It's like the McSweeney's headline - Republicans believe underage girls are consenting adults, especially when the guy having sex with them is on their side. Adding to that - in Australia anyway, I understand it's also not illegal to edit/manipulate a non-sexual image of a child to create a pornographic image. I assume it's the same if you manipulate a pornographic image of an adult and make it look like a child is in it. 

Which is better than the alternative, I suppose.

One of my colleagues had a big issue with this with one of her developmentally delayed students. He was writing child erotica on school computers, because he was 17 and had all of the hormones but was mentally still a 9-year-old.

And no, he wasn't writing it about other delayed 17-year-olds; he couldn't relate to them. He was writing it about eight and nine-year-olds. Some of it also involved pre-pubescent cartoon/TV girls, and I believe drawings were also involved, but it was a few years ago so I don't remember exact details. I also don't know the resolve of it, unfortunately.

Finally made it through all the threads. I really wish I was surprised by this. I really do. Ever since it came out years ago that Josh molested four of his sisters and someone else and got no help or real punishment I've feared something like this would happen. Maybe had he gotten treatment when he was a teen then maybe things would have turned out differently. But he didn't. His parents' didn't and wouldn't get him help.

Do you think the way some people see a shiner and some don't could be a function of graphics settings of your devices? I saw the mugshot on my phone and on the laptop and the colors  appear dramatically different.

This is not going to be a popular view, but here goes. Josh is fully accountable for his crimes, his parents are accountable for putting their ministry before helping and protecting the children and Anna is accountable for putting her marriage fantasy above the safety of her children. I also hold all the married men in this family to some extent accountable. 
This is a patriarchal cult - they all know it and the in laws sign up to it. At no point has any of these men asserted their headship and said ‘actually I’m not comfortable with having my wife/sisters abuser as a groomsman. I’m not happy about having extended sleepovers/parties where an abuser is free to roam among children.’ Hell, Derick made a video thanking him .

 In 2019 the business was raided and computers seized. There will have been a warrant and the grounds for the warrant would have been on it. I fully expect Josh has been interviewed at least once about the findings on those computers. They all knew what the investigation was about. Only Derick decided to step away from the TV show and he made that clear it was about money and JB.

None of the others said ‘no, this stops here. ‘ They could have stopped endorsing the Duggar brand and stopped exposing their children . None did. They put easy money and the benefits of fame before decency and safety. Now they will scramble to portray themselves as victims and no doubt the humpers will fall for it. We’re always being told how hard working and self sufficient they are- well get on with it guys and stop hawking pictures of your kids.

I don't see the black eye (watching on my phone). He does look high IMO, which in addition to bright lighting makes his eyes look weird.

She's probably got other things to think about besides updating her IG bio but one of these days Anna might consider quietly deleting the happily married part here. It just strikes the wrong chord considering the happy husband is a child porn aficionado.

Regarding the phenomenon of Josh taking on the appearance of whomever he is photographed beside (as discussed close to the end of the previous thread): Part of it is due to the lighting causing the people photographed together to all look a certain way.

TBH it wouldn’t surprise me at all of Anna continued as normal. After my uncle was arrested and convicted, my aunt stayed with him. They’re still married, and she visits him in prison. And we’re not even anywhere close to fundie ?

Yeah expecting Anna to get divorced might be a bridge too far but  I have to think that if your spouse is in prison for watching children getting abused the "happily" part in happily married is just a lie.

I think it is illegal here.  Checked with my barrister brother, and it's a big no.

Realistically I think the only way Anna will leave him is if 1) She manages to reject or override any of these beliefs that have been instilled 2) if she's able to access resources.

Lack of confidence in being able to make it plus the internalised scripts about staying and trying to work it through are powerful forces. She will need to be convicted that leaving would be better than staying, and I don't know if she's going to get there.  The one thing we can say is that hopefully her siblings would help her, and the public would fundraise for her, so she'd have 2) covered.

And as you say, people choose to stay in situations even when they aren't isolated or believe they're going to hell if they don't.

I find it interesting that according to another poster Big Sandy information/livestream was scrubbed and that Gil Bates's sermon sounded like a circle the wagons/persecution speech.

 I am wondering how much, if any, information his siblings knew about this beforehand. JB & M knowing doesn't shock me but if they knew, would they have gone to Big Sandy?

Derek is the best thing that ever happened to Jill. Even Justin marrying Claire and moving to Texas is looking like a good move. Can't believe I just wrote that.

This is all so sad and just more evidence on how JB & M failed all their children in the name of "religion".

Everyone in the Democratic Party is not a paragon of virtue - clearly not. But, in this current moment, and as far as we know, they aren't being enabled by the party structures in the same way.

Uuf I was behind of a couple of hours yesterday, and it took me all the morning and more to catch back, all I can say is that I am shocked, sad, and pissed that the accusations are once again against minor children. It is especially sad since this isn't his first time, it was known in the family at least from Jb/M how big those accusations are (I'm referring to the past accusation, not the current one) if only they had acted then a lot of this could have been avoided. Now I'm wondering what Jb and Meech will do, will they support, money-wise, their pedo son in fear that he may cause even more damage (who knows what they are still hiding) or will they try to leave him alone in hoping to save some of the family money/earning incoming? I think the show is the major money maker for them coupling with the interviews and speaking gigs that come from that, so they could try to rebrand once again in hopes to save the gravy train or try to hide for a couple of years and then come back with a special and start a new series again with most of the kids married...what do you all think? I can't decide which is more probably

Honestly, Anna won’t leave Josh. Why would she? Either he’s convicted and goes away for a long time, which will keep him away from their kids and she won’t have to deal with him anyway; or he’s not convicted and she’ll be fully convinced of his innocence.
