I read most of that "Intended for Pleasure" book by Ed Wheat the Duggars recommend and was pleasantly surprised. He encourages men just as much as women to make sure everyone is having a pleasurable experience and gives explicit instructions on how to do so. It gave me some hope that some of these girls aren't just getting the jackrabbit treatment.

@singsingsing, oh absolutely I agree. I think married couples or anyone avoiding anal sex because of concerns about health and comfort is perfectly reasonable. I just think an act of violence like domestic violence should horrify a pastor more than group "shennanigans." @lizzybee, yes there are definitley fundies who do believe the husband should consider the wives pleasure as well. The Song of Solomon would be referenced from time to time to emphasize mutual pleasure.

I can't speak for every fundie, but the sect that I was raised in... everything was pretty much off limits except missionary sex. It was encouraged for a married couple to have sex even without trying to get pregnant, and birth control wasn't wrong. It was highly encouraged to have the children that you could afford (except one family believed more Duggar style, and had 8 children, which was 8 too many.. they're now divorced and it was an absolute mess) but anyway, oral and toys were extremely off limits, and put in the same camp as pornography, masturbation, etc. 

I should also say that while they did encourage women to be there for their husbands, the same was expected of the men, and everyone was encouraged to have a good time.

The room and colours seem a little mismatched?

If they went to all that trouble to redecorate and build cupboards, they should have nixed the carpet. It does not go with the rest, and drags the whole effect down.

I get that the greige colours are very in right now (at least here in Norway), but the room either needs more light or the colour scheme is slightly off. The room just looks dark and flat. I wonder if the wall paint is just a few nuances wrong? And with all the muted colours in the decor and knick-knack it looks faintly dirty?

IDK. Maybe just my Scandinavian boho white everything plants colours light coordinated schemes Pinterest Insta - whorish hobby that peeks through.

This is true. Closet Catholic coming out here to say that sex in the Catholic Church is viewed as a means of completing the bond of sacramental marriage. This is why it's also completely fine to enjoy sex with your spouse when pregnancy is not possible (e.g., when you aren't ovulating, post-menopause, etc.) The point of sex is to complete the marital bond and that you be open to the possibility that you may create life through intercourse. NFP is intended to create a conversation between the couple about family planning. Sex toys, oral sex, etc., are fine as long as you and your partner are engaging in the communion of the sexual relationship to enhance your sacramental marital bond. Masturbation is a singular activity and therefore doesn't usually enhance the bond (of course, there are times that this could be challenged (i.e., extended illness of one spouse, etc.) but that is a time when you are supposed to sacrifice your pleasure for whatever your spouse needs...again, the point being that sexual acts prop up the marriage and enhance the bond.) Now, actual practice is obviously vastly different, both in Catholic and other marriages, but the idea is that you talk to your partner about sex, children, etc., and stay connected to each other through the sex and the other parts of your marriage.

She did! In one of the comments she actually said that they all move furniture around often and the massage chair wound up in the girls' room.

She also commented a series of enthusiastic praises and defenses of her parents that I figured would be hot gossip on here by now!

I went to look through the comments on Jana's Instagram to see what @Dominionatrix was talking about. To sum up a few things:

1) She knows her parents are the BEST in the world no matter what anyone else says

2) The remodel won't be on the show, which is why she showed videos and pictures on her Instagram

3) Someone suggested an internship with Joanna Gaines and she said that would be a dream and called Joanna one of her heroes

4) Anna commented, "you seriously could go into full time remodeling - I know you would have a lot of happy clients!"

Nothing groundbreaking, just a few things I found somewhat interesting.

I feel like Jana getting insta gives us a clearer answer as to why she isn't married yet. She's basically a less witty version of Jessa that's more skilled with her hands (and less lazy). That coupled with praises to Jim Bob and Michelle apparently don't outweigh the smug, self-righteousness.

The more I think about the video, the more she bugged me, too. @Kelsey  I liked her better before, as well.

I think that it was the Joanna Gaines style narration she was doing while showing her parents the room.  Describing how they have tons of storage under the bed, etc.  It was like she was channeling Joanna and it really irritated me.

It's fun when I can move another Duggar into the annoying column.  ✔️

@Kelsey @Satan'sFortress I was thinking about this recently as well. I think it was easier to like Jana before Instagram because she was a bit of a mystery in some ways, and consequently, sort of a blank canvas--we could project our own hopes for her. It was easy to imagine her quietly questioning her family, maybe thinking differently. It was easy to imagine that after so many years, she might be fed up and open to a way out. But with Instagram, we see her beliefs and her praise of her parents directly, so it bursts that little bubble of hope. 

(In case this isn't obvious--when I say we, I don't mean to speak for anyone else--just a general we!!)

I don’t think it’s about the Duggar children having icky thoughts about their parents in the bedroom. That’s just us. I mean obviously JB at least knew something was going to happen but the idea that someone just changes one of your most private rooms feels wrong. In that case it doesn’t matter if it’s children-parents/ sibling-sibling/ friend-friend. If they asked M and JB what they would like in colours and style and then showed them some ideas before remodelling I wouldn’t mind at all.

I agree. The love for Jana and the praise for her mediocre talents (at best) are always surprising.

I'm not one to cheer for a Duggar courtship, but I might celebrate Jana's.  I tend to the think the show will finally die after a Jana wedding.

Didn't they just recently say Jana was not in a relationship (but Jessa was taking applications for her ?)? Pickles has a habit of reporting news several weeks/months after the rest of the fundie snark internet sphere has gotten hold of it and claiming it's exclusive breaking news (lol), so maybe her amazing scoop is that Jana is, wait for it....... still single.

She also has a habit of reporting exclusive scoops that are totally unverifiable so she has plausible deniability. For example, John David's supposed hospitalization. Nobody can possibly confirm or deny that unless the Duggars themselves choose to, and even if they denied it, she could just claim they're lying. I think she went on to claim that John and Abbie's honeymoon in Finland proved her info was accurate because the same source told her about that. How could that possibly be proof of anything? She didn't share that info before it came out publicly, so we just have to take her word for it.

If she says Jana's courting and nothing comes of it, she can always claim that the courtship was broken and they swept it under the rug. She's like the Nostradamus of fundies.

(Note: in the interest of fairness, Pickles does occasionally report information that turns out to be true. She's a real character, and she's not at all reliable, but she does now and then get fed accurate information by people who are actually in the know. So... ?‍♀️)

My personal guess: I've heard several rumours about Jana having had a broken courtship. My guess is that someone Pickles thinks is credible contacted her with one of these rumours and this is her scoop. But that's just my Pickles Prediction. My predictions tend to be wrong. Like, to the point that I think I may be the opposite of a psychic.

And I'm apparently making up for my lack of posting lately by typing out an entire novel now, so The End.

I agree - while I don't believe Jana is this trapped Duggar princess that needs to be set free or is holding out for Mr. Right~, I do think that once she's married, the show will die. She's the last big ticket item, since majority of viewers don't care about the boys. There will be a surge of interest once the little girls are older (well, really just Josie), but once Jana is married, there's not really much interest anymore, especially once she has a baby.
