I agree about Michelle. For all their sprouting about what women are allowed to do. Cooking, cleaning and taking care of the kids. Michelle never does any of that. She doesn't cook, she doesn't clean, she doesn't teach the kids, or take care of them. Who knows when was the last time she actually parented a child. But she gives tons and tons of interviews about all about it. I think Michelle wanted attention. Fame. She found the perfect partner in JB who wanted the same thing and also the thrill of marrying a cheerleader.  I think they looked for ways to find fame. But having tons of kids and joining Gothard is really the only one that stuck. She got the attention she craved by having baby after baby. Attention while she was pregnant and afterwards and soon newspapers and TLC came calling.  She got so much more money, a nice house, trips, and more attention then she could ever want. She loved it.

100%.

JB and Michelle were the only ones that benefited from this show. They gained the fame they always desired and became rich.

In my opinion, they ruined the privacy of their children thereby some of their careers. They’ve likely harmed the family dynamic because I am sure there will be kids suing each other over money one day or some writing tell-all’s. I think Derick’s meltdown is only the beginning. Many family members and a lot of money at stake doesn’t mix well.

Hell, Milo Yiannopolis had a book deal until it came out he was pro pedophilia. They put up with all his BS up until then.

Well JIm Bob always did want to name one of the girls Julie or Julia and never happened heck she seemed to let the kids have more say on the names then her own husband.

He also really wanted a Jim Bob Jr. but honestly, Rufus Bless Michelle for not allowing that name to be carried on.

Julia would have been a lovely choice.

Headlines like these are only going to piss off JB more and make me feel sad for any phone calls she’s about to get from Michelle.6FB635DB-99F5-4BB9-98D4-EDC8F4DD4E4D.thumb.jpeg.82c78364ad5608388f241a27a8721af3.jpeg

I feel sad that this amount of leg (or any amount to be honest) gets respond like this from newspapers

Pick me up on your way. I don't like her either, but she and those babies deserve better.

Can you wait this Finn to join you? Let's free Jill.

He basically does have a jr in a few kids. James as Josh's middle name the twins both have Robert and then of course James himself. seriously this couple sucked at giving their kids names they are all way to similar.

this is the same girl who blurred her knees on national TV so of course a magazine is going to jump on that one.

I get why it happened. I, however, am in a camp that you should be able to walk around naked without this kind of reaction.

ETA: I know it is naive but I still think the world would be a better place if it worked that way. In my weird, hippy, Finnish, subcultural community it mainly works that way so I might be weird

@Ms. Squishels

I get the impression that Jill was never very close to her siblings in her age range. It always appeared that her siblings didn't reciprocate her exuberance for socializing with them. Her younger siblings always treated her like she was their mom.

You think Jana is included in that? They are best sisters.

I ask because I remember her giving Joy advice that people will comment on marriage taking your time etc but that's the way its supposed to be. Joy was eating that info up. She seems to truly respect Jill.

TL;DR - Jim Bob and Michelle are vile excuses for human beings regardless of who is in charge

I agree with much of what you're saying, but knowing exactly who's in charge is important when attempting to dismantle a fortress.

Know why Duggars bounced back after Josh's scandal in a way that is meant to be added in record books? Because God helped them? Maybe lol That's surely how they see it.

Or because taking down Josh was a proxy attack on Jim Bob and patriarchy.

The women were able to re group as the victims they are. The family was able to pick up the parts that were left intact after the explosion, re-brand and move forward.

For those who truly are against this family due to their pull on society, innocent minds and their powers within politics, need to know exactly who is (re)fueling this train. Despite scandal, the Duggars are the premiere name in white southern Fundiedom. And they are that way through strategy, not coincidence.

Just saying.

Edited: Decided to stop speculating about why Derick took his latest approach and where Dillards are going from here . Too many possibilities; not enough info.

I agree but still, he maintains that he really wanted a Jim Bob Jr. And in Jill’s birth episode they find a stuffed animal in the closet and joke that they got it at an aquarium and it’s the only namesake he was allowed to name Jim Bob. They’re weird.

I don’t think this is true. There are many pastors that have a much bigger reach (eg Charles Stanley, James Dobson, Charles Colson, the Bob Jones machine) than the Duggars. Outside of ATI, the Duggars were mostly a freak show attraction, although I don’t JB and Michelle got the memo. I think they thought that their family size was itself a ministry, and the unwashed heathens would be convinced of the truth of ATI Jesus by looking at the godly counternances of the many Duggar children. If this is your view, then there’s no need to engage in the more mundane aspects of ministry empire building (eg publishing, physical church planting, building institutions) because the masses are being blessed by just coming into contact with you. Now that they’ve been banned from speaking at homeschool conventions and the like, what little influence they had is decreasing.

I did a quick search on Amazon and found the two hard cover editions selling for 738.83 and 859.82. What the actual fuck?

Probably the same yahoos who try to sell their beanie babies for 5857829374 dollars, because they "heard" they'd be collectors' items/scarce one day.

Also - if Derick were truly money-savvy, he'd challenge Josh to a cage fight on live national teevee. THAT would draw the viewers. lol

Ugh I remember that. Jill said also something along the lines of "Your friends will be sad and maybe angry because you won't be spending time with them anymore, but you need to keep in mind that you have your husband now and that he is the most important person and the only one you need" blablabla. Made me angry honestly.

This does piss me off and is also sad. The social isolation to me,, is a form of emotional abuse. Cut the woman off from friends and family making her totally dependent on her husband. It explains why Jill became cling wrap after Derick went off to work at Walmart. She had nothing in her life out side of DerTwit.

Jordyn was not even 1 when she was replaced as Michelle's favourite and for her to be told to go to Jana was horrible. When she got her head stuck in a railing it was Jessa, her buddy she sought comfort in and Jackson wanted Jana when he got lost at the airport.

Which episode was this? I think I'd like to look it up on YouTube or amazon.

I think it was after Josie's ordeal in Little Rock. Jordyn wanted something in the kitchen but wasn't old enough to articulate it. Michelle asked Jana in the kitchen to help Jordyn with whatever she was wanting.

I googled that series having never heard of it (I am a Youth Librarian so I know my kids books) and this is what I found on the website

Quote

Each year, hundreds of millions of children are spoon-fed false history, bad economics, and logical fallacies. Your child is not immune.

Well-meaning parents have long desired a way to inoculate their children against this trend to help them really grasp the importance of freedom and free markets—the pillars of peace and prosperity that create abundance and social harmony in our world.

These parents—just like you—have had nowhere to turn, and no literature to provide their child… until now!

The solution is here: The Tuttle Twins books.

Sounds right out of InfoWars

Ok, these are insane. I think the best is the tagline for the Ayn Rand inspired Circus one

Quote

A circus beset by socialism!

Won't someone please think of the children Circus????

you can see it here: https://tuttletwins.com/

there's pics of some pages of this book (and the other books if anyone's interested) here. I'm not so au fait with US laws that I know what legislation exactly they're talking about, but the sample pages sure smell like political agenda to me. Definitely not bedtime reading material for a 3 year old anyway, but then I'm not really surprised. Dillards and inappropriate seem to go hand in hand.

Even the author says they are for school aged children, which Izzy is not.

I am sure Derick would find something age appropriate like the Pigeon books to be evidence of the socialist nanny state. Regulations are prohibiting an american pigeon from driving the bus!

This Salon article provides a good summary of the Tuttle Twins:

https://www.salon.com/2017/11/29/a-kids-book-wants-to-teach-your-children-to-love-ayn-rands-atlas-shrugged/

It’s basically a retelling of Atlas Shrugged for kids. From the Dullards, this is a bit ironic, since Ayn Rand’s atheism is foundational to her philosophy, but I wouldn’t expect them to know that. I always find it peculiar how most fundies claim to be advocates of the libertarian free market but them complain about industries they don’t like, such as liquor stores, pornography, and Hollywood movies. You can’t have it both ways.

Someone with experience at TLC/Discovery messaged Pickles about what the contract probably looked like.

I'm still baffled on how the Dillards are receiving any type of sympathy here, if what that person says is true. Pickles is being sanctimonious about it because deep down I think she wants to be the Duggar's friend and Savior but if you sign a contract giving your money to JB...that's on you. Not having health insurance because you left your job is on you too.

Had a look at those books and they are definitely not for 3 year olds. I can imagine a suit and tie wearing Derick reading about laws and principles of economy to Israel who is bored out of his mind, and then Derick becoming irritated because his toddler son cannot sit still and listen...

Woa, those books sound crazy-daisy. I find that kids aren't really into being whacked over the head with dogma disguised as twee adventure stories, so I'm dubious that Jill's two-year-old has really turned into Tuttle Fanboy #1.
