I think it would be tough to engage an expert given the mountain of evidence.

Found her- I think.  No masters degree.  BA psychology.   Certified less than 3 years…..

Maybe JB was so worried about his sons finding porn on Google Maps because his little tech savvy perv actually did it?

I wonder how Anna feels knowing that he was accessing adult porn on his Iphone and her Covenant Eyes didn't prevent it.  It's not a stretch of the imagination that if he knew how to circumvent it on his Iphone he could circumvent it on his computer.

So, with the two charges, Receiving and then Possessing, could he be convicted on one and not the other?

I am confused by the logic:

He used Tor on his iphone for porn but not CSA.

The same setup that he used on his phone to hide his adult porn from his wife was on his computer, hiding CSA.

I *think* the defense is saying "he's into adult porn not CSA as evidenced by him hiding things on his phone" and *also* "he's not the kind of guy who knows how to hide things on a computer like that" but...but those two things can't work together?

I'm pretty I've seen a tabloid with a collection of people being caught on street view doing embarrassing things (including at least one couple having sex).

Don't make me be fair to her since I think she clearly is helping them by disingenuously throwing confusion at the jury, but most people don't get masters in CS.  Some of the best IT experts I know have degrees in other stuff or none at all but a hell of a lot of OTJ expertise.

OMG I just imagined that - sitting at my computer and then THAT started playing without my knowledge, understanding, or consent. My heart is racing and I'm sweating, just imagining the sheer panic it would cause.

I would immediately call 911

You are absolutely right!- most of the best tech people are self trained so I take back my snark on her lack of MS.    But I’m still wary.

Yes, my husband has an MBA but undergrad in Computer Science, he’s IT security and compliance. We’ve been following the technical aspects of the trial. I’m interested in the cross tomorrow of the defense expert. She wasn’t much of an expert compared to the prosecutor’s expert witness.

I think it is funny the mom (who owns the company) is not testifying.  Given how high profile this case is you would think she wants the publicity to bring in business OR she wants to be as far removed as possible?  Take your pick.

No way.  First there is no FBI in my country.  Second, I would find it threatening and terrifying if something like that was happening in real time. I would deem that an emergency for sure.

Which is why I'm surprised Josh was so dumb about everything. Did no one tell him how to wipe a hard drive? Or, you know, to shut the fuck up when the cops came?

Weren't the feds in plainclothes?  Maybe no time to wipe the drive.

As far as shutting tf up...I suspect he'll be PTSDing about that for a long time.  JB, the lawyers, and others have probably brought it up to him more than once, with some disdain.

What do you think Josh Duggar thinks about, while sitting through all this evidence? Is he monitoring Anna and others to see what they're taking in, so he can refine his perception control? Is he following the tech discussion to come up with things to tell his lawyer to ask about? Is he NOT following the tech disucssion because he clearly doesn't know enough about computers to cover his tracks? Is he in some separate la-la land where what he did isn't wrong? Does his idea of God enable him to believe that he is on the side of the righteous, because at least he doesn't kill unborn babies like liberals/Dems/the government? Is he actually thinking I am going to jail for a very long time...

Apologies if no one wants to enter the mind of this criminal, but it is so hard to understand.

Wow.  That is MUCH less than the very low bar I had set for their expert.  No prior law enforcement experience.  No training in the subject matter she’s testifying about.  Only three years out… 2 of them in Covid.  I totally understand why she couldn’t remember “command codes.”

The prosecutor has a tightrope tomorrow- exposing her as an unqualified expert talking out of her ass but not beating up on her.

I vote the bolded.  It is so beautifully put and really encapsulates the mind of a predator.  I believe they are ALWAYS strategizing (not saying they are always intelligent, but they are always thinking in those terms).

This is extremely common w/in that community. Who cares if already born people go without, as long as you don't mess with the "pre-born".

I'm not sure how I feel about Jill not testifying. I'd like to have her have the chance to tell what really happened in her own words. But, I also hate that it could be so difficult for her. She's been in therapy and is much better able to handle testifying than Joy, Jinger or Jessa. It would still be so hard. She might still be called, but unlikely.  Jessa probably would just gloss over it. Joy, from what we have seen in the pictures leaving court is very fragile. I'm hoping she will get some therapy now. No idea how Jinger is handling this. Not sure Jeremy is helpful.

We have no reason to believe that Jill would find it empowering or cathartic to testify.  She may be willing if needed but could be very relieved if she doesn’t need to.  Therefore, let’s hope for her sake that, if she would prefer not to, she won’t have to.

I think there are at least three things about this trial that are disturbing to the four Duggar victims.

1. This trial is bringing up repressed traumatic memories.  In Joy’s case it is possible that she did not consciously remember all the details because when it happened she was too young to process it.

2. This trial is showing the whole world their family in a bad light.  Jill and Jessa know that Bobye Holt’s testimony show that what they told Meghan Kelly was a very deliberately toned-down “half-truth.” So not only is Josh a monster, but their parents covered it up and Jill and Jessa collaborated.

3. This trial is bringing things that should be private about them into the public eye.  Not only do they have to hear what their brother did in downloading CSAM, but the whole world is hearing what he did to them.  I believe it was Jill (but it could have been Jessa) who during the Megan Kelly interview said that the scandal coming out again in 2016 was worse than the actual molestation because of the public attention.  Allowing for exaggeration, I do think that having their story out in public must feel terrible.

Maybe someday Jill and Joy will write a book (with a good ghostwriter) in which they share their account and their feelings and how they got through it all.  That might do them some good (as well as earn them some money).  I don’t think Jill testifying will.

I was just about to ask the room.....what are the chances you think the defense chose a female I.T. expert on purpose?
