I don't believe anyone in the computer industry uses the term "command codes" in that way. Is that legalese or someone trying to explain something technical badly?

That is someone with a bachelor in psychology and a minor in criminal justice and some IT selfstudy.

I wasnt swiping at you - just the expert!  What she's saying doesnt make any sense other than trying to make something really common and easy complicated.

That was my take also.  She is being paid to make it sound like Josh might have difficulty doing what he is accused of doing because it is very complicated.  The bit about the CSAM being downloaded/streamed in a way she thinks is unusual for CSAM is a suggestion for the conspiracy minded.

*You see folks, someone who hates Godly Conservatives hired a really advanced tech expert (who doesn’t really know about how CSAM is usually viewed by pedophiles) to set Josh Duggar up.  Yeah, the poor guy has sinned in the past but that doesn’t mean he did this.  It was a brilliant techie who used the router to sneak the CSAM material into Josh’s computer.  The people framing Josh and the FBI are in cahoots, that’s why the router was not checked.  Not enough evidence was gathered.  The possibility of a moving wifi connection (A McDonald’s on wheels, perhaps) that got close enough and a brilliant techie have to be considered.  Oh, and Josh just remembered that the customer who kept him late and out of the office on the days in question was driving a car with a pro-choice and a coexist sticker.  Really suspicious, you know?

Lovely so they are now quibbling about what csam was viewed. Honestly not a Greta sign for the defence

But even if they were using the computer to do things remotely, it would still be noticeable on a computer being used in a small space which the defence has proven Josh was in at the time of the downloads.  If you see your computer being used for csam, you call the police.

OMG I just imagined that - sitting at my computer and then THAT started playing without my knowledge, understanding, or consent. My heart is racing and I'm sweating, just imagining the sheer panic it would cause.

And how quickly I'd phone the police to report it and try to save the children involved

I am putting this under a spoiler as I find these comments implication upsetting and minimising. However, as reported:

Spoiler

MOVIE FILE STREAMED

Michelle Bush testified that one specific movie file of child sexual abuse material was streamed around 11.30am on May 16, 2019.

At 11.33am, it was deleted and added to the computer's trash. The trash folder record had an artifact with the name of the file and the index showed it was added to the trash at 11.33.50am.

She said it was deleted 29 seconds after it was streamed

REMOTE ACCESS

Michelle Bush said she couldn't rule out remote access to the viewing of the child sexual abuse material.

She said she would be able to get more clarity with a router and claimed there was forensic evidence that devices were connected via wifi.

Discussion about Macbook

Spoiler

MACBOOK

Next, Michelle Bush discussed the Macbook.

She said from November 2014 to November 2019, it had consistent activity.

November 12, 2019, was the last time it was accessed while it was in FBI custody.

She explained the Macbook had Bootcamp pre-installed to create a dual boot program like a partition that allows you to use both Mac and Windows on the device.

Bush said Bootcamp was never used on the Macbook

Count me in as someone who's confused by the complex way statement. "VLC media player" and "complex" are not two things that go together for me.

Seems to me like she's just trying to make things sound more complicated than they are.

I use VLC Media Player to watch trials. I download the various files from our case management system and watch through VLC. If I can do it, it ain't complex, unless I'm missing something.

I agree that this defense IT "expert" is just spewing bafflegab in an effort to confuse the jury.

Really hope that the prosecution can take Bush apart on cross-examination.

I'm not sure how I feel about Jill not testifying. I'd like to have her have the chance to tell what really happened in her own words. But, I also hate that it could be so difficult for her. She's been in therapy and is much better able to handle testifying than Joy, Jinger or Jessa. It would still be so hard. She might still be called, but unlikely.  Jessa probably would just gloss over it. Joy, from what we have seen in the pictures leaving court is very fragile. I'm hoping she will get some therapy now. No idea how Jinger is handling this. Not sure Jeremy is helpful.

In addition to the computer suddenly becoming possessed by the devil and downloading (and playing) horrific videos- whoever did this just HAPPENED to pick a computer owned by a perv?

Why the partition?  If I was gonna park myself and eat some French fries and frame someone for truly heinous crimes, you don’t bother with a partition, let alone one with a password smugs  can guess.

I need a better “whodoneit.”  This still come back to means, motive, and opportunity and only one fool fits the bill.

Defense is trying everything they can to create doubt and that investigators did a shabby job.  Unfortunately for the defense, the prosecution has done a great job of showing timeline, motive/history of perverted behaviour  (ie previous molestations) and keeping it clear for jury to follow.  Defense feels like its grasping at straws.  When you weigh the evidence you would be hard pressed to find "reasonable" doubt.

I've tried to keep up, but I may have missed it.  I seem to remember years ago on the show, that Josh had some sort of computer/film studio at home.  Wouldn't someone with that, have at least a better than average knowledge of how computers work?  Yes, it was a long time ago, but if he was interested back then, why not keep up on current technology.  So when it comes to computers, I would think he is dumb, but not so dumb.

As far as Anna's parents not being there, I'm hoping it's because they are helping take  care of those 7 kids.  Its possible that she is embarrassed to have her parents there to hear all of it.

Yes, there was an entire room in the TTH dedicated to computers & tech stuff. I don’t know if it’s still like that, though. Josh is definitely not ignorant when it comes to computers.

I fear Jessa would just stick to the same script JB handed her in the Megan Kelly interview.

JUST NOW

IPHONE

Michelle Bush then talked about the iPhone.

She said there was no child sexual abuse material in the thousands of photos and videos on it.

She said the iPhone version of Tor was used on the phone for adult porn.

So his Iphone was used to watch adult porn......  so much for Covenent Eyes

And also save yourself from this. This isn’t the sort of porn he could accidentally find, look at, think it looks a little too real, possibly illegal, but convince himself it’s not THAT bad and close out or go on.

The fact that Michele Bush is now going on and on about how there is nothing bad on the MacBook when that is not even the relevant device in question is just fucking infuriating. However, as one of those people with a real mental block when it comes to tech stuff, this tactic also makes it easier for me to tell that the defense is full of shit. Like, you could get me good and confused about code and remote access and routers, but even I know that the forensics of a Mac are irrelevant to a crime committed in a PC. I hope and pray the jury sees through this.

Joy is strong enough to be there.  Its highly unlikely that JB wants her there, unlike her brothers or Jessa, her family is self supporting without bank of dad.

She's choosing to be there for reasons of her own.

She's proving herself incredibly strong and I'd say the opposite of fragile right now.

I guess I worded that wrong. She's not fragile,  but she is very upset. I dont know if I could be there myself. There are unpleasant things in my past, but I dont have to hear about them in a public setting. Thank goodness.
