This kind of revolting porn is out there, and presumably there are sickos who consume it. Does Homeland Security target and arrest everyone who downloads this gross stuff? Is that their job (I honestly don't know much about what they do)? Do you think they targeted the Duggars in some way, as opposed to focusing on other pedos? Or did Josh download more/worse images, and that attracted the feds attention? Could he have been involved in peddling it?

The older boys ('Siah and up) plus Austin, Derrick,Ben  and Jeremy probably want to kick his ass. And they would be right in doing so. 

He might be safer in jail...

I hate to say this but when Mr. No told me that Josh was arrested yesterday I had to say I was not surprised.   Not at the specific charges but just the simple fact that he would mess up eventually.   Spending months in Jesus Jail would not address his issues as he is a very sick individual, it was foolish for anyone to think it would and it would be a matter of time he would mess up again.  

Now I hope that Anna will rethink this business of staying with him.   I get that she probably wanted to believe that he had learned his lesson earlier, that he was fixed, that she thought in her own words they could "go back to the way things were before" but if anything, she should get it through her head right now that there is no chance of that and there never was.  I know this is not what she signed up for but she's got a responsibility to 7 kids to kick Josh to the curb once and for all.

I wish they could, but like speeding tickets just because others were speeding and didn't get caught doesn't mean you aren't guilty when they catch you doing 20 over.  

If he was peddling it he's had had charges for distribution.

Usually people are caught up in a ring or they are able to bust users of a specific site/group.

I believe part of the goal is to provide accountability so as to prevent people from offending. To stop it being a secret and to engage with professional help so as to keep others safe.

It seems likely he's guilty given his history. I was just wondering if this is how child porn users are generally arrested, or if it's different bc he's a Duggar.

I worry that this family is so far gone that Michelle and Jim Bob will never believe he is guilty . I feel like a moment of doubt that creeps into their withered hearts and minds will be construed as a failure in faith.  I also feel sad that the children (including the adults ones) will never be free to say what they really feel about the charges . It will be "circle the wagons" time in the Duggar household and we all saw how well that worked the last time.

As for Anna I feel bad that she has no education or skills to support her soon to be 7 children, but if she stays married to him at this point she gets what she deserves. His kids, however, deserve much better, Maybe one of Michelle's siblings would be will ing to take them in to provide a "better home life and Christian upbringing" much like they did for Tyler or whatever his name is......and yes that is sarcasm

Summer of 2019. The Duggars made a statement saying their home wasn’t raided and as far as they knew nobody in their family was under investigation. The 1st part may be true, the second certainly isn’t.

I am reminded of The Village Church (Matt Chandler) supporting a pedophile missionary whose wife left him, reported him to authorities, and started divorce proceedings when she found child porn on his laptop (while they were overseas, iirc). The elders put her under “church discipline” because she refused to put herself under their authority (like in financial matters) and refused to consider their reconciliation process to “try to save the marriage.” One elder’s email was leaked where he talked about her resistance and how they should try to force her under their care.

That’s the mindset of the community Anna lives in, most likely.

When Josh was a teen, Jim Bob brought him to talk to a local cop to scare him straight. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that cop was later arrested for this same thing. Add that to the ever-growing list of parenting failures of JB & Michelle.

Remember being highly amused at TFDavid Waller’s habit of tackling his new brother-in-law Josh and mud-wrestling him?  I do, also remember wondering if Josh secretly liked it. The answer to that seems clear now  

Locally, in 2019 a long-time radio personality was convicted of CP & worse and sentenced to 5 years.  He was 79 years old at the time, which probably accounts for the brevity.  Just for reference.

I think they believe he's guilty, just like with his sisters, but I do think people in that cult don't see it as that big a deal.  Which is pretty terrifying.  Remember Jill saying 2 out of 3 families (or 1 out of 3) have childhood incest and molestation?  I know it's common throughout society but I honestly don't think they have the stigma on it that we do, because I don't think they see it as as bad as we do.

That is what I think Derek's biggest gift to Jill was....showing her it was that bad, she wasn't crazy - her folks were - and getting her help.

Therapy for pedophilia is much more than just "talking about it." I'm not saying formal therapy always (or usually) successful, but "just talking about it" is not an evidence-based form of therapy for this diagnosis.
