If this birth goes well for Jess, my money is on here for the most kids, and to give her mom a run for her money numbers wise.  As much as I love Joy's spunkyness I have a feeling she will be more like Jessa, hard nosed and a stickler for rules.  I will wait on guessing her having a doezen kids until we hear more for m Austin and see how quickly she gets preggers and how easy her births are.

I think a lot depends on whether they get their own J-slave to help out, maybe someone from their buddy group. That in turn depends on how much free labour they need at TTH, ie how quickly the howlers get married off to their very own walking uterus, and, for Jill and Joy, which of them gets a live-in Jennifer.

On their own, I just don't see any of them facing the sheer amount of work it takes to cook, clean and pretend to educate a dozen kids. They lack the work ethic and life experience to make it work - for the older Duggars, the TV money kicked in when they would otherwise have been at breaking point. Because let's face it, they won't get that much help from the grandparents - the Duggars can't split themselves into 19 to serve as live-in laundromats like Grandma Duggar, and the other side of the family, not having raised a football team themselves, might not get why their broodmare of a daughter-in-law is struggling to cope with the eleventy blessings she claimed she wanted.

I actually feel sorry for the J-slaves as they're in a catch-22 situation - limit their family size and risk losing the TV income, or keep breeding for money and face a very harsh situation the moment the TV ratings go down and they get cancelled.

All I could think was this almost looks as though Thomas Kincaid was going through a dystopian period. I am sure there are more inviting pictures to choose from. Then again the decision was probably more tied into having an old timey feel accentuated with a touch of patriotism.

There will be a few kids that will want small families. People die and most " kids" eventually mature to form their own opinions and make their own plans. There is no way 19 offspring will all be shooting for double digits. Jana and JD are already limiting their own potential numbers every year they remain single.

JD could get himself a teenager and make billions of kids.  His age doesn't matter much as his wife's would.

I really hope they keep the pornographic hand holding to a minimum. 

Im surprised JB doesn't force the girls to wear little white gloves once they are engaged. So the hand holding is more chaste.

I'm not 100% sure about that. My daughter was/is a lot like this, she  LOVES to get her brother in trouble and other kids,  & to be the "good girl", but she also loves stretching the rules as far as she can by saying "but I'm such a good kid" I kind of get that vibe with Joy.  Granted hubby and I aren't boob & DQ and we don't beat our kids into submission hell we never even made them color inside the lines growing up, so I could be way off base here.

It makes complete sense, though. Remember, Joy is Jill's buddy. It wouldn't surprise me at all if her beliefs were Jill's on steroids, so to speak. Jill was always the tattle tale, and the most obnoxious about her beliefs. I wouldn't be surprised if she raised her buddies to be even more obnoxious and black and white in their beliefs. Yes, I had hoped she would be different, since she was the tomboy surround by boys, but this isn't the case, based on her behavior.

I agree with those who have said they think this whole relationship is already bought and paid for.

As for the relative sadness of the whole thing... I'm not sure. Hear me out. Yes, Joy's lot is one of sadness. She gets married young, is trapped in the often brutal world of SAHDing for more years, or she has to break with everyone and everything she loves. No real happy answers. So, out of the two non-family and faith abandoning options, she has start her own family (roll the dice - might be better, might be worse, depends on her headship) or stay in her current condition. Some of the things I have read have led me to believe that the life of a SAHD can be very bleak. Yes, I would love to see more girls break free. However, is marriage really worse than raising her siblings and sister's kids while never getting to be an adult? I'm just not sure.

The pre-marital sex rumor is probably made up, just like it was when Jinger and Jill got engaged, but whenever I see articles like that, I always hold out a small hope that one of the kids finally figured out how lucrative it would be for them to defy their parents. It would be so lucrative, Jim Boob would be forced to hit up the "heathens" in the family for grocery money once the gravy train finally derails all the way.

Seriously, all they would have to do is make out once before marriage (never mind sex), and make sure someone saw them. People would be all over them for an exclusive interview! The headline would say: "We Abandoned Our Parents Courtship Rules! See People's exclusive Interview with Joy-Anna Duggar and Austin (Whatshisfuckingname...can't spell and don't feel like looking it up)!"

Interesting how this rumour came about just in time for the new season. If I didn't know better I'd say the Duggar PR team "leaked" this for ratings.  

But if they did I can't believe the family knew or would ever go along with it. Money hungry JB aside, his daughters' virginal reputation is still probably worth more to him than extra ratings.

I get a very concentration camp-y vibe from it. The fence around the perimeter... Really they just should have taken the picture during the day with a ton of happy people around, it being abandoned doesn't give a good vibe at all.

Assuming average fertility for both the girl and boy, I honestly think the biggest determining factor for how many kids each Duggar will have is what the man's sex drive is like. A busy life with young children, a stressful job and a lot of responsibilities can really kill a sex drive for some (US! lol). Others can hardly wait the 6 weeks until the doc says sex is ok (my friend, who did not wait the 6 weeks! I could not even imagine. lol)

Oh my goodness I just now realized how much I want a Duggar to escape and get a tv show on a competing network that airs at the same time as whatever the Duggar's show is callled now. "A Duggar Escapes!" lol But seriously, you are so right, between ex-fundie groups that would love a high profile defector, book deals for all the dirt if they were willing to go there, and interviews just about leaving and what their life is on the outside they'd really have a good nest egg to start a non-fundie life.

Doubt it will ever happen. Or at least not while the Duggars are still minimally relevant.
