And neither would Anna leave. Of course, she now has seven kids to worry about. While there are ways to help her, IF she wanted to leave, it's an extremely difficult road with that load of kids. I have some hope that Daniel, Suzanna, and Rebekah will work out a way to help her leave, but she still has to want to leave. It's just like being addicted to drugs, alcohol, gambling, or anything else...you have to want the help. Maybe she wants it this time. Maybe this will be the straw that breaks her. But, I'm guessing it won't be.

Don't forget about cutting off their thumbs. Really they should be rendered thoroughly physically incapable of laying a single hand on a child or consuming any such materials. It's the only way.

Certainly interesting that this came down soon after Jana seems to finally be in a courtship. I wonder if she knew something was coming to take Josh away from all his young relatives, so she doesn't have to stay around to protect them anymore.

EDIT: I should have been clearer that I'm not saying it's a good thing or that she's actually helped by staying around. She's still a part of propping up the messed up, abusive cult. I just wonder if it goes through her mind (because I cannot begin to understand what these people are thinking.)

Reason Homeland Security is involved in the case, is because terrorist groups (International and domestic) use porn to either recruit or communicate with members, through embedded messages in the pictures. Also a lot of the Child Porn come from Eastern Europe. About 10 years ago I had a neighbor who was busted on Child Porn charges, Feds raided his house in the early morning hours and he has never been seen or heard from since, house sold about year late and he is in federal prison for 20+ yrs. He was an attorney and well respected in the community. Fed take this very seriously and usually when they arrest someone they have enough on them to put them away plus usually the person involved takes a plea deal and it never goes to trial because they don't want all the dirty laundry exposed, especially when there are a family & minor children present. 

If he is released on bail he will not be able to live with any child under the age of 18 nor have contact with any if he does his ass will go back to jail. So where is he going go?

I think it took so long to arrest him, because the Feds want a strong case against Josh. They know that JB would hire lawyers to try to get Josh off on a technicality.

I believe the maximum sentence is 20 years.  BUT, more charges could still be filed.  

Federal requires convicts to serve 85% of their time.

Part of me wonders if moving to his parents house was because DHS/CPS insisted on at least the kids sleeping in a different house and not being around him unsupervised. That would not surprise me in the least (I work in that field).

I think there the mandatory minimum is 20 years.

I know that it's really easy to say fuck Josh and hope he rots in prison. I agree, but I also want to mention that everyone is innocent until proven guilty and it's kind of disturbing to read things like "who cares if a child molester is murdered in prison". There are ways an innocent person, usually someone poor or brown, can end up doing time for a crime they didn't commit.

Obviously, that isn't likely the case here, and I will never defend a person who preys on a vulnerable population, but it's really hard for me to see every single prosecution as a victory for justice. Life experience has taught me that your sin doesn't always find you out, but neither does the truth set you free. I don't speak in absolutes about this anymore.

Fuck Josh, though. It's pretty obvious what happened and I hope bond is denied. I also hope his children are unharmed.

 

P.S. In my experience, the feds will only prosecute for something like this if their case is absolutely solid. Any sign of weakness in the prosecutorial evidence and they'll decline to press charges. This is why their conviction rate is >95%, and why you are in deep shit once you are actually arrested on federal charges.

He can also still face prosecution on the state level, even if the federal case is dropped, which, as I mentioned, is extremely unlikely at this point.
