Anyone else here thinking we should just call them the Shillards? Normally, I hate the trend of combining multiple names into one...but here, it would fit.

Here's my interpretation of Derick on the blanket in the nasty white t-shirt with the 351 month sign:

Jill, you love the boys much more than you love me. You've been posting more pictures of Israel and Sam and not as many as meeee (read in a whining voice)

Jill: Okay (with a little exasperation, but he is my headship, so I must obey) Sweetheart, I just finished Sam's 11 month picture. Why don't you lay here on the blanket and I'll take and post a picture of you, as I did with Sam.

Then, you get the picture

Are there any bible verses about filthy armpits that Derick can quote for his Twitter?

The only one that I can think of (and it isn't Biblical) is:

May the fleas of a thousand camels infest your armpits and may your arms be too short to scratch.

No really, Sam. Steal his nose. Make him Voldemort.

I’m not sure what’s a bigger insult...calling Voldemort Derick or calling Derick Voldemort?

At least Voldemort doesn’t care about your gender identity or sexual orientation as long as you’re a pure blood? But at least Derick doesn’t kill people?

That’s amazing. Where is that from?

My college roommate used to say it... I'm not sure where she got it from. I just checked, possibly Johnny Carson, although several versions exist.

Voldemort killed people because he could. He was personally powerful and smart enough that he could kill easily with limited consequence to himself (with the exception of the Potters). But even Voldemort let people live/kept his killings to a minimum when he didn’t have the power or prestige to get away with it.

When we look at people like Derick and fundamentalists, a good question is not “What have they done?” but rather “What would they do if they could?”. If given Voldemort’s power and prestige, WOULD they run things like Voldemort? Sure. They’d target different people (I disagree that V’s ideology is any better, he just had a different target. If we go with that giving him props for not being anti-LGBTQ, we have to give the Duggars props for not being open segregationists), but they absolutely would install a system that creates second and even third class citizens if they could. Do I think fundies would kill people? It’s in the Bible, and many of them love both the death penalty and those hateful verses.

The real difference is that Voldemort was a remarkable wizard with talent, intelligence, and charisma. Derick has none of that. Is it better for evil people to be capable or bumbling? In a country approaching an idiocracy, I’m not sure I know anymore. Voldemort calculated his moves, tightly controlled his damage, and had a vested interest in maintaining order. You never know what idiots will do in their stupidity. So maybe it’s just a personal preference as to whether you prefer your evil ordered or chaotic.

Nope, I still think that someone who has killed a bunch of people is worse than someone who hasn't! You can speculate about what fundies would do if they had the power, but I would still prefer to be around one than to be around someone who has actually killed already. I mean, Voldemort is literally modeled after Hitler!

(And honestly, as awful as Derick is, I really doubt he would kill people the way Voldemort did. I feel ridiculous even typing that, since that's about the lowest bar you can use!)

The one area where I prefer Voldemort over Derick is that Voldemort at least has the decency not to actually exist. :pb_lol:

@Georgiana I was joking about giving Voldemort props but damn don’t make my thoughts go to such deep dark places this late at night.

@Rachel333 of course Derick could never kill the way Voldemort did. He’s a total squib. He also has zero charisma and couldn’t get a following if he pooped gold. He’d basically be a Death Eater who spouts of Voldemort’s views and hide behind a computer until Voldemort takes over the ministry to avoid dealing with people who show their disagreement.

Derick would totally support Umbridge too.

You mean Betsy DeVos? Yeah, I bet he loves her because she’s doing her best to destroy heathen public education

Nah. He's Filch - a Squib, skulking around, looking for people doing (him) wrong, and running to tattle to Dumbledore (Twitter), while Mrs. Norris (Jill) is in cahoots with watching/reporting duties too.

And Cathy bought a used tablecloth to make a skirt - buy used and save the difference AND repurpose an item. YAY

Isn’t that the Bridesmaid dress they wore at Jill’s wedding? Did she get her own, or borrow a sister's dress? It actually looks like a nice going to church dress. I don’t mind Cathy’s skirt, either. Nice and colourful.

Cathy's skirt looks like something they could have picked up for her in Central America. I like it. They all look nice, actually, too bad the adults are all hateful bigots.

I love baseball but I'm dreading the new season because the White Sox ownership is THE FUCKING WORST. I watched Dominican League Baseball (Lidom!) over the winter and fell in love with their joy, spirit, and exuberance. The broadcasts were in Spanish and my Spanish is pretty weak but I loved catching phrases and repeating them. Bombe! I'm sad about MLB and Commissioner Idiota's busywork rules. But I love baseball, always and forever.
I guess I don't have a point. Just bitching. Te amo mucho, Lidom!

      Happy International Women's Day!

Humanity may have some work to do, to improve gender equality, but I was glad to hear that France has taken an important step to protect healthcare for women (and people of other genders who can get pregnant).

Feeling ragey this morning. I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon in the hope of getting help for an ongoing injury. I went to a (different!!) doctor late last year who completely blew me off. He wouldn't do diagnostic testin, he refused to send me to a specialist, and he just told me to "take it easy" and "take ibuprofen." I'm hopeful for today's appointment but I'm also feeling a SEVERE amount of rage at that doctor from last year!

Well, the rash is back with a vengeance. It never completely cleared up. I saw the derm yesterday and they did another swab and yup, raging infection again, still? It is definitely strep skin infection. I am getting so damn tired and run down from this. Who the f would immagine being hospitalized freaking TWICE for a rash?

My niece is going to be a seat filler at this year's Academy Awards.  Seat fillers are asked to wear tuxedos regardless of sex/gender.  If you see a pretty young woman with very curly hair, it could be my niece.

It’s not supposed to be mosquito season right now but I still appear to have been bitten twice on the side of my foot. Bastards. I know I shouldn’t scratch but it’s so tempting… 😑
