Sam is cute. Jill again has to be in the picture. :pb_rollseyes: and that hashtag. LMAO

I take eleventy thousand photos of my kids, and granted I don't have social media but if I did, I would choose to share photos of them doing super cute things, animated photos, not just random ones declaring how adorable they are. This is the kind of stuff that makes people sick of you Jill

They may not be poor but are super controlling!  Never eating anything he didn't like?  I hate how controlling people (like my MIL) can be about food.  Just let your kids try something if they want (and you can afford it).

Many people just don't try things outside of what their families eat, so they don't get anything their grandparents didn't eat and so on.  Also then it becomes hard to cook things, because you never learned how to cook that thing, even that obvious thing.  It took 20 years of marriage for my parents to figure out how to cook fish and chicken, because their parents didn't do it.  Its easier now with the internet (you can find recipes from almost anywhere, though we had a hard time with Mongolia between recipes and ingredients) but you have to want to.

We try really hard to branch out so our kid will be interested in other cultures, but you have to put active effort into it or we would only ever eat French, Mexican, Italian, Indian, and "American."  Just because they are our favorites.  It can be surprising how little people have branched out, until you really look at yourself and see how little you probably do too, again unless your really trying.

I live in South Africa so we have some weird foods. My 4yo isn't particularly picky but in make him eat everything at least once. My MIL cooked my husband offal/tripe which makes me gag to no end, but I let my kid taste it cos who knows if he'll like it or not. He loved it (more gagging from me).

Last night i made black bean salad and venison meatballs, and he was wary of the beans but he ended up asking for more.

Exposure to cultural and new foods is so important, otherwise you end up thinking tater tots are as good as it gets

Once I ditched the picky-eating X, I was finally able to cook more ethnic foods (the X is a REALLY white boy). My kids had to try everything once. They couldn't just look at it and say they didn't like it. Surprisingly it was never a fight with them at all, and now they're probably more adventurous eaters than I am. The one who was (relatively speaking) the pickiest eater now eats squid, calamari, and sushi. #2 son, well, if I make black beans and rice, it's best to not get between him and the food, he'll knock your ass over to chow down. Daughter is the same, she called me to ask how to make "mommy rice" (allegedly the best rice in the world). The grandgirls were on the picky side when we got them, but that changed relatively quickly and without any problems. Whatever Poppa ate, they'd eat. Grandson is his father's son...if it ain't moving, it's fair game. He has some food intolerances though so his diet is a bit limited.

Me? Well, as soon as I have a decent kitchen again, and it cools off from the surface of the sun, there is a sauerbraten and potato dumpling meal in the offing.

Sushi was one of the worst experiences of my adult life. Fancy seafood restaurant, I order a sushi plate for the first time, and on the first bite I realized I made a big mistake! The evening ended with me stealing fries off my kids plate, me with a handbag full of sushi wrapped in serviettes and a husband who almost dies laughing at me while enjoying his regular fish and rice

I love sushi! I like the vegetarian ones the best and there are some of the fish one I find a bit icky, but yum! Out tiny town actually have a pretty good sushi restaurant. It is Miniways first choice if we’re eating out.

Sorry you had a bad experience! It sounds like you jumped in the deep end though. If you had started with a few veggie ones and worked your way up to the seafood it might have gone differently. :)

My mum tried sushi for the first time last year. She’s 63. She said it was better then expected but not a favourite.

GryffindorDisappointment and her husband went to see the Incredibles 2, as well. BTW, my son-in-law is, thankfully, a Slytherin.

Those fiddleheads look good. I'd definitely try those!

I have a friend, and dont get me wrong I think she's a great person, but holy hell her child. She's almost two and will only eat French fries, chicken nuggets, marsh mellows, m&ms, cookies, and drink juice (but like koolaid). And they just let her! She was at my house and I offered to make lunch for the kids and she said no she won't eat it and proceeded to give her a plate of marshmallows and cookies for LUNCH! The world also revolves around this kid in every other way too so I'm not sure why I was shocked but it just seems like they're setting her up for failure by letting her eat like that.

That's not a good diet at all for such a young kiddie!!! My son pushed me when he was around 2 and I pushed right back. He gets a small packet of sweets about twice a week and fruits and yogurt as snacks. Oats for breakfast and veggies and protein for dinner.

As I type this I get sad for the duggar kids and the rod kids. Let them all come live with me!!!

@RidiculousFundies I agree my son is only 10 months but he decided one day he only wanted to eat yogurt melts for a few days so I made him a meal I knew he likes and offered it about once an hour until he decided he was hungry enough fir real food (I still nursed like normal though). Behold, 9 hours later he ate it just fine and he now eats whatever I give him again (provided it's not rice or chicken he hates those for some reason).

If you are ever feeling adventurous again and want to take another stab at sushi (I know, long shot!), it might be worth trying it at a sushi restaurant and not a more broad seafood place.   Good sushi requires some skills and experience to prepare that less specialized chefs may not have.  Let's just say I love sushi but would be VERY hesitant to eat it at a place that also served french fries!!!

1. I don’t see anything weird about the movie they picked.

2. I can’t knock that latest Sam post. Yeah she’s in the first photo, but I actually think it’s funnier that way because you can see she was literally halfway through curling her hair. It was an overall improvement on what she usually posts, but I doubt we’ll get anything like it again for a few more posts. She seems to struggle with consistency.

3. I have certain foods I avoid or won’t try, but I’m mostly open to trying new foods. Which reminds me that I need to start looking for new recipes online from cuisines I haven’t tried preparing yet.

From comments on her movie picture, followers were *shocked* that there was swearing ((go to hell//I’ll be damned)) and drinking in the movie. And honestly, with out having seen it, I don’t think that should be in Pixar movie. At least not the words. Adults drinking responsibly is fine, but I don’t think “go to hell” is really necessary. People also weren’t fond of the short. They said it was inappropriate and too much for kids. My guess is it just went over their heads. Overall, the conservatives on her page did NOT approve of this movie.

we know they have DVD players in their car that the boys watch. We have seen live video of them eating in their car well Izzy watches Curious George. plus I'm guessing they have seen things like paw patrol because Izzy has a shit ton of clothes with those characters on them.

to be fair, our LO has a tun of cloths with the characters on it, and we have never seen it.  He just really likes puppies

Ok. I guess me and Mr.Fluffer just put a little more... *adult* in our anniversaries?

I would normally agree with wanting an *adult* date night, but dh & I LOVE animated movies. We watch them all the time, even go see them in the theater occasionally.  Our kids are 20 & 18, our 20 year old has picked up on the love of these files while the 18 year old was never a fan, even as a child.

Overall, I'd call that post is an improvement for Jill's social media skills. Too bad she's celebrating a marriage to D-wreck.

At the risk of being a gigantic party pooper, I gotta say that the first Incredibles movie is quite in line with the libertarian views that the Dullards seem to like, based on shilling the Tuttle Twins books. If the second movie has feminism and more adult elements, then I'm certainly interested! I'm definitely most intrigued by the fact that the franchises are about superheroes. Is that a subject that normally offends fundies? It just seems... I don't know, magical, or unbiblical, or not-constantly-shitting-on-our-sinful-sinful-human-selves, or something.

Let me be clear that I love Disney overall and forgive the company for a lot, so my being critical of The Incredibles is very much exceptional for me, personally.

I knew a kid once who said that the Incredibles would be a good movie "if it didn't have blasphemy in it," meaning that a character says "oh my god," so I'm glad to hear that the sequel upholds the tradition.

It does seem like a very pro feminist movie for them.  I'm curious what they thought.

We go to kids movies for date nights, we like kid movies.

Oooo!!!  I love sauerbraten!  I'm fixin' to make it myself soon, now that our fav German spot closed.  That place was legit!   How long do you let yours brine?  My recipie I got out of the old Time collection of  cookbooks by country.  That one says 7 days.   I'm going to make the potato pancakes though.  Kartoffo...something.  it's a big ol' German word!

Growing up it was like 24 hours...so that's the way I do it. I don't have a recipe for it, I run on memory. TBH, I rarely use recipes. The only things I use them for are things like pizza dough and tortillas because the proportions are important. Everything else is "seat of the pants". When my sister-in-law stayed with us, I drove her bonkers. She'd call me at work and ask me what I wanted her to take out for dinner. Well, I never had a clue what was for dinner until I got home. I can throw together a meal in an hour starting with opening the fridge/freezer. I guess I'm doing something right, Mr. Xtian still raves about my cooking.

True story of how Mr. Xtian and I ended up together:

we were flirting/dating for a couple of months and it was time (if you know what I mean). I sent the kids to my mother's for the weekend. I fixed Mr. Xtian a nice dinner and well... Anyway, I had given him a key to my place because he was going to go back to his place and then come back to my place while I was running errands. Ok, so I pick my kids up at my mother's (she lived across the street) and go run errands. When I come home, there's a pile of shit I had never seen before in the middle of my living room floor. As I'm trying to figure this out, the door opens and there's Mr. Xtian carrying these huge ass speakers. We got married 11 months later.

I’m confused how it can be childish and inappropriate! Was it scatological humor?

I'm sure that in-your-face fundies have heard "go to hell" quite often...but weren't expecting to pay for it.

I seriously don't understand why they do that? Isn't it considered rude? What is the issue with walking with the groomsman.... he's just an escort

I suppose that Joy was okay with this- a pattern had been set. If she didn't want Derrick to do this she could have skipped having her sister mom as a bridesmaid.

My son taught me how to order and eat sushi and sashimi when he was 8 years old. I found out his dad (my ex) would take him to eat it all the time. I was really lucky he was never picky except for a brief moment when he hated spaghetti sauce. He ate over at my mom's a lot because I worked. Her motto was try it once and if you don't like it you don't have to eat it. Apparently he liked everything.

He is now 24 and will eat everything without hesitation---- even spaghetti sauce.  We occasionally splurge on sushi together.

I knew plenty of people who would make sure they always had frozen chicken nuggets on hand. I even went to a Communion party that had a delicious make your own pasta combo bar. My son was thrilled. The Communion girl? Her parents ran out and got her fast food.

My oldest, at about the same age, pretty much quit eating. I'd manage to get a glass of milk in her and a few other things (think mac & cheese). I mean, she went about 6 months of not eating enough to keep a flea alive. Pediatrician said not to worry about it. She eventually started eating again and the kid was a human garbage disposal. So...when I had her brother, I expected pretty much the same thing...he's 31 and I'm STILL waiting for him to stop eating. This was the kid that screamed bloody murder the minute the umbilical cord was cut and didn't shut up until his belly was full. I nursed him and he was still screaming. So, I gave him a bottle of formula (back in the dark ages they only had the 4oz bottles). I fell asleep with him in my lap and woke up when he startled. The bottle was EMPTY. Sat him up to burp him and he let loose with a grown man beer burp...imagine that sound coming out of a brand new, 7lb baby boy. When he was about 6 months old, I went out with a friend and we stopped at Burger King for lunch. To keep him occupied I gave him french fries thinking he'd suck on them and throw them on the floor. Well, the fries kept disappearing...I looked on the floor and nope, no fries. So, I went and got him a plain burger, shredded it up into little pieces and the kid INHALED it! Yeah, baby food didn't last for long with him.

tl;dr: kids are weird about food.

I had to try a couple of times before cooking it just right. It's an aquired taste, that for sure. I really enjoyed eating it. All I had to do was go to a wooded area in my hometown and pick them.

That looks and sounds delicious :)
