I'm willing to bet this could have all been prevented had Josh received real help instead of Jesus Jail.  Instead, Jim Bob and Michelle just swept the whole thing under the rug, right back to his first offenses.  And now you have six, soon to be 7 kids who will get the fallout.  The whole thing is horrible.  

I agree with the posters who believe Jim Bob and Michelle should be held accountable to some extent.  Their refusal to face reality and get Josh real psychological help when he was a teenager plays a huge role in these events.  There is absolutely no way that can be overlooked and there is NO way they can spin this into anything remotely plausible.  It's now officially past the point of no return.          

Now is the time for TLC and Discovery Plus to permanently sever ties with this fundie shitshow.  I hope people boycott hard this time around.  The Duggars have more than outlived their usefulness on TV.     I just hope we don't see any GoFundMes for them. 

And I'm callling it-M7s name-Mercy Faith.   My bet was either Melissa (or Melyssa) Faith before this.

This topic is really bringing back bad memories. To make a long story short, a few years ago I received news that a good friend of mine from college died. The friend who notified me also sent me a news article link where I learned that he was found dead during an arrest warrant for CP. Death was deemed suicide. I've spent a long time with conflicted feelings about my reaction to this news. At first I felt sorry for him because we were good friends. However, the more I thought about how awful his crimes were, the less sorry I felt. The fact that he was an elementary school teacher made it worse. At first I felt like a horrible person for not being sorry anymore, but I also wonder why I should feel sorry for someone like him. It took me some time to realize the person I thought I knew wasn't the same as who he really was.

I took it to mean "We haven't heard what excuse he's come up with yet and don't want to 100% sever ties with the Duggar name until the verdict comes down just in case he manages to slither free of the charges because money, but we condemn what he's accused of."
