I wish they’d actually had the balls to do real satire. They poked fun at generic prosperity gospel teaching and pastors, but they never touched their own camp with anything other than the lightest humor. There was a lot of good satire that could be had about Driscoll and Tchjividian back in the day, MacArthur’s massive palaces, especially CJ Mahaney getting protection left and right from his cronies. Imagine if they’d used their giant platform to draw attention to that. Instead they posted half a dozen hysterical articles about that Cuties movie and pedophiles and then invited Doug Wilson on their podcast.

In fact there's evidence that as a young man Mandela may have joined the communist party. Angela Davis at one time was a communist. Eldridge Cleaver was a Marxist until he went bad and became a Mormon. Fred Hampton was a communist. IMO, that was no reason for the FBI to shoot him while he was sleeping in his own bed, but Geoff would disagree with me on that.

The means justify the ends. If the end of apartheid was brought about through anything other than pure Christian means it could never be good, no matter how awful apartheid was. DPIAT took the same approach to child abuse: no matter how terrible it was, unless there was actual criminal abuse it would be worse in the long run for another family/government/the church to step into a place where it didn’t belong and disrupt a father’s authority. Good outcomes can never be brought about by unholy means. 

 

Unless it’s a country’s economy built off of chattel slavery.

I just found something on YouTube that I never would have imagined I’d find. Apparently in concert with his Y2K book, Julian Gregori, né Geoffrey Botkin, Information Technology Specialist for Fourth Wave Sciences, put out a documentary about the end of the world as we know it. He makes his first appearance about 13 minutes in.

The whole 30 minute video seems like a big advertisement for Julian’s book. I Googled the phone number that you call to order it, and found a bunch of creationist videos (https://www.faithfacts.org/evolution-or-creation/evolution-vs-creation) and a video about how TSA 800 was actually shot down by someone. It's amazing how he can say so many words and sound like he has some impressive point but it's all pretty basic and obvious.

Well, well, well - according to the WaPo, not only has Ginni Thomas been watching Geoff's YT videos, she's telling others to watch them, as seen in her 2020 emails to AZ lawmakers:

Botkin did not respond to a message seeking comment.

I think Geoff was wily enough to not show up at J6 in person, but I'm gobsmacked that his video got out in the world and came to the attention of Ginni Thomas.

...and Geoff needs to add "constitutional scholar" to his resume!

Good question.

She converted to Catholicism on marrying Clarence but before that AFAIK Ginni Thomas was never involved with the VF or ATI crowds or similar groups back in the day. I know we've talked about the 6 or less degrees of separation among many of our snarkees but this connection is a puzzle -- maybe it's a q-convergence?
