the only Duggarlings in attendance.  Anna is the only inlaw. Austin is also not there.

Possession was dismissed WITHOUT prejudice, leaving the door open for future charges. That is interesting.

Did we know that? I didn't.

This was expected. He cannot legally be sentenced to both possession and receiving, so the lesser charge is dropped. At least this is my understanding, I'm not a legal person at all.

This is not accurate. The prosecution tried to argue that the Ashley Madison stuff shows Josh is not the moral guy he claims to be.

However, the defense said it’s not relevant because adultery and so-called addiction to (consenting adult) porn is not a crime.

The judge formally agreed with the defense that being into adult porn is not a crime and therefore should have no bearing on criminal sentencing.

I don’t doubt that the judge agrees that Josh is the biggest hypocrite ever, but he seems to be carefully sticking to the law so that it is harder for Josh’s lawyers to appeal his decisions.

We know. It has already been pointed out that I didn't read clearly/all the way through.

I hope Joy gets connected to a support group to help her process all of this so she can see she isn’t alone, she is part of a sisterhood of survivors and we have her back.

I know my child sexual support group has been a godsend.

From my fingers to Rufus' ears:

I want a tell-all book/ interview with Josh's sisters as well as the remaining brothers.  An in-depth expose of life under JB and J'chelle. What it was like to have to forgive and ignore the hurt Josh caused.  Insight from his brothers on how stunted their and their sisters lives were.  Details of all the crazy rules.  A beat down of tyrant control freak JB - who kept all the money they helped earn. Details of J'chelle's pill habit to help her keep sweet.

I want the veil ripped off and the whole Duggar 'pure, Christian, wholesome, normal family' mythos exploded.  Burn it down. Burn it all down

We’re about to sit down to dinner, and after all this waiting (and thinking I was lucky that it’s not my night to cook) still no announcement! I just know it’ll come out right after we sit down! And I get after my stepsons about devices at the table, so…no peeking possible either! Grrr! 🙈

I hope Jill and Derrick are getting ready to head out for a celebratory meal with (virgin, since she's pregnant) margaritas.

I kind of wonder if they are not there as a kind of statement on it's own - he's been convicted, he's going away, we've moved and grown and gone to therapy and he doesn't matter to us anymore.

Maybe it’s a “special circumstance”

But I do feel sorry for Denise. Her husband died of cancer and then her son dies in a motorcycle crash a few years later. Now she’s being roped into this bullshit and feels like she has to stick up for Josh because he gave her some money.

I wonder if JB is making future financial support for Mrs. Wilson contingent on her speaking up for Josh. It seems like his sleazy style to do something like that.

What’s crazy is that her son who died made a seemingly drunken video calling out JB for doing nothing to help Josh.

Agreed. When I read that I wanted to cry for her. To have to step away and be "distraught" alone just makes this all the more ugly to me. I know they said Jason & James looked worried, and if so they get "points" but why didn't either of them follow her to comfort her? Why did she have to step away alone.

Alone. To deal with what your brother did to you as a child & your parents ignored.

I can't get past the Alone part.

I’m guessing she went to the ladies room and locked herself in a stall until she was composed, splashed water on her face, then came back. Not everyone wants someone with them when they’re upset.

My bet is that he owed Clark money anyway for doing construction work.

She's saying all the "right" things in Christianese. Good father. Good husband. Accountable. Good Christian, doing what the bible says. "Shocked" at the gracious amount Josh was gonna' pay her and the biggie - he has a "servants heart".

It all just sounds entirely contrived without a drop of real soul or opinion in anything she has said.

Well Josh wasn’t arrested for a long time after the raid. So it may have started after the raid and before the charges. Because there was over a year between that time. Josh was the only one who knew what they would find on that computer.

Everything about these people is contrived. Their whole lifestyle and religious beliefs are so super shallow. They're all "say the right words, do the right things, wear the right clothes..." and they talk about their "heart" and their souls and their "passion for Christ" and all that bit, but it's all shallow.

Check off the right boxes on their list of rules, and you are "Christian" and get to go to heaven.

Everything they say is full of Christian buzzwords and has no depth or feeling at all. They say the right things because that's what they are supposed to say. They force themselves to pretend they feel forgiveness or whatever because that's what they are supposed to do. It's all appearance.

Appearance for God, but appearance nonetheless. They are trying to convince themselves in hopes of convincing God that they are worthy of heaven.

Duggar Data is saying we’re looking at 14-17.5 years given the enhancements. After steeling myself for less than 10 years I’m delighted with that.
