I am sick. I cannot wrap my head around the fact that Jim Bob and Michelle put boundaries concerning Jill coming around, but hey, lets just leave Josh be around everyone! How dare they. How dare Anna stay with him and continue to produce more children. I hope this is the end of it all. The show, the attention on babies and weddings in the media, them being influencers, etc. I hope that mother fucker is convicted and locked the hell up.

I really wonder if this explains the Justin and Jed weddings earlier this spring. Justin was so so so young, and Jed's engagement was super short. I bet they've known this was coming down the pipeline. Or at least JB knew and encouraged the grooms strongly to move up the timeline.

I wonder if they knew what the charge would be though. He was being investigated, but did Josh just say it was business related or something? I mean if they fucking knew what it was since the raid and Anna and JB/M continued to allow him to be near their children, that is the worst fucking thing ever.

I don't think they'd know back then. That's just when it was found.

Federal cases tend to proceed a lot more quickly, but that usually is because they really have the groundwork well laid out and it's basically close to airtight when they move in.

They may also have delayed to watch him for something else?

But I doubt they had any idea of the date until he was arrested (or if he were really given brief warning to turn himself in as some tabloids rumored, possibly then or at least enough to know it was tied to the raid back in 2019)

He was going in on worrying what is going to happen to your Christian testimony, what people are saying about you on the internet, even mentioned King David being betrayed by his own son. There's no way his mind wasn't on this situation.

It would be wild if he were actually up to business shenanigans and genuinely did think that and possibly would have said that, and then in the end he not only gets these (obviously more sobering) charges but then they do dig into his business more and find things there also.

 With the molestation when he was a teen, I was like "OK, he's been screwed up by his upbringing, and he was still pretty much a child, so it's awful but I can see getting him treatment and therapy so he might earn a second chance rather than proclaiming him a pedophile for life" - but he didn't get treatment or therapy (and neither did his victims, until Jill did recently), the transgression was hidden, nothing was done to keep him away from vulnerable children, and this is what has come of it. I can have sympathy for a screwed up 14 year old, but not for a still screwed up 33 year old, especially since that meant he had over 15 years to get help and therapy. It's not like they didn't know this was an issue. 

But nope, just go help build a building somewhere and pray a bit and he's ALLLLL BETTER. Nope. He wasn't. He's a pedophile. He can rot.

Looking at the legal documents, it seems like the investigation was part of a long running operation into CSE. I wouldn’t not be surprised if the Duggars knew exactly why the computers were seized.

we had a similar operation in the UK- it’s been going for years and it cooperates with the investigations in US and other places- many are caught out by credit card payments going to porn sites or as a result of analysis of others computers.

And also they were taught that they need to "forgive" which, in fundiespeak, means "rugsweep." In real life you can choose to forgive someone who hurt you while also putting up a boundary and saying that you won't live with that person, or spend time with them unsupervised, or whatever. In fundie circles it's all one or the other - either you forgive and everything is exactly like it was before, or else you put up boundaries because you're refusing to forgive. No balanced middle ground. So based on their upbringing, the only choice they had was to say that they forgave him and it was fine and it didn't matter anymore.

I am not asking this to play Devil’s advocate, it is a genuine question, do you think Anna knows what these images depict and why this is so heinous? I feel uncertain as to what her understanding of this is as she has been so sheltered and I’m unsure whether anyone will inform her of everything that is going on. I think, speculation I know, that she may have been given a very whitewashed version of what has happened. I also think that she will want to believe Josh if he claims that it is a misunderstanding, something he downloaded accidentally. She has probably been “kept in the dark” and may only be in possession of a sanitised version of what happened.

It's probably a whole dark web sting. They should round up the pervs and burn them.

Until the discussion blew up yesterday, I had not realized that the car lot had been permanently shut down. I knew that it was shut down after the raid, but would have expected the Duggars would resume business after a short hiatus. 

Homeland security had to have had probable cause to raid the car lot. Was the probable cause something to do with child sexual abuse, and the discovery of the images was the goal? Or was the discovery of the images an unanticipated result of an investigation into something else? If this is the case, there may be more charges to come. 

I would be a lot happier if it had been incompetent money laundering.

IDK about Anna but if Josh knew that he had child porn on his computers and further found out that they got seized, wouldn't he have known it was just a matter of time straight away during the original raid?

I agree.  I feel nothing but sympathy for Jill and Jessa having to do that, they weren't in a place to be able to process anything at that point.  JB and Michelle pushing them in front of the cameras?  Special place in hell for those two.

Every single minor in that family needs to be evaluated by a professional therapist to see if abuse has occurred.  His children, sisters, nieces and nephews, Anna's nieces and nephews, anyone who has stayed at the TTH.

I read that JB and M were giving a speech this week about raising Godly children there.  Is that true?  If so did they already speak or was it cancelled.

What is horrific about CP is the fact that, a lot of the time, the Feds will never be able to actually find out who the abused kids in the CP actually are, when the abuse happened or even what country it occurred. A couple of months ago there was a news story about trying to find kids in CP from years earlier. It’s so horrifying and you never know if they were ever rescued. Some of these kids are are in more than one photo or video. They are basically marketed to pieces of garbage. (I can’t put what I want to really call them because I am never sure what language is allowed.)

I could see Josh telling Anna, after the raid, he accidentally downloaded something he thought was work related but it was spam of child porn. Anna wants to believe the best of him and probably just needs a stupid reason to believe he is telling the truth.
