🤔

Such a Christian thing to say.  I recall whole swaths of the New Testament where Jesus was catty.  "Did you SEE that tunic Mary Magdelene was wearing?  I mean, honestly, WHITE?  Who does she think she is kidding?"  "Ooooh, Martha is getting FAAAAT!"  "And so I told Lazarus I did NOT raise you from the dead so you could go around looking like you have just been raised from the dead.  Get some sun, my man.  Tan those fabulous cheekbones!"  "Judas, that top with those sandals are an absolute BETRAYAL!"

Thousands of Democrats are changing their voter registration in Lauren Boebert’s district ahead of the primary

Quote

Thousands of voters have recently left the Democratic Party in Western Colorado — some as part of a grassroots effort to defeat Republican Congresswoman Lauren Boebert in her upcoming primary election.

Among them is Steven Hallenborg of Montrose.

“Well, I'm a lifelong Democrat, and now I'm unaffiliated,” he said. Because he changed his affiliation, he now can vote against Boebert in the June 28 Republican primary.

For the last few years, Colorado’s “open primary” system has allowed unaffiliated voters to participate in either party’s primary elections. That means voters like Hallenborg can weigh in on Boebert’s primary run — without actually joining the Republican Party.

“It's very unfortunate what's going on in this state. So, I mean, she has to go,” Hallenborg said in an interview at a Democratic event. Voters who oppose Boebert have one other option, Republican state Sen. Don Coram, in the June 28 primary.

In total, the Democratic Party’s voter rolls in the district shrunk by about 3,700 people, or about 2.7%, from February through May, according to an analysis by CPR News. At the same time, the district saw unusual growth in its unaffiliated voter population. One political scientist, Seth Masket, described the findings as “stunning.”

image.png.ec6e2569e1ca5a24a175be8ce4ec9548.png

It’s impossible to say how many of those switchers are hoping to influence the Boebert-Coram primary. Some may be displeased with the Democrats, or may have simply moved away. But reporters have heard from numerous liberal and unaffiliated voters in the district who want to dump Boebert.

And, statistically, something unusual is happening. No other Colorado district has seen a comparable change over the last few months; neither party has lost more than a few hundred voters in other areas in that time.

Any efforts to get Democrats to make the switch have effectively run their course — Monday, June 6 was the last day members of a party could change or drop their affiliation in order to participate in another party’s primary.

The party-switchers are just a small portion of the overall electorate. Even if all 3,600 former Democrats planned to vote for Coram, they would make up less than 1 percent of registered voters. For comparison, Boebert won her first primary by nearly 10,000 votes in 2020.

But the former Democrats aren't the only factor. They’ll be joining a population of nearly a quarter-million unaffiliated voters in the district, all of whom are free to vote in either the Democratic or Republican Primary.

The national attention on Boebert’s race could help to draw some of those hundreds of thousands of votes into the contest — and the outcome may well depend on whom they support.

“For unaffiliated voters who really are neutral between the parties, and there are some of those, they may simply decide the Republican Party is the more interesting contest right now,” said Masket, professor of political science and the director of the Center on American Politics at the University of Denver. ”For primaries — that is something that could have an effect.”

Boebert has grabbed nationwide attention over the last two years for carrying guns, making viral Twitter posts and heckling President Joe Biden over the deaths of service members in Afghanistan during the State of the Union.

That high profile has helped bring in donations and won the loyalty of many in the district’s Republican base. But Coram is counting on a folksy centrist message to win over those unaffiliated voters.

“They are unaffiliated because they are sick and tired of the antics of the far right, and the far left,” he said in an interview. His campaign stressed that he is focused on winning over undecided voters, not convincing Democrats to meddle in the primary.

In some ways, Coram is an ideal candidate, given his political experience and party connections, Masket said. But he added the candidate hasn’t stacked up the kinds of money and endorsements that often push challengers to victory.

Coram had raised only $89,000 by the end of March, compared to $4.4 million for Boebert. Boebert has been on the offense against Coram since early in the campaign, launching a series of attack ads and a website criticizing his record in the statehouse.

In an earlier statement from her campaign, Boebert said these unaffiliated voters shouldn’t have a say in the primary: “Members of various political parties should choose their nominees in a closed primary system."

The winner of the Republican primary will face the winner of the Democratic primary. Candidates Sol Sandoval, Adam Frisch and Alex Walker are running for the Democratic nomination.

Word is that Liz Cheney is going to be soundly defeated in the next election.  The polls all have her running behind and many Republican voters say they'll vote for anyone before they'll vote for Cheney again.  The theme the pollsters are using is that she's not representing Wyoming's interest anymore.  Of course, it's the big money that's trying to push her out for having the audacity to go after Trump.

She had to know this would happen and, I would assume, is still being advised by her dad and he's a political mastermind.  Does she have her eyes on the presidency?  Would she run as a third-party candidate?  I'd love to think she is on the committee because of high moral values but we know the Cheneys.  There is always thought given to political ramifications on every decision.  I'll be interested to see how this plays out.

I think she would have a reasonable shot as a third party candidate. As a career move - well the Republicans aren't going to pre-select a woman to run for the top spot, and the non-Q faction who are left would likely vote for her. So I'll be interested to see what she does - but if she and Kinzinger are pushed out then the party is in some serious trouble.

I just commented today to coworkers that it is a damn shame Kinzinger didn’t run for re-election. He may not have won but it’s really very sad that a guy with a moral compass is being forced out. I don’t agree with many of his platforms but I respect that he has really tried to be a voice of reason and values among the cesspool of chickenshits.

The full text of Psalm 109:

Quote

Plea for Judgment of False Accusers

To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.

109 Do not keep silent,
O God of my praise!
2 For the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of the deceitful
Have opened against me;
They have spoken against me with a lying tongue.
3 They have also surrounded me with words of hatred,
And fought against me without a cause.
4 In return for my love they are my accusers,
But I give myself to prayer.
5 Thus they have rewarded me evil for good,
And hatred for my love.

6 Set a wicked man over him,
And let an accuser stand at his right hand.
7 When he is judged, let him be found guilty,
And let his prayer become sin.
8 Let his days be few,
And let another take his office.
9 Let his children be fatherless,
And his wife a widow.
10 Let his children continually be vagabonds, and beg;
Let them seek their bread also from their desolate places.
11 Let the creditor seize all that he has,
And let strangers plunder his labor.
12 Let there be none to extend mercy to him,
Nor let there be any to favor his fatherless children.
13 Let his posterity be cut off,
And in the generation following let their name be blotted out.

14 Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered before the Lord,
And let not the sin of his mother be blotted out.
15 Let them be continually before the Lord,
That He may cut off the memory of them from the earth;
16 Because he did not remember to show mercy,
But persecuted the poor and needy man,
That he might even slay the broken in heart.
17 As he loved cursing, so let it come to him;
As he did not delight in blessing, so let it be far from him.
18 As he clothed himself with cursing as with his garment,
So let it enter his body like water,
And like oil into his bones.
19 Let it be to him like the garment which covers him,
And for a belt with which he girds himself continually.
20 Let this be the Lord’s reward to my accusers,
And to those who speak evil against my person.

21 But You, O God the Lord,
Deal with me for Your name’s sake;
Because Your mercy is good, deliver me.
22 For I am poor and needy,
And my heart is wounded within me.
23 I am gone like a shadow when it lengthens;
I am shaken off like a locust.
24 My knees are weak through fasting,
And my flesh is feeble from lack of fatness.
25 I also have become a reproach to them;
When they look at me, they shake their heads.

26 Help me, O Lord my God!
Oh, save me according to Your mercy,
27 That they may know that this is Your hand—
That You, Lord, have done it!
28 Let them curse, but You bless;
When they arise, let them be ashamed,
But let Your servant rejoice.
29 Let my accusers be clothed with shame,
And let them cover themselves with their own disgrace as with a mantle.

30 I will greatly praise the Lord with my mouth;
Yes, I will praise Him among the multitude.
31 For He shall stand at the right hand of the poor,
To save him from those who condemn him.

Some of you may recall when President Obama was the target of this prayer.

Boebert is threatening to sue the American Muckrakers PAC.

Rep. Lauren Boebert denies 'disgusting' allegations she had abortions, worked as escort

Quote

Only 13 days before Colorado's primary election, Colorado Congresswoman Lauren Boebert is fending off fresh attacks on her character.

Boebert is accused of having had two abortions and working as an escort when she was a young adult by American Muckrackers, the same political action committee that targeted incendiary North Carolina Congressman Madison Cawthorn over alleged misconduct.

Through a spokesman, Boebert denied the allegations.

"Partisan organizations putting out blatantly false and disgusting accusations won't stop me from advancing freedom and conservative values," Boebert said.

Boebert's lawyers with Maven Law Group submitted a letter to American Muckrackers Tuesday alleging that they could be liable for defamation in civil and criminal court.

Boebert (R-Silt) tweeted after the allegations were leaked: “Fact Check: Not true. Fake News. Four Pinocchios.”

In the replies to Boebert’s tweet, an account run by American Muckrackers said “if it’s fake news, then sue us” and alluded to additional information on the congresswoman that will be released.

The Twitter account, @FireBoebert, confirmed Wednesday that the PAC had received a “nasty letter” from Boebert’s legal council and claimed that it had been contacted by Fox News for comment about the letter before receiving it.

A press release from American Muckrackers alleged that Boebert, a staunch advocate of attempts to restrict abortion access, first had an abortion in Grand Junction in 2004 or 2005 when she was approximately 18 years old.

Boebert has previously stated that she dropped out of high school her senior year to work at McDonald’s and take care of her first child. Her first son was born in March 2005.

The American Muckrackers release said it is unclear if Boebert’s first alleged abortion had to do with clients it claimed she met on SugarDaddyMeet.com, a dating site that connects “generous” men with “attractive” women. According to the site, the service was founded in 2007.

Photos that appear to be of Boebert wearing lingerie are included in the full report, but the provenance of the images is unclear. American Muckrackers claimed that two of the photos were part of her profile on the dating website.

The group accused Boebert of having another abortion in 2009 at the Planned Parenthood clinic in Glenwood Springs because of “work with a SugarDaddyMeet.com client,” the report said.

American Muckrackers said it did not access Boebert’s medical records, speak with any medical professionals or “hack or receive any medical records or obtain any information in such a way that would violate any Colorado or U.S. laws.”

The group said that the tip came from a source who requested anonymity. It also claimed that the abortion allegations were verified with another source.

Boebert’s experience on SugarDaddyMeet.com allegedly linked her directly with Texas Sen. Ted Cruz. According to redacted messages from a source, Boebert met a client on the site in Aspen who was a member of the Koch family, which has supported conservative political causes and candidates for decades.

Through the client, Boebert was allegedly introduced to Cruz, who encouraged her to run for political office.

The “Cruz 20 for 20 Victory Fund” donated $136,250 to Boebert’s campaign in two separate donations in September 2020. American Muckrackers alleged that Boebert did not disclose a $70,500 contribution from Cruz, but a donation of that same amount is listed in filings from the PAC and Boebert’s campaign.

American Muckrackers also alleged that Boebert was involved in an ATV accident with a family member in Utah.

American Muckrackers was also behind attacks against Cawthorn, who lost a primary challenge in May. It released an explicit video featuring Cawthorn days before the election.

The organization is a nonprofit political action committee based in North Carolina. Since registering in April 2021, it has received more than $190,000 in contributions.

Boebert represents Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District, which includes Pueblo and most of the Western Slope. She has been endorsed by former President Donald Trump and has a built national reputation as a conservative firebrand since unseating incumbent Scott Tipton in June 2020.

Boebert faces a primary challenge from Montrose State Sen. Don Coram, who is campaigning on his political experience and moderate disposition.

Texas congressman blames women for ‘reduced’ standards in the military

Quote

Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) wants to stop women from being drafted into the military because the hundreds of thousands of women currently serving are driving the standards down, he said in a Tweet on Wednesday. Roy, who is running for re-election to represent Texas’ 21st district, tweeted that women volunteering in the military “cause the standards to be reduced.” He did not specify which standards he believed women who volunteer to serve in the military were lowering.

Roy, who has never served in the military, is far from the first lawmaker — or pundit — to claim without evidence that military standards are being reduced because women are joining the ranks. But his comments also stand in contrast with his own official biography, which says he is “committed to…supporting the men and women of the military.”

Yes, men and women.

Roy’s tweet came the same day 11 Republican senators penned a letter to Sen. Jack Reed (D-R.I.), chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, in opposition to registering women for the draft. The letter, written by Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Miss.), points out that an amendment that would include women in the draft was not approved for the 2022 National Defense Authorization Act. But it also urges Reed to not consider an amendment in the future.

As Task & Purpose’s Jeff Schogol pointed out last year, the draft debate often misses the point that the draft is not used and hasn’t been used since 1973. But while Hawley’s letter says that the women who have volunteered to join the military have “served honorably – often heroically,” Roy apparently believes they have degraded the military’s standards.

In his tweets on Wednesday, Roy took the opportunity to use the Army Combat Fitness Test as an example of standards being lowered. The test was originally meant to be gender-neutral but has since been changed to score soldiers by gender. Military Times reported on Wednesday that the Army may soon include gender-neutral standards by military occupational specialty, something others have argued for in regards to combat arms.

While the Army community has been split on the service’s new test, many have also agreed that standards that determine promotions and slots at schools had to be improved. As one Army colonel said last year: “We will promote, evaluate and build [Order of Merit Lists] off of the ACFT. Which is biased for men.”

That women who volunteer to serve in the military are reducing standards is simply not true. In fact, it’s quite insulting to the hundreds of thousands of women in the ranks now — more than 200,000 women were serving on active duty last year — and the millions of women veterans who have served honorably since the Revolutionary War.

But you don’t have to take it from me, take it from those who have served alongside the women Roy said “caused the standards to be reduced.”

“It’s absolutely insulting and disrespectful to every woman who served and died in Iraq and Afghanistan to have someone who wants to hold office call them weak when he never served a day in his life,” tweeted Marine veteran Thomas Burke.

Mike Jason, a retired Army colonel, called the tweet “unseemly.”

“Thinking of the amazing pilot, a woman, calm, cool and in charge, who swooped in with her MEDEVAC to pick up my wounded,” Jason said.

Women are regularly meeting and surpassing the same standards as their fellow male service members. Recent milestones include 100 women having completed the Army’s grueling Ranger School in March, the first woman completing Army Special Forces training and joining the Green Berets in July, and the first woman graduating Army Sniper School in November. And there are countless other women in the ranks who are serving honorably and meeting the exact same expectations as the men standing next to them.

And while people continue pointing fingers and making claims they cannot support, those women will still be in uniform doing their jobs — and doing them well.

Because not only is she a kickass Senator, but she was a kickass in the military. Chip Roy would be lucky to carry her purse. Not that she would allow it.

These branch trumpvidian fuck sticks can’t help themselves

Quote

U.S. Rep. Mary Miller immediately drew fierce backlash on social media and elsewhere at a Saturday night rally with former President Donald Trump when she credited him for the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade calling it a “victory for white life.”

“I want to thank you for the historic victory for white life in the Supreme Court yesterday,” Miller said, then raised her arms in an animated clap amid cheers from the crowd, which numbered in the thousands on a sweltering day in West Central Illinois.

But Miller’s campaign said Saturday night that the congresswoman misread prepared remarks at a rally that Trump held for her in the village of Mendon.

Hey, remember that passage in Brave New World where John the Savage tries to liberate the masses from the dependence on soma after Linda dies by throwing it out and then Helmholz and Bernard arrive and Helmholz happily jumps in to help then Bernard eventually gets into the fray and the people (I think they were Deltas but can't quite recall) all freaked out so their version of the riot police activated the system that pumped in soma in gas form while a soothing voice kept repeating words to calm them all down and eventually all the Deltas start hugging each other and crying and saying how much they loved each other?  Gohmert, you senile fucking fool, that was a fictional BOOK!  (Who am I kidding?  He didn't read the book.  He probably heard a thirdhand account of the movie while "Short People" was on the radio and came up with this craptastic idea.)

They are debating the repeal of DOMA / passage of Respect for Marriage Act today. The Republicans are, of course, going on about how the hysterical, radical left is going on about gay marriage being at risk when of course it isn't and they just want to do something unnecessary. If it's so unnecessary, why the fuck not pass it and take the wind out of the "radical left's" sails? I smell lying liars who lie!
