That first hashtag took me a while (she’s perfect) but Allie seems like a little fashionista. I wonder if she helps pick out her outfits or if it’s all Alyssa still?

i also think Alyssa genuinely adores being able to do this girly stuff with her daughters and indulge them on a personal level. I think (and hope) she may go until she gets a boy, and then stop because she doesn’t want to take too much attention away from those mini-mes. But what do I know about fundie logic?

Lol! I love her little grin!!! :pb_lol:

It’s possible they’re picking out her clothes together. Allie is old enough to have an opinion, so Alyssa may give her a few options to pick from. That way Allie gets a say and Alyssa still gets a cute kid in a cute outfit. Win win.

ETA: Lexi Mae turns one today. So happy first birthday to her.

If Alyssa wasn't a fundie she'd be entering her girls in Toddlers and Tiaras-style  beauty pageants. : )

Like @VelociRapture said, it's Lexi's first birthday.

Good luck child, your days as the youngest are limited. Hopefully she will be able to live her life to the fullest and not have too many sister-mom duties.

Fundie beauty pageant. Interesting concept.

Humblest Honeys, Meekest Mini-Mes.

Prizes for Most Pleasing Countenance? Rapid scripture quoting for talent portion?

Wow, Lexi looks so much like Alyssa to me, whereas Alli looks more like John.

It also seems like they didn't make nearly as big a deal of Lexi's first birthday party as they did with Alli's.  I'm sure that's because now there are two small kids and another on the way.  I don't expect her to stop anytime soon, though -- I was fooled when she said they were at 'two for now' and thought they would  try to prevent, silly me.

Allie’s “big” first birthday party was held five days before her actual birthday and was filmed for the show. It looks like just the three of them celebrated on her actual birthday. It’s possible that the “big” party for Lexi will be/was filmed another day and this was just a celebration at home for the four of them. Kelly did just have eye surgery and may not have been able to travel.

It’s also possible that you’re right and they were too busy to make a big fuss. That can happen in a lot of families with more than one kid and John and Alyssa both do seem to work pretty hard.

Am I hallucinating or is there a hot pink and black soccer ball  (football, for our friends in the rest of the world) on her highchair? Fundy maidens don't play soccer.

They showed all the girls playing a weird version of kick-ball at their grandparents home in one episode of like Season 2 or 3.

Alyssa probably approved this soccer stuff due to the pinkalicious color of the ball.

They are just now having the baby dedication service?!?! At my church (granted the congregation size is 70-90 people any given Sunday), the baby dedication service occurs at least within the first six months of the baby's life. If you're a grandchild of the pastor, it's sooner.

A little reminder that just because Alyssa wears pants doesn't mean she's any less fundie than her parents.. This is just a few snippets of the beliefs West Orlando Baptist Church has (the church she attends with her family):

Human Sexuality:
We believe that God has commanded that no sexual activity be engaged outside of marriage between a man and a woman. We believe that any form of homosexuality, lesbianism, bi-sexuality, bestiality, incest, pedophilia, fornication, adultery and pornography are sinful perversions of God’s gift of sex. (Genesis 2:24; 19:5, 13; 26:8-9; Leviticus 18:1-30; Romans 1:26-29;
I Corinthians 5:1; 6:9; I Thessalonians 4:1-8; Hebrews 3:4)
p) Abortion:
We believe that human life begins at conception and that the unborn child is a living human being. Abortion constitutes the unjustified, unexcused taking of unborn human life. Abortion is murder. We reject any teaching that abortion of pregnancy due to rape, incest, birth defects, gender selection, birth or population control, or the well being of the mother are acceptable. (Job 3:16;
Psalm 139:14-16; Isaiah 44:24; 49:1, 5; Jeremiah 1:5; 20:15-18; Luke 1:41-44)

Section 1. Teaching
All curriculum themes will have the evangelistic thrust of reaching lost souls for Christ in every
part of the world.

We believe that God preserved His Word in the English language in the King James Version. Only the King James Version shall be used for teaching and preaching from the pulpit, in all Sunday school classes, Bible studies, and all ministries coming under the authority of West Orlando Baptist Church.

Thank you for sharing that. Things like this is why I am never happy when the Bates get involved in politics, their local government or law enforcement. They may put on mainstream clothing, but they still have the same awful beliefs.

I checked out the church website.   One of their photo galleries shows a church event with a lot of pants wearing women and girls.  So yes, pants doesn't mean not fundie.

While personally I think Alyssa didn't waste time exerting some freedom after she got married (and I don't blame her either) this idea that she would immediately do a complete 180 in terms of her beliefs is not realistic in any case, fundie or not.  If there's any chance that she will change, or rather, evolve, in her beliefs, I think we need to check in 10, 15, or 20 years from now.

And furthermore, what she's doing is what she's always known.  She may not even give too much thought to what she is espousing.   The Bateseseseses kids were especially programmed to believe what their parents wanted them to believe and they were to be in lockstep with them.   Shaking that off and deciding what you believe (versus what your parents want you to believe) will take time, coupled with experience and just life in general happening.  It may never happen at all though I think with 19 kids, the odds of there being varying outcomes in this regard is likely.

Are we considering all conservative southern baptist churches fundamentalists? Evangelical, sure. But this church isnt exactly out of the ordinary. It holds the beliefs of millions of people. I grew up in this culture ((evangelical)), but it wouldn't have been considered fundie.

I was just about to say the same. My Theology lecturer at uni was an Evangelical Baptist and attends a church who believe these things.

I’d consider him conservative yes. But my no means fundamentalist.

I wouldn't say that all evangelicals are fundie, but I would agree with @formergothardite that anyone who thinks that providing abortion care in cases of "rape, incest, birth defects, gender selection, birth or population control, or the well being of the mother" is unacceptable has no place governing the country, so the Websters still stink whether we categorize them as fundie or not.

Are they trying to force the rest of us to follow their beliefs by doing things like stripping women of their rights over their bodies and trying to prevent gay marriage? Would they force an 11 year old to have a baby instead of allowing an abortion? Would they use their religion to deny an entire group of people equality? Are they saying gay people aren't that much different than pedophiles? Alyssa's church would answer yes to all those questions and I would say that is pretty damn fundie. Alyssa's church is also KJV only.

I would agree that these things are common among evangelical churches, but just because lots of people support the idea doesn't make it less fundie. We need to stop accepting that idea that being anti-gay and anti-woman isn't fundie.

Eh, but there are plenty of non-religious people who hold those views also.  I think we call them bigots.
