so we speculated that they were paid off.

If the money came from JB they were paid, not paid off.

I will not be calling him Pest. Pest sounds like a young sibling who won't stop annoying. Josh is a dangerous, abusive criminal. In my mind Pest minimizes his abhorrent actions.

Yes!  I have never thought of him as “Pest.”  Even when I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt about the molestation (he was a teen, it was all over clothes, the curiosity of the under-informed, etc.),  I thought “Pest” was too mild.  “Smuggar” works much better, but I think of him as, “the Slimeball.”

We don’t know, and we don’t even know for sure that it happened, do we? They bought a house despite being unemployed right when they became estranged from the Duggars, so we speculated that they were paid off.

No, we know they were paid.  They took JB to court to be paid for their work.  They commented (maybe on one of their YouTube videos?) that the amount they were awarded for their work on the show ended up being about/a little under minimum wage.  They definitely were compensated by JB in the end.

I have just picked up on an interesting point made by the defence regarding the thumb drive.

"He added that the government played disturbing images and videos that didn't come off the device but from a thumb drive from Washington, DC, from other cases"

I think that that was a straight up lie that they did not demonstrate any evidence for during the defense yesterday

Based on the jury's request, it appears that they are being thorough with the details, and probably won't return a verdict today.

Does anyone know how it works with the people who came to watch the trial? Are they allowed to sit there all day waiting for a verdict?

I don't know how it is with the people watching, but with the defendants and prosecution they usually go on about their day and then will receive a phone call when the jury reaches it verdict.  At least that's been my experience.

Is DC not an odd choice if it is a straight up lie?

I misread this TWICE that you spent $100 on cheesecake and thought "damn. Worth it" both times.

I was on a jury for a criminal (not federal) trial. We deliberated past the dinner hour and reached a verdict at around 10:30 pm. They called everyone back to courtroom, which took a bit of time. We didn't get released until nearly midnight. Oddly, we had to walk back to our cars in the parking garage unescorted, as the very upset family members of the guy we just pronounced guilty were also walking to their cars. Anyway, we went well past business hours. It was a Friday evening.

That would be the HQ of DHS.  So not really, I think they're implying planted evidence from other investigations.

And DD started law school too. It had to have been a payout. How did you secure a mortgage without any means of support? I’m assuming they used the money to buy the house cash.

I've been toilet hugging  and crying for 2 hours now. Am I the only one who feels-emotionaly, not intellectually- that a conviction for the monster will feel as though it is, over a half century later, myself, FINALLY being believed?

Does asking to rehear something mean there’s a hold out on the jury?

No, not at all.

Do you have a link to that? Thanks.

Ah I see, I was thinking of another connection entirely thank you.

I am in awe of how much they can learn from devices, the time stamps etc. Fascinating, especially when one struggles to set the clock on the oven 🤣

No, it's normal for the jury to ask to look over evidence. It means they are taking their job seriously and the evidence they asked for helps the prosecution

Tomorrow afternoon. Of course my work rescheduled a meeting to start about fifteen minutes before I need to leave. Sorry, not missing that shot.

They need to hurry up with the under 5s shots too. My two year old desperately wants to “go to doctor get shot vackine.”

And the jury needs to decide. The correct decision of course!
